He determined that it was probably a power surge from an electrical storm. He couldn’t fix the TV, but he helped me put up my new TV. He called a couple days later to see how everything was doing. He was really nice.

Mike showed up on time, replaced the lamp and thermostat as mentioned. But he had me write the check in his name instead of the businesses name, which was a little questionable and didn't give me an invoice/bill/receipt so I could use it for tax purposes as the television is located in a rental home. The price, although high, was in the range that I expected. I didn't really see any of the "professionalism" that others have mentioned, other than arriving on time.
Description of Work: Replaced lamp and thermostat on my Mitsubishi 61" DLP television.

Mike E arrived when he said he would, and assessed the problem. Had to unhook outside mounted TV. Was very professional and neat. Also fixed minor problem on another TV in house. Ordered part and brought over as soon as it was available. Repaired TV and remounted outside. Was very courteous.

What a great company. When I called on July 3 telling Mike about my problem and asking him how quickly he can he come out, Mike said he would not leave me stranded and would come out on July 4 between 10:30 AM and 11 AM. Mike showed up on time and immediately went to work telling me my Sony TV was a good TV and he would have me back watching my favorite programs quickly. My Tools and parts in his vehicle and brought me back online quickly. After he was paid I asked if he could help me plug-in my new Blu-ray CD player. Not only did he get me totally set up he did so for nothing more than a thank you and a handshake. I understand why he is recommended highly by Angie's list and I would tell everybody if they have any electrical problem give advanced electricity and Mike a call.
Description of Work: Mike replace the bulb at another part and gave my Sony TV a quick check to make sure everything was okay.

I should have known better when they were late for the first appointment, but once we started paying for the service call, it just seemed easier to complete the repair with this company. It took over a month for the TV to get fixed and ~$300 more than initially thought. They didn't seem to stock the parts for our TV so they had to order them, which added to the time of repair. The TV was fixed successfully and still works, but it took longer and was more expensive than it needed to be. It would almost have made sense to spend a couple hundred dollars more and just buy a new TV. Update: So, after I posted the initial review, I received a call from Mike, telling me I should edit my comments. I find this highly irregular and somewhat off-putting. I'm not sure why he didn't just respond to the review himself. But since he asked for it, I will expand on my comments. One fact I got wrong was the total cost, which I have now amended. However, price was not one of my primary concerns, as I gave a "B" for price -- I think the cost was in line with my expectations for the work done. And the quality of the work was fine. I had hoped that the first repair would fix the problem, but once it was clear that additional service was required, it didn't make sense not to get the TV in working order. I gave a "C" for responsiveness because I had to call multiple times to see when the parts would come in so that we could schedule an appointment to have them installed. Mike did call back in a timely fashion, but it would have been better if I hadn't had to call in the first place. Mike also wanted me to add that he called before our first appointment to tell me that he would be 30 minutes late and that it was raining that night. This is true; however, Mike ended up showing up 1.5 hours late (appointment was for 5 pm, he showed up at 6:30). Then he was ~30 min. late for the next appointment to replace the power supply. He was on time for the last appointment, maybe a few minutes early. Punctuality is very important for me, especially when I have to take time off from work to make an appointment. Mike said that I should look at the other reviews to see what other people are saying to help me edit my review. I think that it would be highly unethical for me to base any of my review on anything other than my personal experience. While I'm glad to see that the other reviewers had excellent experiences with Advance Electronic Solution, I did not. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it wasn't "A" quality service IMHO. Update #2: After seeing the company response, I've changed my grade of professionalism to an F. It is one thing to explain your end of the transaction. It is a totally unacceptable thing to lie about it.

