We had ten companies come out to look at our home. We received lowball offers to unblelievable estimates. Mal's price was right in the middle of the pack. Here is what Mal did to make himself stand out. He was the only person to come out and point out issues and potential issues. My husband has first hand knowledge of building/construction and absolutely agreed with the assessment. We were so surprised that no one noticed these things (such as adding a downspout to preserve the roof below the main one and prevent potential water damage behind the siding) we called four of the upper end companies to come back and re-estimate. Not one of them caught these things and when they were pointed out to them agreed they needed attention but couldn't offer a fix. We are so glad we chose Mal. Here is how the actual job went: First off the weather wasn't cooperating. Record rainfall meant Mal was behind on the job in front or ours. He called us everyday to report his progress. Secondly he didn't rush our job just to get to the next one. He believes in doing quality work. Case in point: his contractor was double checking our inventory sheet when he realized we did not have the thickness of insulation we ordered. They were pretty far along on that wall. It wasn't even a huge difference. They were already behind on their schedule and honestly I would never have known. That is not how he operatates. I came home to see my siding neatly stacked on the deck with them working on other things while waiting for the correct material. His workers were courteous and professional. They worked around and with my husband after my husband decided to install new windows at the very last minute. They cleaned up after themselves every day. Our siding is a few years old now and proof positive their work solid. Highly recommended! .

It went really well. The crew showed up on Monday and went to work. The lead; Greg explained what he was going to do and in what order. This team was extremely detailed and did not rush at all. I figured 3 days, but it took five. The job was performed wirth a high degree of quality and professionalism. The Leaf Relief product worked flawlessly in a thunderstorm that we got; 8 hours after they finished the job. I am extremely happy with Mal and his team and have gotten alot of positive comments from neighbors. WE would not hesitate to use this company again!

Mal was one of the first to respond to my phone calls regarding replacing and repairing siding on our home. We had a huge storm come through the neighborhood and had some damage to our home. There were hail marks on the siding as well as some siding that was blown off. Our insurance adjuster came out and granted us coverage for one side of the house. However, because there was obvious damage to another wall of the home, Mal agreed to contact my insurance company to see if he could get that side of the home covered. Mal sent in the paperwork to our insurance and met the adjustor out at our home to show him the other damage and was able to get another wall covered by our insurance plan. When we met with Mal, he said a project of our size should take about 4 days. The men who came out to do the work were very pleasant and worked hard each day. They also did a nice job cleaning up after themselves each time. One problem I had is that my plants on the side of the home did get a bit crushed and stepped on as the project went on. Also, I should mention that the project took about 2 weeks from start to finish. They had some issues with the weather--heat and rain--and some other issues that delayed the project a bit. I was ok with this because I was happy with the quality of the work overall. The wrapping of the windows, the extra insulation and Tyvek and all of the other little details I thought took more time than what I was seeing on other jobs in the neighborhood that got completed more quickly. We had some issues with the front of the house and talked with Mal about some aesthetic things in the area right as people walk to the front porch. We felt too many short pieces were being used and that the seems weren't laying as flat as we would like. Mal talked with the guys about restructuring the way the front of the house was done and replacing some of the pieces so they would fit and look tighter. Mal and his guys said there were some things that could be done to make the area look a bit better, but there were other technical issues that made then unable to change things were structured. I think in the end it looked fine. I appreciated Mal's willingness to take these details into consideration.

Mal came out and gave us a reasonable estimate. He is a good guy who cares about the company's reputation. We scheduled the work and everything went smoothly. The crew is great and easy to work with. They did a great job. We had a small problem with the window screens not easily fitting in which they said is to be expected; but they came back when we told them about it and fixed the problem -- probably making our windows better than they were to begin with. We were satisfied and Mal said they would stand behind their work if any problems arose in the future.

I called Professional Home Improvement more than 3 weeks ago because a piece of siding had come off during a wind storm. This company had done the original work, so that is why i called on them first. With a few exceptions (which were not resolved), we had been generally pleased with the outcome of the original work. With the first phone call, i got the answering service. i gave them my information and told them what i needed. i never received a call back, so i called again about 10 days later. This time i reached the Mal (or Mel). He is the person we had worked with when we had our original work done. Told him what we needed. This was a Friday. He said he would look at it Monday. To date, we have heard nothing. It has been almost 2 weeks again. I can appreciate that the job may be too small, but i still expect a call back - - - professional courtesy and good business.

