The clog could not be cleared the first way the tech determined so he attempted to clear it through the roof which was at the higher price. During his attempt to clear the clog from the roof with the snake, his cable disconnected down the vent which caused him the need to run a retriever. The retriever went through the vent and broke an angle pipe which then needed to be repaired. Eight hours later and an addtional technician, our simple clogged sink was finally cleared. However, an additional $173.00 was added to our bill to repair the broken vent caused by the technician stating that a wrong degree angle pipe was installed in our attic and that it why the retriver broke through. We made several calls to the office to question the additional fee and the need to even go through the roof in the first place. One call was returned from the office staff assuring us that it was still under review. It has been almost two months now, and we have not heard back from them.
Description of Work: We had a clogged drain in our kitchen sink. We looked on Angie's List to find a plumber and chose Red Cap based on reviews and discount off of the service call fee. Left a messgae with the service and received a call back right away. Their tech arrived on time and he explained how he would troubleshoot the problem to determine the fix that was needed and explained the difference in pricing depending on which fix would be needed after doing his penny drop test. The test determined it could be cleared one way and we were given a set price.

Very well! Chris found the problem to the shower and sink almost immediately, very experienced! He used a book with pricing to give me an estimate of the materials and labor. Seemed expensive for the little labor involved and the small part needed, this may be the industry. He left to get the part needed for the shower and came back within a reasonable amount of time. Not only was Chris knowledgeable and professional about his job, but he was genuinely kind especially with my 9 month old and my dog. Thanks Chris!

Paul's work was neat and professional. He explained everything and was very helpful in clearly understanding what's next.
Description of Work: My husband called Red Cap Plumbing based upon my recommendation from Angie's List Monday morning, 10/31, to ask for an estimate on replacing our broken water heater. They sent representative Paul within 2 hours of calling. Paul walked through all of the steps and the pricing for each option available. Once we selected the option we wanted, Paul immediately ordered the new water heater for delivery. It was delivered within an hour and Paul installed the new water heater, providing my husband with instructions and warranty information.

Our Water Heater sprung a leak. I chose Red Cap because they had best rating on Angie's list. I noticed that most ratings & comments indicated that Red Cap pricing was not the lowest and that we should expect to pay a bit more. I was OK with that in return for quick and efficient service. The Red Cap Technician (Ocy) came out promptly and evaluated the situation. Our tank was still under warranty and needed to be replaced. I asked how long he expected the job to take and he indicated approximately 3 hours. Red Cap quoted the job at $1800!! I was stunned!! That's a labor rate of $600/hour!! I reminded him that we were getting the tank and parts for FREE!! He called the office back and let them know that I was "not satisfied" with the quote. They lowered it to $1415.43. That's $471.81 per hour. The best attorney in Tampa does not charge $472/hour! I found Ocy to be very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. However, I had to send him away without performing the job. I called in my local plumber (Charles Hero Plumbing) and they charged me $405 to replace the Water Heater. Everything is working properly. They were clean, efficient, and completed the job in just 2 hours.

From the moment I called the company until the plumber left, things could not have gone more smoothly or professionally. Very impressed in comparison with previous experiences with other companies. I especially appreciated the fact that the plumber zeroed in on the actual problem instead of spending time talking me into additional purchases.
Description of Work: Hot water stopped flowing. I figured it was at the water heater so consulted Angie's List and called Red Cap Plumbing. They were very nice and the plumber arrived 1 hour later which was after normal business hours. The plumber Paul, quickly found the problem in the cold water inlet valve into the top of the water heater. He took out the valve, and constructed a new section in his truck and then brought it in and soldered the section into inlet section. It has been working perfectly and he left everything neat and tidy. I decided to pay extra for the service agreement and am a satisfied customer who will be calling Red Cap in the future for all plumbing problems.

Had them assess my old water heater to see if it could be repaired (it couldn't) and then recommend a new model. I was interested in the tankless option, but that is not available unless you have natural gas. I was looking for something in the $800-1000 range, but I ended up opting for a unit with a 10-year warranty that drove the price up to $1100. While that was a bit more than I had hoped to pay, overall they were a good company and easy to work with.

