Last winter we had our bathroom remodeled to more appropriately accommodate me in my recovery process and moving forward from several strokes. We had a rep come out to give us a quote based on what we wanted/would need and after some convincing and offering of discounts, we settled on a price and worked out a loan agreement to get it done. The project was to turn our bathtub in our main bathroom into a standing shower with a grab bar to allow for ease of entry and exit for myself, plus a wider vanity to allow for both myself and my wife to use the sink at the same time. We also opted to replace the flooring, which was tile, to a vinyl that became less cool and easy to walk on. We picked out the design and style with the rep who's name I don't remember, and set a date for everything to be done. The first issue after the fact that we noticed, was that the wrong vanity had been installed. When this issue was raised, the solution was to reimburse us for part of the installation because that seemed easier at the time. Fine. Everything else seemed to be ok, so we let it go and moved on. Fast forward to today, we had a drainage issue with that shower stall and called a plumber to address the issue. In the process of doing that, he discovered that the pipe for the shower drain, which had been moved from its original placement on the initial install, had not only been installed incorrectly, but had been sealed improperly and now that the seal has begun to erode away is causing a small (for now) leak. We now have a quote for an exploration into the problem where the other company will have to open up part of the celling in the basement in order to assess the issue and determine a correct fix. That this problem exists in the first place is unacceptable and we are frankly livid with the matter.

We signed a contract for a basement from Matrix Basement Finishing in August 2024. Since that point, it's become clear that Matrix systemically lies and uses unethical business practices to win business from customers. First, they ensure they are the first in the door. This alone isn't unethical, but they then proceed to initiate extremely high-pressure sales tactics and come in at an estimate at least 30% higher than what would be considered a "fair" estimate. They hold a "signing day" discount hostage unless you sign the same day they do the consultation. They then proceed to give a big show with their salesperson calling some "manager" to get a "discount" down to what would be considered a more fair (but still inflated) price. Talking with neighbors, their sales team is regularly unprofessional and rude. They make a lot of promises verbally but are careful to not put anything in writing. We had a litany of issues throughout the project too long to post here.

Wow is all I can say. I stopped by one of my friend's house and I was blown away with the quality and the attention to detail Matrix provided for him during his mancave basement build. Beautiful workmanship all around especially with the oak bar build. He was also happy how well they worked with them throughout the entire process. I had heard good things about how well the process went but the end result was top tier. I could definitely hear the excitement in my friends voice when he finally could hang out once Matrix was done with his basement. I will definitely be using his mancave to gather what I want for when I hire Matrix in the future.

Matrix was exceptional over the course of the project management process. The project manager was professional, efficient, and flexible. The design phase was accomplished with professional designers who listened to my requirements and vision and produced design documents that didn’t change much over the course of the project. In instances where adjustments were needed, I was informed immediately and advised accordingly. It should be noted that very few unexpected costs were encountered. The project manager was receptive and accommodating to custom work needed on the project. For example, I needed a special access panel for my whirlpool. The Matrix team responded by consulting with experts and designing and implementing an effective and sleek solution that did not result in cost or time overrun for me. All sub teams were professional, timely, and effective. There were very few surprises, which is a testament to how well the project manager was organized and communicated effectively. I was very pleased with how each team protected my personal property over the course of the build. Overall, Matrix did an exceptional job and exceeded my expectations. I would go with them again without hesitation.

Matrix's contractor and subcontractors were great to work with. Everyone was punctual, kind, and efficient. When problems came up, we were notified right away. Our project manager was communicative and came through often to scope the work and ensure it was done correctly.

This was my first time finishing my basement with Matrix. They did a great job with everything!
