This was our second remodel project in our new home and I wish we would have used Peter for our first project. This was a great experience. Peter was polite, prompt and fair in price. They arrived on time to start the job and immediately put up protective coverings on our floors and installed a temporary plastic wall in our master bedroom to help contain the dust. They arrived on time every day and stayed until 6:00 in the evening. Our project was done on time (2 weeks) as projected. They passed all inspections the first time and in general were just very neat, polite and hard workers. I will definitely call Peter again when we decide to remodel something else. Give them a call - you won't be disappointed!
Description of Work: Total gut and remodel of master bathroom. Removed old tub, tile, shower, vanity, toilet, etc. Installed new custom tiled shower, marble floor tile, stand alone tub, vanity, toilet, etc..

These guys were excellent! Our hot water heater was a problem that required some complex thought to come up with a solution. We got multiple estimates and talked to a variety of carpenters and plumbers who seemed overly perplexed by how to help us. Peter from Design Invention was extremely professional and provided us with an estimate within two days of an in home visit for a solution that was simple and attractive, even providing us with additional storage in the form of a shelving nook. They were ready to start work about a week later. Despite encountering a major bump in the road - a main water line inside the wall, the project was completed within the 3 day time frame initially promised without a single moment of fret from these guys. Quick modifications were done to the plan and everything stayed on track and in budget. Design Invention made sure we never felt overly impacted by this project. They even cleaned up and hauled away all debris. Most importantly, the final result looks like is was always meant to be.
Description of Work: Our twelve year old hot water heater was drywalled into a utility closet with no direct access door to replace it. We had an access door built to our hot water heater, multiple pipes moved, the hot water heater replaced, and drywall with a built in shelving nook.

Petyr and team are very responsive and do excellent work. I was originally going put in a backsplash and paint the kitchen. The project turned into a total gut of kitchen, painting and redoing hardwood floors. I could not be happier! They were at my house every morning at 8:00 or earlier to work and worked til 6 most nights. The cleanup every evening was good as well. Petyr and team installed all new cabinets, new appliances, added a beautiful backsplash (stone), new plumbing under sink, added lights underneath the cabinets, painted, installed new lighting and resanded/buffed the hardwood floors. I have a new kitchen that looks beautiful. One thing that is also great is that when something didn't' seem right I called Petyr and he was usually out the next day (or maybe that day). I am picky but he fixed everything or touched up if needed. I had my master bathroom done by Petyr and team last year and they did an excellent job. I told them if they did a good job I would have them do my kitchen. They have professionalism and did what I asked. I will be getting my basement done later this year as well and can't wait! When the basement is done they will have remodeled most of my house!

The project went very well and the crew was considerate enough to ask how long they could work in the evening, and if they could work on saturdays, which we were ok with.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom remodel. We had a condo with a master bath with for some reason only had a jacuzzi tub in it. The bathroom was not a very large bathroom. We were able to work with Peter to put in a soaking tub and very large shower with glass in a confined space. They did all the plumbing, drywall, and tile. They were very careful protecting our floors, and even brought in a cleaning crew to clean the entire condo when they were done. When we noticed one spot we wanted touched up at the end of the project, they came back for that one spot, no problem.

For the most part, the service was fine. Being a first time re-modeler, I didn't know that I was supposed to be getting permits and things like that. There was a little bit of a lack of communication at the beginning just because I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing and what, as the contractor, he was supposed to be doing. I didn't know that we were supposed to get permits for the village and then, all of a sudden, we can't start working until we get the permits. Otherwise, we are very happy with the bathroom. The price stayed within the Big Deal budget and it seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: I had a Big Deal from Design Invention for a complete bathroom remodel last summer. It was completely gutted and re-done.

We were contacted quickly after asking for an estimate. Once I chose the tile, the job was scheduled within a few days. I was especially impressed by the fact that though the company didn't know when I was ordering the tile, they were quite willing to pick it up within the few days Menard's said it would hold it at their loading dock. The workers cleaned up after themselves, tried to make friends with my dog, did an excellent job of matching the grout to the color of the tile and were generally very pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: We had an old vinyl tile floor in the basement that had been damaged by flooding and our dogs and cats. We received two quotes to replace the flooring: one for vinyl tile to be laid on top of the existing tile and one for ceramic tile. Both seemed like good companies but my sister decided she wanted the ceramic tile. The cost is only for the installation but was very similar to the other company's quote for vinyl tile. The tile was bought at Menard's and the people from Design & Invention picked it up and brought it to our house. The workers stripped off the old tile including some ceramic tile by the fireplace, treated the cement floor and put down thenew tile. They also reinstalled wood molding along the floor. The job took about a day and a half. We are very pleased with the end result.