I got an on-site estimate the same day I called and the work was completed the following morning/afternoon in about 3.5 hours. Two men were needed to remore the old heater from my attic and to drain, remove and dispose of the old one, which was an unpleasant job. No glitches, delays or unexpected additional charges.
Description of Work: Red Cap replaced an old 40-gallon water heater that was located in the attic of my 50+ year old home (with pull-down stairs, no less). In late August in Tampa, this was a tough job, and they did it efficiently and well. I think it might be possible to find an equaly good plumber for a bit less, but I didn't want to get more than a couple of estimates, as I'd been without hot water for a few days. I was completely satisfied with the professionalism and quality of service I received. So far the new water heater seems to be working well. Service personnel were pleasant, prompt and competent. Would recommend.

I called about 6am Friday morning and left a message with their answering service. Rather than wait for a call back, I called again at 9:15am because I said I would be available after 9:30am. The phone representative advised me that she could send out a plumber the same day. Same day service...wow! I advised that I would be available after 2:30. My appointment was set up between 3 and 5 that same afternoon. In the meantime, the representative, Rhonda, called me back to say that a plumber would be available earlier if I would like. I appreciated their paying attention to the appointment. The plumber showed up on time. They covered their shoes, which I appreciated. He successfully unclogged the drain. He was very neat and cleaned up after himself and replaced everything that had been removed from underneath the sink. As an Angie's List member, they waived the travel fee of $29.95. I was also able to use a $25 discount that I received in the mail from them, having been a customer previously. So, I received a total savings of $54.95. I would highly recommend their service. Especially because they offer a feature I have never seen or received from a plumbing company in the past. Red Cap emailed me a photo of the plumber that was coming to my home, so I know what he looks like. They also included his name and provided "asktheseal.com" which does a criminal background check, which I found very useful and helpful. Even though it cost an arm and leg, it was well worth it.

Called Company about 8am this morning. Described my problem that our toilet had clogged and backed up into the shower as well as the tub. They said someone could come out at no cost to give estimate/look at problem due to our being members of Angie's List. The office called at 9:15 to tell me that the tech was on his way. (NOTE: They sent an email w/a picture/description of the tech so I would feel more comfortable allowing him into my home...THAT was wonderful) Mike, the Tech, arrived about 10 min later. Took a look around and gave me price options on what could be done. All options were written out on a formal paper. I agreed to having the camera/snake and then we go from there.* I was told by another company that we would need to do major reconstruction to piping b/c of a belly in the pipes. Mike did the snake/camera and came back in to go over his findings. Said the clogg was caused by femanine products (Flushable tampons) Although they are advertised as flushable, they are the main cause of back up in all systems, other than roots (per Mike). He removed the problem and said the belly was not bad enough w/build up to warrant a pressure (jet) and that should be good. He saved me a great deal of money as I did not see the belly and he could have given a bad report w/out my knowing the difference. I bought the Extended Agreement to ease my mind as this bathroom has backed up twice since we have lived here. He also offered a bio proventative treatment I use in the drain once a month to help keep the oils f/building up. (No pressure in buying it but just suggested it as precautionary) Over all, I was very happy with this company from the moment they answered the phone until Mike left our home! I would recommend them to anyone!

The company was very responsive and came immediately. the workers were very neat and courteous. Work was done. A fews weeks later, my pool service told me that one of the faucets was leaking. I called Red Cap and they sent someone out immediately ( 1 hr). It was the original installer. The PVC was cracked. The worker said that he could've have done it when he installed the faucet so he repaired it at no charge.
Description of Work: I called them because I had aclogged toilet in my guest bath and I had houseguests at the time. While they were here I had 2 outside faucets that were leaking replaced. I am not sure how good the price was because I had no other estimates. (Note: price includes $94 for a 1 year service contract.) I probably could have saved some additional money if I had supplied the faucets.