Originally back in Nonmember 2012 we received a call from [member name removed] to schedule for his TV repair. he was not flexible in time and to accommodate him we made an appointment for after business ohrs so he didn't have to take time off from work. it was a rainy, stormy night which we called to let him know about our late arrival and I could reschedule but I tried to make it. we usually call a head of the time to notify the homeowner's about our arrival which other companies give a bracket for example from 12:00-3:00. finally we made it and diagnosed the problem. his TV was hit by the lightning and after replacing the board two other problems with other boards were discovered. it is impossible to have all the parts for different brand in stock so with his knowledge parts were ordered. based on the availability of parts and delivery we schedule additional appointments for repair.[member name removed] reported that his TV was successfully fixed and working. we take pride in our work and like to have happy and satisfied customers that is why we made a phone call to him. he made a mistake on the price of the repair which we asked to be fixed since he complained about the repair being costly! we moved his big TV to the other room and rewired for no additional charge in fact! we have a peace of mind since we did everything to accommodate [member name removed] but some people despite every effort are not satisfied!!

I have used Mike several times, for analysis, repair and replacement of components of home entertainment systems to very minor problems that I could not figure out myself. Each time he has given me an estimated time and called to confirm shortly before the appointment. At one point, I was ready to purchase a new television but he assured me that repairing a component was the cheaper and better way to go, not taking the opportunity to make a major sale. I have in each case found him knowledgeable and his price fair. I am glad I found Advanced on Angie's list and to have a reliable and trustworthy resource when I need help with electronic hardware.

I called on Sunday even though they were closed; Mike called me back within a couple of hours to get more details about my problem. He said he could come on Monday mid-morning, Mike showed up within the window of time he promised. He looked at the TV then gave me an estimate of the cost, he said if that did not fix the problem then the TV was not worth the cost of the second fix. I decided to go ahead and give it a try, it worked and our TV is back up and running.

Had a little problem with our internet provider ( had nothing to do with mike's service ) then mike and his tech installed the speakers in wall fishing wire in and it got a little complex ( never know whats behind the wall but they came through with flying colors ) Advance Electronics uses top line products which are superior to whats out there . ( you get what you pay for ) Mike is very attentive to detail which is what I want with my investment . Very professional, always follows up and I will use him again when I add to my system.

The project was more difficult than either Mike or I anticipated due to some construction errors by the builder who did the pre-wiring. It took longer than expected and involved more work than expected. Mike was patient and thorough and made sure everything worked properly and that I understood how to work the system before he left. I would recommend him.
Description of Work: Mike set up surround sound in my pre-wired home. He added speakers and a control box to my lanai and got me a subwoofer, central speaker and new receiver. He was very thorough making sure that everything worked properly. He had to make two trips after discovering that my existing receiver would not work properly with the system and I needed a new receiver. It took many hours to get everything set up and Mike did not lose patience over this difficult project.

Mike came when promised. Since I was in the process of remodeling my home, I told him that repair of the TV, if possible, was not an urgent need. This then gave Mike some time to research possible fixes. Mike told me that he had worked on sets like mine with the same problem and gave me an estimated repair cost of about $600 which I thought, at the time, was a reasonable investment. So, Mike left, researched for a replacement module, and returned a week or so later. Unfortunately, the replacement module did not fix the problem. Mike explained that sometimes, replacement modules are "pull-outs", that is, not new so they are cheaper. He then proceeded to order the next level module assembly from a source that he researched online. With TV sets this old, it is hard to get new parts. So, Mike took a chance on an assembly that was pulled from another TV. This was his third trip to my house, no additional charge. But, this assembly did not fix the problem either. The proposed fix was to locate a "new" module assembly. All of this showed me that Mike was willing to go the extra mile to help me without perhaps any additional compensation. While Mike was researching this, we decided that the cost of the service call plus the assembly, about $700, was too close to the purchase price of a new, similar, TV. I now blame myself for not doing my homework before asking Mike to repair this set. A similar size TV could be purchased for $1000 or less. So, I told Mike not to order any more parts. Mike was more than gracias about this and told me to "do what made sense to me". He knows that not all jobs will make him money. So, Mike canceled the order for any newer modules and came by to put my set back together. (He had left the set open because he took a module to make sure he ordered the right part.) So, 4 trips to my house for $100! I know Mike can't make any money doing this. Summarizing, I was very pleased to have Mike come to my home to work on my set which I could not have taken anywhere. And then, he did what he could to meet my expectations of having the set "reasonably" repaired. With set prices continuing to fall and repair costs high, I really don't know how Mike can stay in business. I think he has other expertise, like with audio equipment, that may help him. It was worth the $100 service call to find out that my set was not cheaply repairable.
Description of Work: I had a SONY 60" TV that was about 8 years old. It was a very expensive TV at the time I bought it and I purchased a 5 year warranty witch I needed and used. Now, the TV still works, but it takes about 20 minutes for the picture to "stabilize". That it, it "rolls" until then. I hate to just throw things away, especially electronics, when they don't work. So, I thought it was worth this investment to have someone look at it for possible repair. Having a background in electronics, I really didn't expect much. There aren't any easy and cheap replaceable parts in electronics anymore. Yet, it seem worth the price of a service call to find out what, if anything could be done.

