+ -1 moreI was impressed with their whole process, from how the initial phone call was handled through the actual consultation. The gentleman who came was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and honest. He told me that what I needed was simple enough that I or a handyman could do it, and it would be less expensive than if I went with their minimum charge. He described how to do it, and was full of helpful and useful advice. I was delighted that he was honest enough to save me money.
Description of Work: I requested a consultation to amend my bathroom to be more handicap accessible.

Description of Work: My mom needed a stairlift. I shopped around quite a bit, but chose EHLS for both the price and the people. Jim Whittington, in particular, was outstanding. Very diligent, accommodating and compassionate. I'd hire EHLS again in a minute.

I interviewed 9 of them but every time I was interviewing another contractor it would go up 5 or $10,000.00 more so I went back to somebody who hadn't gotten back to me yet and they did finish the project. What they do is they have multi-million dollar contracts with the city but they wanted to get into doing, spread out and also doing condos like mine. What they do is renovate bathrooms and kitchens so that people, instead of moving out of their homes can stay in their home can cook and use their bathrooms without moving into a nursing home. They did a great job. It was good, very good. I had lower bids but I felt more comfortable with him because he had worked with my girlfriend before.
Description of Work: They remodeled my condo. I had a flood in my place. I had to gut my place. I had to replace the floors and the kitchen cabinets. They also painted and installed wood floors for me.

Description of Work: Extended Living installed a stair lift in our home. The office personnel made a prompt appointment and the installer was on time. He explained everything he would be doing in advance and the installation was done in the expected time. When we had a problem with the stairlift in the early weeks, Extended Living sent out someone within a day or two to fix it. We have had no problems since.

Description of Work: This was normal service for a residential elevator they previously installed. Two techs came and worked on the unit for about an hour and half.

+ -1 moreThat is not what they did. I was terrifically disappointed because water pools in the middle of the tile floor and they only tiled the walls in the existing shower area. When I complained I was told the contract clearly stated that there would be a specific slope to the floor and that that slope didn't allow for a true wet room because the bath was too small. No one told me that, they just did their work with out ever saying they could not do what I had asked and had been told they would do. They did make a few additional changes to try to rectify what they hadn't done correctly, but when I complained and asked them to redo the work they threatened to sue me if I didn't pay them for the work immediately. At the time my husband was very ill, he passed away a few weeks later, and I didn't have the time or heart to do battle.
Description of Work: EHLS was supposed to remodeled our master bathroom to make it a 'wet room' and wheel chair accessible. The sales man said contractor would make the bathroom into a 'wet room'. That was his term, wet room, and exactly what I needed for bathing my very ill husband.

What is most important is that they would not install the stairlift unless it was perfect, came back to reevaluate what needed to be done, refabricated some parts, and installed it only after being very careful that it would work perfectly. I am extremely pleased with my interaction with everyone at EHLS and recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: I needed a three level stairlift installed in an older condominium. This was an unusual configuration because of the three turns needed to have a continuous rail instead of three separate rails and chairs. Everyone was professional, knowledgeable about their product and explained what was needed and how the work would be done.

Description of Work: Ordered stairlift on 03/04/2010 when visited by a salesman. He measured the area on which the rail and lift would operate, explained safety features etc. On 03/09,the liftt was installed, adjusted to my height instructions were reviewed. The technician had me use the lift several times, reviewed the safety features and was done in about 21/2 hours.

+ -1 moreThe whole project was a huge headache and once the elevator started working like it was supposed to they no longer service us and feel we paid $50k to a company who is now leaving us behind! -------------------- Update: Since this time we have continued to use this company for service and I rate them excellent.
Description of Work: I contacted Extended Home Living to get a quote on installing a residential elevator due to a family member having a disability. I knew the project was not going to be easy since they would need to cut a hole through the center of my house. They quoted the project and suggested a specific elevator which would be great and said it would be done in a timely manner. We ended up moving out due to the dust for 2 months with my parents. When it was finally done it took a year for them to get it tweeked correctly to open and shut without problems. The service men have always been great! Axel was our favorite and even remembered my sons name everytime he came. Now I have an issue and it is stuck between floors and called for service and they say they no longer service my specific elevator anymore and suggested a new company. It would have been nice if they had sent us something or gave a call to say we no longer service you and if you have any problems in the future please call Access.

+ -1 moreThe casing seems to come loose very easily and the second time it actually stopped the lift from operating. Both times I received same day service performed by Ken in a very professional manner. Neither time cost me anything as the unit is still under warranty. I am not sure if I am as positive about the Bruno lift as I am about the company but will definitely use them again if a need arises. The quality of their work exceeds that of my lift.
Description of Work: The original estimate and installation were completed on time, on budget and very professionally. I have had to call them twice since to come and fix the stair lift.

+ -1 moreOur chairlift had started making grinding noises part way up the stairs. Extended Home Living still had a record of our installation in their system when I called, and had a service person scheduled to be in our area the next week. This was on a day when we had already had several appointments scheduled, however, so this could have been a problem, but the service representative, Will, was VERY prompt, showing up right at the start of the time period we were given to expect him. He worked quickly and neatly, found it was only two bearings that had gone bad, and explained what he was doing and what annual maintenance he recommended.
Description of Work: Serviced a chairlift previously installed by them 8 years ago. Replaced two bearings, cleaned and re-greased track, and tested unit.