I have worked with MANY contractors for all kinds of jobs. From renovation to brand new construction. I seriously had unparalleled service from Peter and his company. At all times I was updated with the progress of the work being performed. If there were any complications I was informed about changes that might occur. Workers were prompt, polite and neat. They understand Customer Service and provide proper care to all aspects of the work being done. Now a days, that is a hard thing to find. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company.

Peter was so great to work with. He responded quickly to my request for an estimate. He explained everything very thoroughly, answered all questions I had, and always asked if I had questions for anything. Before work began, he gave some company names he works with if we needed help picking products for any of the bathrooms. The workers who worked on the bathrooms couldn't have been better. They always showed up on time and stayed everyday until 5:00. They worked so hard and did such a great job. They kept everything as neat as possible with a demolition. No complaints at all. All the bathrooms turned out so beautiful and we have gotten so many compliments! The only reason I gave them a "b" for price is that I had a lower estimate from another company. Peter's estimate was in the middle of the bunch. But, I still thought the price was fair. I would highly recommend Design Inventions!
Description of Work: We had our master bath totally redone. They did the demo work for us. New shower, floors, tub, vanity, fixures, painting, fixtures and lighting. We also had our vanities replaced in the second upsatirs bath and the powder room.

I am very pleased with the professionalism, the costs, and the result of my master bathroom remodel. Prior to the work starting Peter was very quick to come and give me an estimate and accurate with the time that the work would start. He was the one who imagined the bathroom design for my described desires. He was also very responsive to my emails with questions and some design changes/additions. Peter's crew consisted of his brother-in-laws, Jesse and Casey, who were very polite, punctual, trustworthy, detail-oriented and professional. I was completely comfortable leaving them unsupervised. Everyday they laid out floor covering from the garage to the master bedroom and pick it up at the end of the day. The house stayed very clean that way. They were kind and patient with my children who had a tendency to interrupt them at least once each day. The demolition was so quiet, I was surprised when I inspected and found everything had been removed. There were of course some surprises when the floor was opened up. In particular, whoever did the plumbing and electrical prior to our ownership had had larger waste lines running into smaller ones and no air intake line off the toilet (or whatever that was that's supposed to run off the toilet lines, sorry I'm not so precise here). The electrical devices on the jacuzzi and the lights were also not surge protected. The crew took care of that and Peter was more than fair in the added charge for the extra plumbing work. Peter was very flexible with a few changes I made to the original plan and up front about the potential extra costs which in the end were really only extra cost for materials and not so much the labor. When it was time for the grout, Peter gave me a pamphlet with all the colors and asked me to choose. Same with the color of the bathroom. The guys worked 9 straight days until the bathroom was finished except for the glass for the shower which was being installed by GP company (Greg Putek). They cleaned everything up very well and even restored all the finish on the old woodwork on the door and the window frame that I didn't have replaced. The refinished would looked so great that I asked Peter to send me a picture of the stuff they used to restore it with so I can do the rest of the house. The guys had to come back twice, once because the shower would not turn off which turned out to be caused by an errant piece of solder and a second time to cut back the granite backsplash to my liking. They also fixed the towel ring that I had caused to loosen from the wall by hanging too much on it. They found a stud and anchored it to that so and then fixed and repained the wall where the ring had originally been installed. The tendency for the ring to come loose was really a manufacturer's fault because they don't provide sufficient anchors for drywall. They were very quick to return to fix those things so I could fully enjoy my new bathroom. Peter gives a year warranty on the his work and has been so good about seeing to these things so quickly that I feel very comfortable going forward.
Description of Work: Gutted 7' x 9' master bathroom. Removed all plumbing fixtures, removed vanity cabinet, removed medicine chest. Removed shower door enclosure. Removed shower enclosure. Removed steps to walk in tub. Removed tiles from floor. Removed remaining tile setting from floor. Removed light fixture. Removed and replaced a good portion of the drywall and Disposed of all trash. Framed new custom shower base. Framed new closet. Relocated drain in shower floor. Installed new shower faucet system. Installed rubber liner on shower floor and 16’’ height on walls. Poured concrete over shower floor. Installed ½’’ cement board on shower walls. Installed cement board on main bathroom floor. Installed tiles on shower walls. Installed tiles on shower floor. Install tilesed on main bathroom floor. Applied grout. Relocated 6’’ recessed light for new location. Installed new vanity cabinet, vanity top and sink, connected sink faucet. Installed new toilet. Painted entire bathroom walls and ceiling. Installed and stained folding closet door. Additional work requested or found to be needed during renovation: moved and fixed plumbing mistakes of previous contractors. Installed ceiling fan. Added seat in shower. Created and tiled recessed area in shower for toiletries. Installed recessed medicine cabinet. Installed light fixture above medicine cabinet. Installed surge protected outlets and switches. Modified vanity to fit waste plumbing and rectangular drop sink. Installed towel bar, towel ring, toilet paper holder. Restored remaining woodwork. I selected and paid for the tiles and shower seat and thresholds ( at the Tile Shop), toilet and ceiling fan (home depot), vanity (ordered from manufacturer distributor), medicine cabinet, towel bar, towel ring, toilet paper holder, sink faucet, shower faucet and head (all from Ferguson's) and the shower glass and framing in installation (subcontracted out to Greg Putek of GP Company and marble countertop and sink from Ultimate Stone in Elk Grove Village ( both of whom I will review and give an As as well when I have a chance). Peter included all the other materials in his charge which included a lot of stuff for example, concrete, drywall, plywood flooring, electrical outlets/switches, paint, grout, wood finisher, caulk etc, plumbing materials, water lines, shower drain and cover etc etc. I did not go with the cheapest materials as you will see in the pictures (I spent well over $5000) so you can imagine that Peter and his crew worked very reasonably ($7,500 including the extra plumbing work and the last minute decision to add ceiling fan).

