I purchased a DealChicken voucher
for air duct cleaning by A
Absolute Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning in Des Moines, Iowa on 8/19/2013. I scheduled an
appointment and the service was provided on 8/23/2013. The employee, Dylan, was
respectful although I felt he was a little pushy about trying to get me to
purchase additional services. I had them clean our air vents, air intake vents,
and our dryer vent while he was here. After he left, my husband noticed that
our dryer vent cover had been broken off. Since it was a Friday evening, I called
the company back on Monday, 8/26/2013, and spoke with the secretary. She took
my message and said someone would call me back later that day. I did not
receive a phone call, so I called the company again on 8/28/2013 and spoke with
the manager. He said he would make sure Dylan came out to our house to take a
look at the problem. Dylan came out on Friday, 8/30/2013 and looked at the
broken vent. He called his manager while here and said that he could probably
purchase one of the broken pieces at Home Depot and take care of it the
following week. He took a broken piece with him when he left. He did not show
up the following week and I did not hear anything from him, nor the company
that week. So, I again called on Monday, 9/9/2013 and spoke with the same
manager. I told him that Dylan had not taken care of the problem like he said
he would and I would like to know when it would be taken care of. The man was
extremely unprofessional with me on the phone and told me that Dylan would be
fired since he said he would take care of it and he didn?t. He basically told
me that he could find another job. I was a little taken aback by his comment because
it was so unprofessional, and it still did not address my issue. He assured me
that one of his other guys would be out later that week or the next to take
care of the issue. I did not receive a call nor did anyone stop by, so I again
called on 9/18/2013 and spoke with the same manager. I told him who I was and
that no one had been by our house to look at the vent or has contacted me about
taking care of it. He then told me that his guy was out this week, but would be
able to stop by next week to take care of it. I then expressed my frustration
that I had been getting the ?run around? already as it had been nearly four
weeks since I contacted them with my original problem. He then raised his voice
at me and told me that he didn?t have to listen to me if I was going to yell at
him. I calmly told him that I was not yelling at him, I was simply frustrated
that a problem they promised me would be taken care of, had not been. He proceeded
to tell me that he had not
?promised? anything to me and that I signed a contract releasing them from any
damages or liability (this is the first time that he had ever mentioned the
contract). I then told him that I thought it was very professional of him to
speak to me the way he was and that it wasn?t a very good way to run a business
if they promised to take care of issues and then not. He then hung up on me.
First of all, I am shocked that a company can have customer
service that is this poor and still be in business. I have NEVER been treated
so unprofessionally and rude on the phone while dealing with a business. Yes, I
signed a contract that does release the company from liability if they damage
an air vent cover. This would have been fine if this had been mentioned to me
in one of the first phone calls. While I would have still been upset that they
broke something and can?t take care of it, I would understand because it was in
the contract. What I am frustrated about is the fact that they said they would
take care of the problem and fix it for me and then proceeded to give me the ?run
around for a few weeks, fire the guy for not taking care of the problem, and
then yell at ME for calling to express my frustration that the issue had not
been dealt with.
