Al's Help

It started with two earnest young people going door to door looking for business. My wife who has a soft spot for hard working young people wanted to give them a chance so she agreed to let them spray the house that day for $49. They then threw a contract down in front of her and talked to her continuously as she attempted to read it. Finally she signed the contract and they sprayed the house. The sales people kept emphasizing you could cancel the contract at any time with no pressure or problems. Plus we are both middle aged and didn't have our reading glasses for the contract. After six weeks I called to cancel the contract as they stated we could and the receptionist informed us that we had a $250 cancellation fee. After looking at the contract in the small print they kept distracting my wife from reading is a cancellation contract showing the charge for the fee is $299 less the amount paid in the first treatment. This contract term was specifically avoided by the sales people and quite unreasonable based on others pricing for pest control treatments. It appears to us that this is a trick they use to get unwary people into exorbitant contracts. We are both Masters educated and were very busy when they appeared. In a moment of weakness we didn't use our better judgment and now get to deal with this. As if like isn't difficult enough having to protect yourself from people who are intent on doing harm to your property through a scam is just a great topper. Congratulations, Al you got us.