Peter, of Design Invention, is very hard working. He came out and evaluated our old bathroom and gave us an estimate for a complete bathroom remodel. He was responsive and available for questions along the way. He put us in touch with stores to help make our selection of floor & shower tiles & plumbing supplies. Our project began on January 2nd and was finished by January 14th. It was a quick, efficient and a painless remodel. Peter began by getting all permits and workers lined up. Once they started the job, Design Invention worked nonstop 6 days a week until the job was complete. The workers were neat and efficient. They were very considerate of the household too. Best of all the quality of their work was excellent. There was never a moment of down time. Design Invention worked like a well oiled machine. We were delighted with the outcome of this remodel. It is now a fabulous updated bathroom with walk in shower. Our project ended up $3000 over budget. That was a disappointment I had not expected. Our initial deal was for $4,999 for a complete remodel of a 5x 8 bathroom. Since we were expanding our shower, we had Peter calculate the added cost. Our bid of $7,000 seemed acceptable. In the end, our project cost $10,000. Our mistake, the budget allotted by Design Invention for replacement materials was small. It allowed for only low end choices. For example our budget was $200 for floor and shower tiles. Our tile selection ran $1700. Our shower is beautiful and we love the finished project made possible by Design Invention. I would state our remodel was not a bargain but worth the price. I would use Design Invention again and recommend them.
Description of Work: Peter of Design Invention did a remodel of my 5x8 bathroom with a shower. He completely redid the bathroom, replacing toilet, sink, vanity, electrical gci outlet, faucet, & shower head. He redid tile on floor and shower. In addition, he expanded our shower and glass enclosure. Our 60 year old bath & shower have been transformed. It looks fabulous!

