First, I need to mention that I have to date, paid Ms. Moore for 3 cleaning jobs but have only received two cleaning jobs and I'm fine with it. The first job July 15, 2009 went as predicted lots of questions, but after responding in the affirmative as to whether I wanted her to dust my bookshelves, she left that job: 1) not having dusting my shelves,2) not cleaning all the baseboards, 3)not having vacuum any rooms( she told me she knew the vacuum wasn't working but didn't want to bother me.) Turned out she had the vacuum setting on hose, but conveyed to me that she had vacuumed that day and did not mention a problem with the vacuum cleaner when she was done and I was writing her check. The second cleaning job dated August 6, 2009, She did not have all of her cleaning equipment with her notably floor cleaner, so she used Mr. Clean, but did not properly rinse it of so after she left both my husband and I slipped on the tile floors from the build up. Questionable, as to whether guest shower and tub ever got cleaned, because when I ran my finger along the shower wall there was dust fluff and the tub wall had dust residue. Also on this day Ms. Moore came to me with a new list of the same services, but some had new additional prices on them-- which countered our original agreement. When asked she replied this is "what she's now doing". Brings us to August 27, 2009-- last minute I had to cancel on her but I told her if she could come to the house I would pay her, for next week in advance. She was ok with that, on the phone. But once she arrived at my house over an hour after the normal time brings a flyer she wants me to have dictating a 48 hour cancellation policy she claims she's had. When I told her I'm not aware of that and that it wasn't negotiated in our contract she stated "that she changes things all the time". After trying to explain to her that if she would like that cancellation policy in we would have to negotiate the contract again, she stated that she knows its not in our contract but it applies, because another client felt bad for her canceling on her and paid her full price for the date she wasn't going to clean and full price on the makeup day. When I told her thats unreasonable I wasn't going to pay her full price for two weeks, when I only hire her every other week, and while I was happy to pay her in advance for a makeup day, we would have to renegotiate a cancellation policy, she kept deferring to what her other client had done for her. I paid her for today even though she did not clean and discontinue service with her. To sum up, cleaning was average in quality, every time she came less things got cleaned thoroughly, she was consistently changing her terms on me without negotiating. She needed a lot of instruction which meant I got a lot less accomplished myself on those days. I don't know how to put this gently but she is not literate which I believed looking back on it caused a lot of mistrust on her part, and explains why she disregarded the terms in our contract and continued to change terms. As a service professional she brought way too much personal baggage to the job, i.e. about what has happened in personal life that there weren't sufficient boundaries. Her claim to stay until the client is satisfied is also misleading. At least in my experience she was always rushing and prodding me to tell her she did a good job, if I commented on something that wasn't to my satisfaction her response was, "either I don't do that, so that would be extra" (when she cleaned that item before) or "I did clean it". The last cleaning job on August 6, 2009, she placed my personal effects i.e. shaver and other toiletries in a dirty mop bucket in our master bathroom, my husband found them and had to wash them, this on top of feeling as though I was paying her the same to clean less and less each time was enough reason to discontinue service. However, but when she wasn't satisfied with me paying her now to reschedule, and she expected me to pay her full price for not cleaning today and full price on the makeup day for a 48 hour cancellation policy she did not have at the time of contract I had to let her go. I wish her well with her new clients, but I will no longer be one of them. By the way, to date, she is not bonded or licensed.