We were very pleased with the final outcome. Mal is very knowledgeable of his products. Also he can look at your home and know what it needs to complete the job and have the house look great. When he spoke, he helped us visualize what the finished product would look like. Has pride in his company, the people who work for him and the products that he uses. The quote that was given was on the mark, there were no hidden costs and the payment terms were reasonable. His employees that worked on the house were very attentive, on time and diligent in their work. When we asked a question they were able to answer our questions or handle any concerns that we had. Mal came out a few time during the job to see if we had any problems or questions. The job took about 2 weeks and only took off one day due to rain. Everything he has stated about this siding is true. Our house seems quieter and the temperature throughout house is much more steady than before. We have received many compliments on our house. The edges that they use at the beginning of each level makes a big difference on the overall appearance of our house. We cannot be more pleased. We picked Professional Home Improvement based on reports and ratings he received on Angie's List and we are in agreement that this company deserve all the rewards it has earned.

The job was done fantastically, very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased.

I cannot say enough good things about this company or this team performing the work. Greg the lead on the project was the perfect example of a good project manager who also did the work and always, always checked things out with me. He always told me in advance of something not going exactly to plan and his attention to detail and desire to do the perfect job was so refreshing. I've had other work done and Greg and his team were light years ahead of anyone else that has done work on my house...i only wish he could do everything else i need. I will defiantly use them in the future for my doors and windows. To give you and example of his attention to detail, my former gutters were faded peach and the downspouts on one side are hooked into a contained to divert the water under the driver way. the connections were peach so he spraypainted them white so they would match! He did the same thing for my light on the back porch. He explained things, answered questions, and was polite and respectful. And the same for the gentleman helping him. And this house is older and was not maintained very well before i bought it, so they ran into so many issues but never stopped giving 110% and doing it the right way not the easy way. And they cleaned up very well after themselves

Our old windows were in bad shape and made of all wood. We were set on buying wood windows again because all of the trim in the house is stained wood and white vinyl windows would not look right. But on the other hand, we weren't sure about wood because they would probably need restaining again in 5-10 years. We thought that going with a good brand such as Pella would be the right way to go. We even got an estimate from Lowes. Our neighbors just got new windows with Mal and insisted we call just to talk with him, so we did. Mal had a great solution for us. His favorite brand of vinyl windows, Alside, comes in a simulated wood grain option. At first we very skeptical, but Mal had a sample window and 4 or 5 wood samples to see the colors. We still weren't sure. Then Mal pulled out his iPad with pictures of a house where he just installed similar windows. Some of the pictures were close ups showing the quality of the simulated wood. They actually looked almost like real wood. What sold us on the wood grained vinyl was the price which saved us around $3500 compared to the real wood quote from Lowes. Also, vinyl is maintenance free. Like I said we didn't want to have to stain our windows again. The day of installation went very well. Mal thought it would take 1 1/2 days to do the work but the crew of 4 got it done in 1 day. The dumpster came that morning and was hauled away the next day. Not a scratch on the driveway. The guys were very polite and hard workers. The cleanup was great, too. Our dog likes to eat anything metal so we were worried about strips of aluminum and such in the bushes and grass. When I explained this to the crew they were extra careful in the cleanup. All in all, we are very happy with the new windows and the work that Mal's crew did. Mal said he is looking into expanding into St. Charles where we live. If you live in the St. Charles area, give Mal a call. We're glad we did.

This is the first time that I used Angies list to find a service provider and I am very happy that I did. I saw that this company had almost nothing but excellent ratings and now I can see why. Mal was genuine and sincere. I could tell it really meant a lot to him to give me what I wanted and would be happy with for years to come. He even took the time to drive around my neighborhood so I could show him other houses and one in particular that I wanted mine to resemble. I could ramble on for ever but to make a long story short, my house looks unbeleivable and the detailed work they did around the front dormers with decorative moldings and the way they finished and capped all the windows is perfect. I have received so many compliments on my house now and I feel like we have the house we always wanted now. It has been almost 4 weeks now and I still smile when I pull into my driveway. I would recommend this company to anyone needing new siding

Professional Home Improvement removed all of the old siding and hauled it away. They built out the fascia boards with new wood wrap and built out all of the windows and door frames. They installed foil faced insulation and installed new siding. The appearance of the new siding is wonderful. They replaced the roof and every day they cleaned up very well too. The house looks like new!