Process went smoothly from the first vist by Peter Rymaszewski- who is the owner of the company. We got the quote in June, did some comparison shopping, selected DEsign Invention, and got the work scheduled to begin in early October. Peter was busy, but we decided to wait and the time was appreciated because there were lots of decisions to be made on our part and shopping to do. One of the main reasons we chose this company was Peter. He is professional, knowledgeable, and has such an engaging manner. And while we knew he would not be actively doing the project work, he lived nearby and was very responsive, and accessible. Peter R. was at our home on day one of the project with his team of Jesse and Peter, (second Peter as we called him) to provide direction and instruction and he visited the project regularly. Because we do not speak Polish, there was a bit of a language barrier- but it was never was an issue. The entire team worked quickly, carefully, and were respectful of our home. Ultimately, all the work they performed was beautifully executed. They are fine craftsman. One of the biggest bonuses of working with Peter was the referrals he provided to companies and people to help with selecting cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, granite, and tile. For a homeowner, choosing the materials and envisioning how they will look all together is the most challenging part of a remodel. The assistance from these folks was invaluable, and the contractor discounts helped the bottom line. Our new bathroom was finished in just over two weeks and it is gorgeous.
Description of Work: Bathroom Remodel Four piece jack and jill style bath which is the main full bath in the house. Services were for design review, measurements and referrals to suppliers, quantities, complete demolition and installation. During the two week construction we used a basement bathroom to shower, and also have a powder room on the first floor. Complete demolition, everything removed down to the studs; including flooring, tilework, sinks, tub, lighting, and separate shower. Plumbing- install faucets in the tub, shower stall, sinks, new bathtub and toilet. Electrical - Install new recessed lighting in shower, switches, electical boxes, vanity lighting, and exhaust fan/light combo. Framed new shower, install new base and pour concrete. Install cement board, install all tilework and grout. Repaired all walls, ceiling, sand, smooth, prime and paint. Install vanity, connect sinks and faucets. Install two new doors in the bathroom and replaced three additional doors on the second level and replaced all hardware. Arranged for the measurement and installation of glass shower enclosure. Glass cost was separate from quote. We supplied tile, all plumbing fixtures, vanity, counter top and lighting. Contractor supplied tile setting, grout, doors, paint and other materials necessary to complete installation.

As usual with a big deal, what is offered is not what it really cost, and luckily i had them come and look at my bath (small, not large for a 1955 house) and how much it would take and their price was close to the big deal offer but it did not include any of the permits. since i work full time, taking time off to obtain permits and manage that whole process is not what i wanted. This is the only bath, so having it out of commission for a lengthy period of time is a definite issue and the contractor could not give me solid dates either. I'm sure his work would be fine, i just need someone who does the job A to Z and commits to timelines.

The job went smoothly from start to finish.
Description of Work: Design Invention has done a lot of work on my house in recent years. This time I hired them to replace a door and three windows in my detached garage, rebuild a small fence, install can lights in two rooms, and perform some minor modifications in a bathroom. As always, the work was high quality and the prices were fair and reasonable, Piotr and his crew are reliable and dependable and he went out of his way to make sure I was completely satisfied.

I was thrilled with the job Design Invention did. They did what they said the would when they said they would, and the price was reasonable. These are professionals who know what they are doing and understand the need to communicate with the customer and clean up after themselves very well. At the first consultation, Peter, the owner, came and took measurements, and we discussed in detail what they would do. He was very clear that there would be some costs for running new wiring, demolishing extra layers of tile and cementboard on the floor and installing the exhaust fan/light and related ductwork and installing the glass-block window. The estimate came back at about $6,279, before a $1,000 credit for supplying our own tub, tile, toilet, vanity, sink, faucet, cabinet and lights. You might possibly get all that stuff for $1,000 if you go extremely low-end on everything. I elected to spend about $2,100 on mostly mid-grade items, including IKEA vanity cabinet, sink, faucet, mirror cabinet and storage cabinet, 1-inch glass mosaic tile for the shower surround, relatively inexpensive floor tile, mid-grade Kohler shower head and faucet and towel bars, and the exhaust fan. The cost of the glass block, drywall, grout, paint and other materials was included in the price. So the total cost of the job came out to about $7,400. (I assembled the IKEA cabinets). Design Invention has a systemic approach to bath remodeling planned out by day. Day 1 is demo, Day 2 is plumbing/electric, Day 3 is drywall, etc. For this reason, they spend an hour of so BEFORE they begin to make sure that all of the materials the customer has supplied are the right kind, will fit the allotted space, are the correct color, etc. Then once they start, two workmen (sometimes three) are in your house 9 hours a day until the job is completed. Our bathroom took 8 working days. They put up plastic dust barriers each morning and removed them at night so we could have normal use of our home when they were not working. They were pleasant and polite. Since I work away from home during the day, Peter and I talked by phone and email several times to go over the little things that came up: The old cast-iron tub was a few inches longer than the standard 5-footer I had purchased, so they needed to build a little tile shelf for placing shampoo on; I had opinions about how high the baseboard/bullnose tile should go above the floor, how high the towel bars were. The grout color we originally picked was out of stock, but it was way more pink than it had looked on paper, so we trusted Peter's judgment on an alternate that looked great. They followed my instructions for where to install medicine cabinet, but my wife and I found it was too high, so they lowered it--that kind of thing. If I had any concern at all, it would be that I got the feeling that unless you give them explicit instructions on certain decisions, like how high the shower head should be or where to put a towel bar or something, they might decide for you without asking. For example, they picked out a new heat register and entry threshhold without consulting me. I liked both -- so it was fine, but someone else might want to be consulted. The results are beautiful. I would use these guys again in a heartbeat. One strong plus for this outfit is that they are very responsive. I always was able to get Peter by phone in an instant, and if there was an issue or question he knew exactly what I was talking about. It is important to note the carpenters do not speak English, so you can't poke your head in the room and tell them to do something different, or ask questions, etc. You have to do that through Peter. A week or so after the job was done, Peter called to make sure everything was OK, and if we wanted anything tweaked or fixed, they would come back and do that for up to one year. Great company.
Description of Work: This was a 5-foot by 8-foot total bathroom remodel. Total demolition and haul-away of existing bathroom and installation of new subfloor, floor and bath surround tile, tub, vanity, tile backsplash, toilet, storage cabinet, as well as additional services for installing electrical for for a vanity light, overhead exhaust fan/light and related ductwork and external damper, and removing a conventional window and installing a glass-block window.

