Overall, the job did not go well. Although Mr. Ramsey did a good job installing some of the tile (He tiled the small bath, the utility room with the wrong tile, and kitchen after Home Depot brought a new shipment of tile, but he did not grout it). He is strong willed and believes that he should do what he wants. When he was confronted about not doing what we directed, he cursed, left us with all his unfinished work, packed his equipment, did not say a word to us, and called back to leave a message that he left the garage door opener in the mailbox. We have assumed that he has left the job and left us stranded. All our appliances are in the garage. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, but we cannot cook, wash clothes, dry clothes, or get to our refrigerator.
Description of Work: Mr. Roger Ramsey gave me an estimate to tile my kitchen, two bathrooms and utility rooom for $2,3050.00. My husband and I were to buy the tile, and he was to supply everything else. I told him to only do the kitchen and the utlity room. Then, I would see how those rooms look and make a decision about the two bathrooms. He started tiling the kitchen and found that Home Depot had given us 14 boxes (9 boxes of one size and 5 boxes of another size) of tile. So, he only tiled less than half of the kitchen floor because the other tiles were larger. He then used the extra tile left from the kitchen to tile the utility room although we had instructed him that the white title (different colors) that we wanted him to use for the baths and utility rooms were in the garage. After I got home and found he had used the wrong title, I called him and told him so. He said I didn't have enough of white tile and basically ignored me. After I thought about the fact that he should not come in our home and do what he wanted and we pay him, I decided to confront him. I then told him that he should have told me, and I would have bought more tile, but it was unfair to us for him to make a decision without consulting us. Then, he changed his story and said he heard us say to use the kitchen tile. When I told him he needed to change the tile because I didn't like it. Then, he became loud and abusive in language because I also told him that I would not pay him for work I had not authorized him to do. He really became belligerant and ripped up the threshold, packed his material, and left my house. He left the kitchen floor unfinished, our stove, washer, dryer, and doors that he had taken off hinges to install the tile in the garage.