Mike came the same day I called. Attempted to repair by soldering circuit board, to no avail. Took board with him and ordered a new one, and was confronted with difficulty. When finally received, Mike came next day to install. Also looked an other problematic TV, but I opted not to repair. Mike was very knowledgeable, kept me informed of status, and even hooked up a new TV for me, which he didn't have to do. I highly recommend him.

Overall, I would say it went very well because my main TV is working again! Pls note, that while waiting for parts, he did offer to give me a 'loaner' (a 47" different brand) and then after 1st part failed he offered to sell me his other 47" TV ... for the same price I would be paying to have my Vizio fixed. Mine had PIP but the replacement he offered did not and it would have no better warranty than the part(s) he was replacing on my Vizio. I said no deal. I was happy with his professionalism, promptness and knowledge, but not with what I had to pay to get my TV back to where it was. Mike did not overcharge - in fact, his pricing was excellent .... the cost of parts blew me away! I graded my 'overall experience' and the "price" category as 'B' not as a reflexion on Mike (Advanced Solutions) I believe, with the sales going on and the way HDTV prices have come down, I could have spent about the same (maybe $100 more) and gotten a brand new much bigger 1080p HDTV (51, 55 or perhaps 60 inch) with more whistles and bells (i.e. WiFi Internet access). Unfortunately, TV's are not made the same any more. I have always been used to a TV lasting for 10 yrs or more (we got our 1st Admiral TV in '52 and it was still working fine in '67 when we upgraded to a Zenith console that lasted another 18 years.)... now TV's are much like any other hi tech device - as soon as you plug them in, they're obsolete and/or they are not built to last so that you are always buying new vice being satisfied with what you have. Mike's pricing was very fair .... I don't like the 'industry pricing' on the parts they make - I could have certainly gotten the parts cheaper but at a far more questionable quality (and no warranty). He made sure I got the best parts avail to give my TV a better chance of survivng. I remain confident that Mike got me the absolute best quality available and at the best price. I really didn't want bigger than 47, but spending almost $600 was not a smart move in hindsight when I am most likely only going to get another couple of years of use from this TV before another major repair puts me at a crossroads of fix or replace. I would definitely call Advance Solutions in the future if I need that type service Mike was certainly more honest, knowledgeable and professional than other TV repairmen I've dealt with over the years ,but this was my first experience with flat screen TV repair. He will stand behind his work and that is key! Technology sure has changed and I'm glad there are still "Mike's" around to help us!!!
Description of Work: (I'm writing this review after the fact ....Please read the entire review. Work started in Oct and repairs were finished in Nov 2012 ... I apologize for not posting sooner.) Lost picture and sound to a 47" Vizio HDTV that was out of warranty. Called Mike after 'googling' Vizio repair ... didn't think to look at Angie's List - my bad!! He said he would have to see the TV before he could tell me how much it would cost to fix - that was $100 for the svc call but that would apply to any fix he made. I OK'd, he came looked and said I needed power supply module (ckt bd) replaced - I OK'd ($385) - he then had to order the part from 'abroad'. Kept me informed that part was delayed because it was common to many brands and I was just 1 of many looking for that part. (Apparently it failed on numerous TV's just after warranty period expired.) Part finally came in approx 2 weeks later and he installed next day .... TV worked .... for about 2-3 minutes .... then he said there was another board that caused the power supply board to fail and he couldn't tell that until the power supply was fixed. He of course had to order that part too. Anyhow, another $200 later and the TV finally got fixed ... only now, I get an audible hum for 10-20 seconds when I first turn it on and then all is well. I am told that is because the new boards installed need to 'burn-in' to catch up to the age of the other parts and then after time hum sound will go away. (I'm still waiting for that to happen and it has been 3 months of daily use of that TV.)