THIS IS NOT A $4999..00 PROJECT. THIS IS STRICTLY AN ALL CARTE PROJECT. I WOULD EXPECT THAT OLD WALL PAPER AND TILE TO BE REMOVED WOULD NOT BE AN ADD ON BUT IT WAS . ANY NEW WOOD TRIM IS AN ADD ON. WAS CHARGED FOR PERMIT. THE $1000.00 ALLOWED FOR FIXTURES AND VANITY IS WAY TO LOW AS I DECIDED TO PURCHASE MY OWN. I SPENT $2800.00 AND WAS NOT TOP OF THE LINE. CHARGED OVER $900.00 TO BRING IN A NEW ELECTRIC LINE TO THE BATHROOM. I TALKED TO AN ELECTRICIAN A WEEK AGO AND HE SAID IT SHOULD NOT COST MORE THAN $350. TO 500. I HAD ASKED PETER TO LOOK AT ALL THE MATERIALS THAT I HAD BOUGHT TO SEE IS EVERYTHING WAS O.K. HE CHOSE NOT TO AND WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE LIGHT FIXTURE AND TOILET AND TUB. HAD TO CUT A HOLE IN THE WALL FOR THE WATER INLET. THE LIGHT HAD TO BE RETURNED BECAUSE THERE WAS ONLY ONE OUTLET BOX AND I HAD BOUGHT TWO FIXTURES. THE TUB WAS BOUGHT AS A RIGHT HAND DRAIN BUT HAD A LEFT HAND DRAIN IN THE BOX AND HAD TO BE EXCHANGED.
Description of Work: THIS PROJECT WAS A TOTAL DEMOLITION AND REPLACE ALL. NEW TILE AROUND NEW TUB. NEW TILE ON FLOOR. NEW SINK AND TOILET. NEW CABINET OVER TOILET . NEW MIRROR OVER SINK. NEW LIGHT FIXTURE. NEW PAINT. MOVED AN OUTLET AND INSTALLED GFI SWITCH. ALL NEW FAUCETS FOR TUB AND SINK.

The job went flawlessly. Peter checked with me a few days after I had time to actually use the bathroom to make sure everything was good. I really appreciated that.
Description of Work: The Design Invention team had previously remodeled my master bathroom last spring. They did such a great job that I asked them to remodel my hallway bathroom this fall. Peter helped me with a design, which was my biggest problem. Once we had that, he scheduled me a time slot for the job. I purchased some of the materials like tiles, medicine cabinet and granite countertop at places that Peter had recommended, which were great. He purchased everything else, and everything was ready to be installed when he called to confirm when the job would begin. His team always arrives promptly, and everyone is courteous. The team gutted the room, installed everything and did all that was asked. The job included demolition, framing, drywall, plumbing, tiling, venting, cabinet install, countertop install, electrical, flooring and painting. Everything was done perfectly. All their work was neat; they cleaned up at the end of each day. I never had to clean up after them. My bathroom looks like a showroom model.

