I have had one of the WORST experiences I have ever had with a business, let alone a building materials supplier. I will stick to the facts for this review and preserve the issues as best I can? I will redact names so this does not look like a personal attack; I assure you it is not! I was working with Builder?s Cabinet Supply (BCS) to add a small extension on to our kitchen. We needed a piece of granite to install on the extension and our salesperson recommended we go through Allied to find the granite. We were working with ?JF?, who came out to check out our current granite countertop in order to match the existing granite, finish and edges. ?JF? inspected the granite for 10 seconds and took some basic measurements and left. He said he would provide a quote the next day. We did not hear back from them for a few weeks until I followed up. I received the quote and after much negotiation, I was told I was going to be charged for the whole slab as they could not find a remnant. I was able to negotiate Allied into finishing the whole slab for me as we would use the remnant pieces elsewhere throughout the house. I thought everything was all set. We agreed on a price, installation date and coordinated with our general contractor in order to make sure our cabinets could be installed at the same time as the granite. My contractor came to install the base cabinets, and on the day the granite was to be set, Allied did not show up. I was told there was a miscommunication between Allied and BCS and they had not even started fabricating my order. We agreed on a new date to install. That day came and went without a complete install. I called and was told that there was a delay and it would be a few hours. We waited and waited and still nothing. We finally agreed on a new date. At this point, I had missed two days for work and could not take off any more waiting around for Allied. Unfortunately, I could not be home to inspect the product when they installed it. My contractor completed the cabinets and I saw the granite when I came home later in the day. The granite was unevenly polished and had spots where the gloss had not been applied consistently. Worse yet, the edge was totally incorrect! We ordered a beveled edge and Allied delivered a rounded edge. I told ?JF? what had happened and he told me he wanted to fix it which would involve uninstalling the cabinets, removing the granite, re-finishing the granite, reinstalling the granite, reinstalling the cabinets. Obviously, this would be costly as it would be akin to redoing the job. Considering the quality of the craftsmanship, I did not want Allied performing this work. So, I got a quote for the work and told Allied that if they are willing to pick up the cost of construction, I would be amenable to having them correct their mistake. Given the cost, they turned down my offer. I suggested we agree on a discount for their shoddy work, they let me pay on my credit card (as agreed) and we can part ways. After many rounds of negotiation, we agreed on a number but I was told they no longer accept credit cards and I had to pay cash. I was referred to the owner, ?AC?, who confirmed he was unable to process credit cards any longer. He demanded payment and said that he would report me to collections and apply liens if I did not pay. Wanting to avoid the shake down, I paid the entire amount without the discount, and indicated that I would make my experience known so to caution others from doing business with this company. In the end, here are the facts: 1. The delivery and installation date of the granite was screwed up twice, causing my wife and I to miss work. 2. The edge of the granite that was delivered was incorrect (Allied delivered rounded vs. we ordered beveled) 3. It was promised that Allied accepted credit cards, which they changed at the end of our transaction 4. The quality of the delivered product was sub-par ? the polish was inconsistent 5. ?JF? and ?AC? were completely unprofessional and unsympathetic to our needs - we did not receive a call back or apology for our inconvenience. 6. To correct their mistakes, it would have cost me more money and they were unwilling to pay to correct their mistakes. 7. When we agreed on a discount, they demanded cash and threatened collections if I did not pay. All I wanted was a nice piece of granite and what I got was shaken down for granite with an unmatching edge without a nice finish that cost me to miss work and a lot of headache. Anyone looking for a granite or stone company, watch out for Allied.
Description of Work: Allied was contracted to fabricate a granite counter top and small back-splash for a small kitchen extension. We were forced to buy the whole slab so we also had them fabricate an additional countertop for a buffet piece. We agreed that the granite, edge and finish would match our existing granite.