We give Professional Home Improvement an A+++. It looks like a new house! We are so glad we decided to go with Mal Graifman. Not only is he a very personable and friendly guy which made this experience easier, but he is trustworthy. Whatever he said he was going to do, his company went beyond the call of duty. He also made a suggestion that I wouldn't have thought of, and it made such an improvement. The quality of work is excellent. They took the time to make sure it was done right. We never felt they rushed through anything to get on to the next job. The estimate was one of the lower ones. Another company wanted $16,000 more than Mal's price! We had an old shed that needed restoration badly. I'm surprised they didn't tell us to forget it! Instead they made it look beautiful and it matches the house. We have gotten so many compliments from neighbors and complete strangers who just stopped to tell us how good it looks. We mainly worked with Henry who really knows his stuff. He is also a perfectionist. There was some carpentry involved around the windows and with the house and he did a beautiful job. He was like a long-time friend. The workers were all very friendly, skilled and hard-working. They showed up at 7:30 every morning and worked hard. Thanks Guys! We are very proud of our home now. We would and will highly recommend them to people we know.

We experienced hail damage on our siding when our neighborhood was hit by storms last year. Mal inspected our house and provided a very thorough estimate. When we told him that we wanted the exterior to be maintenance-free, he gave us options on what we could do and what we should do. He also told us what he thought our insurance company would cover. He reviewed the estimate provided by our insurance company and helped us negotiate additional funds. His workmen showed up on the date promised and arrived punctually every day until the job was finished. Mal had originally told us that we might anticipate some plywood damage but that his crew would do whatever it took to make it right and would not charge us extra to fix whatever they found. As expected, we did have some damage, but Mal and his team were true to their word. We are very pleased with the quality of the work performed. Our house is much more attractive and insulated much better than it has ever been. We did experience one oversight around one of our doors, but after Mal was informed about it, the crew was out the very next day to correct it, and did a great job.

When we decided to side the house we solicited bids from four companies that all had good Angie's List ratings. Professional Home Improvements wasn't the cheapest or most expensive bid. It was however, the most detailed and complete bids we received.. The company owner, Mal Graifman, came out to give us our estimate and spent about an hour showing us in detail not only pictures of completed jobs but also step by step pictures of exactly how his crews installed the insulation, vapor barrier, flashing, etc.. By the end of his presentation,it was clear to me that they were as concerned with a proper installation job as I was. My cedar siding was still a tight building envelope and his presentation convinced me that his standards would also give me a tight envelope over my existing one. Plus,all the details of the construction were written into the proposal, so there would be no confusion over what was included. The cheaper bids we had were more of a "we will come and side your house" variety so it was unknown what their standard job would look like. We signed the contract on the Thursday before labor Day and the crew showed up at 7:30 AM on the Tuesday after labor Day. The onsite foreman,Gregg, and his partner were polite and professional. They were there every day on time, asked permission to store their ladders in the back yard and the materials in the driveway next to the dumpster, and were very easy to work with. If there were options on how to install a particular section of the job, they rang the doorbell, showed us the options then asked what we wanted. In one case they even made up two six foot long examples of a particular item and then held them up so we could choose. The installation went very well. There were only two times where we saw minor issues and when we pointed them out to Gregg, he said he would fix them to suit us. They left the site broom clean every day. We are very happy with the overall job and our neighbors have been very complimentary of how the finished product looks. Plus,now I don't have to get up on a 20 foot ladder and paint ever again. I recommend Professional Home Improvements highly.

After Mal had presented his offerings and measured the windows and gutters to be replaced I never heard from him again.

We had a number of contractors out to estimate our siding job. Mal had a competitive estimate and offered competitive products. What really made Mal standout from the other contractors we had out was his thoroughness. Where other contractors simply said we will install this or that and we recommend this, Mal took the time to explain why he was recommending something and why they installed something. In addition to talking about it we took a walk around the house and he pointed out how things would work even comparing to other recent siding jobs done on our street. Another nice thing that Mal did was bring along an iPAD to show us numerous detailed before/after photos of other jobs he had done. Once we finally settled on using Professional Home Improvement we need to get the details hammered out. Rather than sitting at our kitchen table speculating on what might or might not look good on our house, Mal got in our car with us and drove around our neighborhood to look at siding and windows we liked and didn't like. Mal's expertise really came through at this point, he was able to recommend things we hadn't thought about helping us to make a decision on what would look best on our house. Mal did all this without trying to "up sell" anything. In fact, he did just the opposite in persuading us to not do some stuff that would have cost extra. And if all the expertise Mal has wasn't enough...He even brought skittles for our kids! When the work started there was of course an immediate snag, concern over some portions of the wall behind the old siding. I called Mal and he was onsite in 5-10 minutes to discuss the course of action with us and his crew. They quickly had a good resolution and got back to the task at hand. In addition to the siding we were replacing to very old windows. One of the windows to be replaced was an old glass block window in a shower. When the old window was taken out my wife noticed that there was quite a bit of wetness in the opening. The crew ended up taking off some siding they had already replaced, cutting the wall apart from the outside and discovering a major problem. Water had been seeping down in the insulation and wood for a long time. So, they ended up replacing everything in that section of wall that was water damaged. Big Save! Overall the crew was very good at what they do and made our house look great. My wife liked the crew enough to the point she even baked brownies for them and offered them refreshments. I would definitely hire Mal again.