I had the work preformed 6 months ago by Peter and his crew and very happy my wife and I couldn't be more thrilled. I waited 6 months so I could report back on how responsive he was to fixing problem that usually pop-up, but there weren't any! After initially considering doing the work myself, we started off a very large project with another angies list contractor and fired him after the first week. I should have never hired such a laid back solo guy for such a large project to begin with. I found Design Interventions through the Angies Big Deal they have for the bathroom remodel. I never expected to get all the work I was doing through that type of a deal, but it was a good indication they do a lot of projects throughout Chicago and get many great reviews from people that have the right expectations around projects and cost. When Peter came out to do the estimate he was on time, very professional and you could tell he knew what he was talking. Since building out a new bathroom where none previously existed meant moving walls, he even crawled up into my attic to take a look at the joists. Keep in mind he could have just popped in and out to do a quick estimate and just add additional charges later on for what was "discovered," but I was impressed he went the extra mile and did the due diligence upfront to give a very accurate estimate of the work the best he could without tearing open walls. After Peter left, my wife who didn't want me to fire the first contractor because she felt bad, said "I am sure glad you fired the other guy, that would have been a nightmare". This was based on just overhearing my conversations with Peter. She was really impressed with his knowledge. Over the next few weeks Peter and I exchanged a few emails working out some of the details of what needed to get done and fine tuning the plan. He said it was 5 weeks worth of work for his team and we picked a time frame were I would be in town during that window. He gave me a call a few week before the start date and started the date he promised which was very important for me as I hate being out of town while work is getting done. First day Peter's guys came in, laid down drop cloths and hung up plastic sheeting all over to control the dust. We knew tearing up the house would be messy, and they tried their best to control the dust. In the end, you are going to have dust throughout your house as that's just the way air travels, but Peter's team even cleaned up at the end washing down the floors, cleaning up the garage, etc. which was unexpected and appreciated. The first few days were gutting the plaster walls/ceilings, pulled up the flooring (oak and tile), etc.. That was a lot of work and I was very glad at that point I hired someone to do the work. They hauled everything away and there was a lot, without a need for a large dumpster in front of my house which was great. Later that week, they had much of the framing in place. It was at that point, what looked good on my little drawing I did on the computer, felt different when you could actually see it and walk through it. Peter's team did the framing exactly as I laid it out, but I realized the master shower needed to be a little narrower. Had I hired an architect or Peter to draw up the plan, it would have been different I'm sure. We asked him if he could reframe the shower a bit and also change the framing to install a pocket door instead. He said, "Sure, no problem". If it was me, I would have either said no or been really upset. There were a few more times through the project where I did something similar (e.g. switch toilets after they were installed) with the same response. He had the "customer is always right" approach, even when I made some mistakes. I will say that I wasn't the only one that made a few mistakes. With a project this size, you do expect a few things along the way to go wrong, but when I pointed anything out, Peter was quick to respond with the end goal of making the customer happy. Over the next couple of weeks the plumber and electrician did their work. Peter uses real tradesmen and does work to code. You don't want to hire a guy that's going to bx cable your whole house that you'll need to rip out later when you sell. Adding a bathroom where one didn't exist calls for creative routing of plumbing without tearing up the rest of your house and they did a great job including tying everything together with the proper venting in the attic and back out the roof. Very important to hire someone that knows the code, proper venting, etc. The last few weeks were tiling, installing fixtures, lighting, etc. Peter recommended ahead of time I may want to go with porcelain instead of stone and I was glad I did. Found tile for both bathrooms that looks exactly like stone, but without the maintenance. Just make sure you get tile that has a hardness rating of at least 4 if not 5. The first tile I picked up only had 3 and Peter suggested I'd take it back. He also suggested I go with epoxy grout. Once my wife heard the advantage, she was all over that the decision to go with it. A couple of things I am glad I did was go with the glass doors he recommended. It was one less thing I had to run around and figure out and they were really nice and perfectly installed. I also asked Peter to put an electrically outlet next to the toilet for a washlet. Didn't know they even existed until a year ago and couldn't figure out why they get such rave reviews. My wife was dead set against it because it looks bulky, but now she is a big fan. The one thing I wish I would have got was the heated floors Peter suggested a few times. Since I was already spending a lot of money, it was an area where I figured I had to sacrifice. With Winter around the corner, it sure would have been nice. Other things they did was straighten out an electrical mess in the first floor half bath. The wall was open up anyway, and it was worth making it right rather than leaving some previous handyman's work from 30 years ago. They also added an electrical box and cable box for the big screen TV over the fireplace. Another project that was on my list for over a year. Was great they could open up the wall and take care if that for me. They did a lot of other stuff through the 5 weeks like insulate the attic over the bathrooms and walls properly, frame and trim out the windows in the bathrooms beautifully (wish all my windows looked like that), etc. I could go on and on with all that was done and included, but I am sure you get the feel for the type of work done. All in all they did a great job, completed on time and at the price discussed. No surprises. Thank again Peter.