The quality of the service was excellent. Mike was very responsive and had great knowledge and expertise to give us exactly what we wanted. The system works great and all of the work done is clean and sharp. I would use this company again and recommend them.

jWhen I described what it was doing he thought it was a wiring or a programming problem that would not require much time. We agreed on a time the next day. I have 2 broken projectors. I submitted a request for information via Angie's List and Mike Eidi responded via email affirmatively, providing his phone number for followup discussion and setting an appointment. When I called him he told me that his diagnostic fee was $100 per projector, to be applied to the repair bill if I chose to make the repairs. This was very reasonable in my opinion. However, he added that I could purchase used projectors from highly rated Ebay sellers for not much more than his diagnostic fee. He was right. I found a newer projector on Ebay and it works great! Mike's honest recommendation to replace instead of repair was both surprising and refreshing.

This is so awesome I had to write about it. My little bedroom Sanyo hasn't been working for months making everything look green. I fiddled with it at least three times for over an hour and couldn't get the right picture back. So I looked on Angie's List for a TV repair service with high ratings. Advance Electronics Solutions jumped out at me with all the fantastic reviews. So I called and Mike answered and asked if he could call me back in a couple of minutes as he was on the phone with a customer. He called back in a couple of minutes and I asked if I could bring my set in for repair. He asked me to describe the set and the problem and then he said the set isn't broken but the hook-up is either wrong or not well connected. He told me what to do and asked that I call back to let him know the outcome. I did was he instructed and the TV is working fine. I called him back to let him know and to thank him. Mike was prompt, courteous, friendly and he saved me time and money. You simply can't get better than that! He has my business forever and I will tell all my friends about him. I am very pleased with Mike as he was very punctual and professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone having issues with their Audio/Visual equipment or need new equipment installed. Mike is very knowledgable about electronics and has a lot of experience to share with his customers. Mike goes the extra mile to make sure his customers are satisfied and happy with his work.
Description of Work: I lost the picture on my RCA TV. Call Mike and he came out on the date and time he had available. He troubleshot the TV, replaced some internal parts but had to order more parts as this TV was eight years old. Mike returned with the parts needed but to no avail. Mike looked around for a circuit board but one was not readily available. I made the decision to purchase a new TV at that time. A friend and I installed the new TV as best as we could. We got the new TV working but I was having sound problems and universal remote control problems. I called Mike again and asked him to come out and make sure we had the equipment installed correctly. Mike had to re-install all the wiring to the new TV as my friend and I did not do it correctly. At the same time I asked Mike to install my new Blu-Ray DVD in my den. He did so and it is working fine.

Description of Work: Mike did a complete custom install of a multi-zone AV system, and the work was outstanding. The system included in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, a hidden subwoofer, outdoor speakers, AV distribution to 4 zones, Blu-ray player, AV receiver, media player, RF universal remote, and cat-6 distribution throughout the house. Mike and his team did outstanding work, was very neat, and did complete programming of everything as well as network configuration. Highly recommended!
