Met with the owner Troy Palmer who seemed very knowledgeable and provided me with a clear plan of exactly what they would do and an estimate. This impressed me and I accepted the bid. After that point, I did not see Troy again, his crew arrived to do the work and I was left explaining Troy's plan to the people actually performing the work. In fairness, the first day the crew "boss" was on site for a little while, but then I was left with the two day laborers who didn't speak english. They did an ok job, but preferred to use our tools over their own (like our brand new $350 ladder). It was a hassle to explain the plan to each new worker and several times they said they were done, but hadn't finished the items agreed to. It almost seemed like they were trying to do the minimum amount of work and call it done. Very unprofessional job and contractor. In the end, I required Troy to meet with me again before getting paid so that I let him know how unprofessional they were.