All the work was completed in 10 days. The bathroom looks beautiful. One of the workers did a sloppy job with some of the grout, but when the owner saw it he had someone else fix it before I could even say anything. When I'm ready to do our other bathroom I'll call Design Invention first!
Description of Work: Design Invention redid a horribly outdated bathroom including replacing the bathtub, sink, tile and window.

Between discovering and handling unexpected problems left by previous contractors who didn't do work "up to code" and dealing with a less-than-cooperative property manager, Peter and his crew were able to solve problems on-the-spot with ingenious (and inexpensive) solutions and give us a bathroom we're extremely happy with! When a problem cropped up several months later due to a manufacturer's defect, DI corrected it for free! Now that's a quality company!
Description of Work: Did a superb bathroom remodel for half normal price, but quality was not skimped and no corners were cut! We're talking total gut rehab with all-new fixtures, cabinets, drywall, floor. We did have to pay a little extra to handle unexpected problems with an existing ceiling heating system that was installed incorrectly years ago, but DI gave us a break on the normal cost of such a task!

Peter and his team did an absolutely amazing job with remodeling my bathroom. Anyone who comes over absolutely marvels at the work that he did. There was an allotment for materials. However, I wanted to purchase and choose all of them myself so the full cost of the remodel was about $1300 since I chose items that were a bit pricier than what was allotted. Peter worked with me to pick up all of the materials that I ordered. He also worked with my other contractor to coordinate and install the granite vanity counter top. There was a mistake in the how the tile was laid in the shower, but he immediately worked to rectify and set it to my standards. I hear horror stories of difficult contractors, remodel mistakes made left and right, and overall how painful it is to go through a remodel. Overall the job was done in a timely manner and with no hitches whatsoever. This was my first home project ever and was so incredibly easy and not painful in any way shape or form.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel - included a removal of all old materials and installed new sink, vanity, medicine cabinets, floor & shower tile, and bath & sink faucetry, lighting, door frame, bath fixtures and painting of walls and ceilingTub and toilet were not replaced

All the work was completed in the time frame which was stated in the contract. But of the most importance, I made a request to advance the start date and he was able to accommodate me. There were no setbacks. THE FOLLOWING WERE ADDITIONAL ITEMS THAT WERE PROVIDED BUT WERE NOT IN THE CONTRACT: He replaced and stained the upper door leading to the basement to match my trim. He threw in a granite counter top for my bar which was not in the contract. He provided several light fixtures over the bar area.He had his workers assembly my bar stools that I had previously purchased. He replaced an existing mirror back on the wall.He prepped walls for surround sound with wire.He provided me with new blinds because when they were removed one was damaged. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM AND USE HIM FOR FUTURE REMODELING JOBS!
Description of Work: Removed existing floor coverage, existing wall and ceiling coverage. Dispose all trash, frame walls using 2x4, install R-13 insulation on exterior walls. Install 11 6" recessed lights with switches. Installed 6-8 electrical outlets, installed 1/2 drywall on walls and ceiling, apply compound sand and prime. Apply two coats of paid on walls and ceiling, install new baseboards, install 2 sets of closet doors, install new door to laundry room, apply white semi glass pain on the door and trim. Built custom bar unit to fit in selected area, install new door to crawlspace area, install porcelain tiles on basement floor for a 406 sq ft space, apply grout, update electric panel with 100 amp panel and add 4 breakers for basement. The paint job was extremely professional. I had three different colors applied.
