In my brother's own words, and I quote: "The product arrived and was put in place. Color and quality looked fine. Within 3 weeks of installation, the panels on the fronts of all the cabinets started shifting. This was noticeable when the darker cabinets started showing unfinished wood along the edges of the inner panels to the doors, and then we noticed the same was happening to the lighter color cabinets, just not as noticeable because of the tan color. I contacted the local company, who was acting as a distributor of the Diamond Masterbrand Cabinets; they contacted the local Representative for Diamond, explaining the problem. The Representative said he would call us and take care of the problem. One month later, after hearing nothing from Diamond Masterbrand Cabinets we contacted the distributor again, they called the Representative and pushed the issue to get him to come to the house to see what was happening. The Representative called us to make an appointment to come out, said he'd call the day before to make sure to make sure our schedule hadn't changed and to let us know he was coming. We never received a call! Ended up having to call the distributor again and were told Diamond Masterbrand were planning on coming later that morning. (good thing our schedule allowed for their self set visit). The Representative from Diamond Masterbrand Cabinets arrived and checked the cabinets and the issues were having; he said that particular issue was known by the company, and that it was more than likely caused by the heat in the kitchen causing the wood to expand and contract. Other than the stove in the kitchen, which was hardly used because of us having surgery and such and ordering out a lot for convenience, and not having any heat source in the kitchen, this made no sense to us. And if the company would have stained the ENTIRE panel, as was contracted to be done, before putting the doors together, any shifting would not have been noticed. At that point, we also noticed the wood on the doors splitting as well as the pantry doors warping. The Representative told us they would replace all the doors at no cost and when the doors came in, he would go a few days in advance to the distributor and inspect the doors so that when it came to installing them, there would be no problems. We were pleased with that solution and figured the problem was solved... The day the representative was to show up at 8 a.m. to put in the doors, he did not show. Then at 15 minutes later, our cellphone lets us know we have a voice message (without ever having rang through to us first) He left a message that he had been sick for the past week and would not be out to our place. (which let us know he hadn't even inspected the product yet). We discovered the reason the phone didn't ring is becuase he used an app on his phone that bypasses calling the actual person and sends your call right to the person's voicemail. When I called him back (using the same app and explaining that I could call the same way) his voicemail was a current message, leaving the date and all, and he did not sound nearly as ill as he did when he left the sneaky voicemail that he wasn't going to make it. He didn't sound ill at all. We called the distributor and their Vice President and tried contacting the representative several times with no response at all. When the distributor brought over the doors, 2 of the doors did not match in any size to any of the doors we needed. And the doors they brought also still have the same problem of the panel not being fully stained, and before even putting up the doors and having the panel shift, it still shows bare wood around the edges. Their solution was to take a black marker around the edge of the panel, which didn't work and looks worse. And the quality and amount of staining on the door is not the quality we paid for in the beginning and does not match the frame of the existing cabinets." We have continued to contact the representative and the company to find out what they plan on doing to rectify this issue but they are not returning our calls. So we are giving them an ultimatium, they contact us in 5 business days to resolve this issue or we will be involving the local Attorney General and they can deal with them to get it resolved! NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY
Description of Work: My brother John purchased top of the line cabinets for our newly remodeled kitchen from Diamond Masterbrand Cabinets. He paid for the next highest level of staining on the product, which consisted of 8 coats of staining. Total job was to be completed in five weeks.