The quality of work was high and very professional. However, during a blizzard this year (2 years after installation) a piece of fascia blew off. I've tried to contact the company to do the repair, but they never returned my emails and phone calls. I'll have to find another company to do the repair. *** Update After seeing this review, this company said that they did not realize I tried to contact them. They then immediately replaced the damaged fascia. I expected to to be billed for it, but I did not get an invoice. Thanks Mal! . . . and Angie!

We had several bids on our large roof and were prepared to go with another contractor, when our neighbor suggested using Professional Home Improvement Inc. as she was very satisfied with the roofing replacement they did for her. We looked them up on Angies List and then called them for a bid. Mal had his foreman measure our roof, and then made an appointment to come out to see us with his bid. Out of the 6 bids we had Mal was the only person to actually come out in person to see us and explain what his company had to offer and show us his insurance papers and GAF certification certificate. The other companies only emailed or mailed bids with no follow up, even though the bids varied from $25,000 to $50,000 for a new roof. Mal's bid was was one of the two lower bids we had received. When the permit was received, the crew came out. A large, very, very professional crew that really knew what they were doing. They are GAF Certified Installers and it showed! The work was done quickly, neatly and excellently. They took care to cause no damage to plants and the yard was spotless when they finished. Mal went over our problem areas with us and his foreman, and made sure they would never be a problem in the future, as this time they were done correctly. We couldn't have been happier with the work they did and would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about replacing their roof.

The siding and windows were great quality.The workers were professional and spoke english, which is important to me. The time frame they indicated was right on. The price was exactly what was agreed upon. No "I need more because..." The owner, Mal was great to work with. He went above and beyond and even did some work that wasn't part of the job. I'd say go for it if you are considering this kind of work.

Workmen came on time, finished in a timely manner, and did a professinal job.

They showed up on time and were quiet. They came to work and were in and out. For all the work they did I think I only found two nails outside of a window. They cleaned up so well that they did not leave a single scrap besides that. They also respected my landscaping.

We wanted that WOW look and we got it! We are extremely pleased of the workmenship. Mal is a very friendly and professional person. When Mal came to the house he took all the measurements and explained everything about the siding, underlayment, tyvek house wrap and more. It was in a few weeks the installers arrived. Eventhough the weather was very hot and in the 90's they were very professional, friendly and hardworkers. When they were done for the day they cleaned up every day. I love the hand split shakes in front of the house and adding the extra wood trim on the top and bottom of the three post changed the whole appearance of the house. It felt just like HGTV curb appeal! Everyone that drove by would stop and look at the house. The neighbor's would come by and tell me what a fabalous job they were doing. The back of the house is also fabalous. Mal's crew worked very hard and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend Professional Home Improvement.

Mal came out to measure and estimate the job. Very friendly and professional man. He gave us lots of great advice outside of the scope of the project itself, and gave us a price. Mal told us when the project would be done, and what we needed to do to prep for it. The workers were friendly, and very professional. They hadn't been told some of the things we needed added to the structure, and they still made everything happen for us seamlessly. They were quiet, clean, and hard working. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the result, and would recommend them to anyone.

Professional Home Improvement was very professional from start to finish. Mal was very professional putting together an estimate for us and talked us through the entire project providing us input on his suggestions on color and style and bringing up potential issues that we had not considered. After we agreed to have them handle our siding they started about a week later and although they told us it would take 2 weeks to finish, they completed the job in 1 week. They worked daily from 7am to 5pm and cleaned up thoroughly every evening. We are very pleased with the completed project and would recommend them to anyone looking to replace their siding.