I was pleased at the work that was performed at my business. Fast, effecient, even though the price was kind of high. So I called them for my home issues. Unfortunately my wife was there so she met with the plumber from Red Cap and couldnt speak in service jargan and professional I had a couple issues: Leaky shower knob, I didnt get a clear answer on this so when I called TWICE to get the service guy to call me, never got a call back. Shower drain that needed to be snaked, He qouted us about $120-140 some bucks and offered a snake program than... yadda yadda yadda. I had another guys just do it for $60, and it took him 5 minutes. and I needed an opinion about adding a water line in a block wall to the fridge. Never got that call back. I left a message with the call center who at one point never scheduled the first meeting I had set up. My wife paid their $30 service fee! My suggestion to you is, if you use Red Cap, know what needs to be done, get some prices from them in advance, and dont expect any special service. -James

The plumbers from Red Cap Plumbing Company did a great job. However, we do have a little bit of a problem with a separate valve that they had installed. I think that they needed to install a heavy duty valve. We are planning to call them to have them replace that. Other than that, they were superb. They were on time. They never made a mess. I would use them in the future.

I had nearly finished mowing my acre-sized lot on Saturday, 3/19/11, when I got too close to a faucet my husband had installed in the backyard near our burn-pit several years ago. It was strapped to a small tree and I just clipped the protruding faucet which busted the whole thing off resulting in a small "Old Faithful" effect. I had to turn off the water to the entire house. I knew what to do, but I didn't have the stuff. I'd seen my husband use some kind of purple stuff, then some kind of glue to put these PVC pipes together before. Problem was, I was filthy from mowing and I now had no water, and it was getting late. We have a bucket of PVC pipe parts in the shed, so I stupidly tried to duct-tape another pipe and stopper into the pipe that was sticking up from the ground. When that didn't work, I tried variations of MORE duct tape and rubber bands. Of course, nothing worked. The squirrels were laughing at me every time my fix got blown up when the water was turned back on. I finally got tired of entertaining the squirrels and tried to call a nice gentleman that had helped me out with my water softener system, but he was not available. I was hesitant to call Red Cap again (had used them in November, 2010) because they are so expensive, but I felt there was no choice. The technician, Mike, was very nice and professional. I knew what he had to do to fix the pipe, so I was hoping it wouldn't be too pricey. He did a good job of replacing the busted pipe and strapped it to the tree. He also replaced the faucet, even though I don't believe it was defective - I believe this was due to some kind of regulation - still not sure. The new hosebib cost $69.00 (maybe I'm wrong, but I can't believe they cost that much at Lowe's) and the PVC repair was $214.00 for a total of $283.00. The good news was I saved 15% since I had the Ultimate Service Agreement in effect until November, 2011 plus I printed out a $25.00 coupon from Angie's List. My total bill was $221.00. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't know what was involved and how cheap it would have been to fix it on my own if I hadn't been filthy and felt a little more confident in my own abilities. Part of the problem, also, was that it was getting dark and I didn't relish a night of no water in the house. I can't say anything against the professionalism of the technician, Mike; but I think their prices are absolutely monstrous.
Description of Work: I had a broken PVC pipe in the backyard faucet as a result of my negligence with the riding mower. I used Red Cap in November, 2010 and had bought their Ultimate Service Agreement for $94.00 at that time, so I went ahead and called them. The technician, Mike, was very professional and friendly. The price, however, was horrible. He did repair my pipe and put a new hosebib on. The pipe was satisfactorily repaired.

We are not sure about the work. I will update after 6 months.
Description of Work: We got royally cheated by these guys. The person who came to give us an estimate made it look that some major was wrong. The next day when they came to do the actual work, the person said the damage was not that much. He said he will me a "Discount", and I thought it was a cash discount. It ended up that the "Discount" was on future services. It was done so professionally. The actual cost of the work would have costed us only 500 dollars, but we ended up paying 1400 dollars.
