In the process of replacing my cracked iphone 6 screen the touch ID module became non functional. It turns out that if you ever try to update the IOS with a broken touch ID the phone may force you to the connect with itunes. Itunes instructs you to restore the phone but it wont complete the restore (error 53) and the phone is unusable. I now have to do an out of warranty screen replacement and touch ID repair through Apple. Apple indicates this can happen if the replacement screen is not the correct part. The internet also has a lot of articles about how touch ID can be damaged during screen replacement. The store took no responsibility for the issue even though the receipt clearly documents that the touch ID was working prior to the repair and the salesman was the one who informed me that the touch ID was not working. The store now informs me that they normally tell customers never to update the IOS when this happens. In addition to the stores failure to respond the web based customer service has also been unhelpful in addressing my concern (they never responded back to me). I would recommend replacing your broken iphone screen through Apple even if it may take a week to get an appointment.

I have a first gen iPad that my 3 year old uses for puzzles, games and it also has movies. A few days ago he came home from an outing with the grandparents and the iPad was malfunctioning. The volume, power and orientation buttons were not working. I went online to find a repair location and found uBreakiFix in South Miami. I called them up, explained the situation and they said they were fairly confident they knew what it was, but that I should bring it in regardless for an inspection. I took it in and they confirmed that the buttons were functioning intermittently and that ordering the part and replacing it should take care of the problem. They ordered the part and called me. I took the iPad back and left it for them to work on. About an hour after I left it one of their technicians called me to tell me that it seemed like the buttons were working fine before they had even performed any work on it. The fact that they would be honest enough to tell me this was refreshing. They couldn't know if I would just say "oh well then I'll just go pick it up" and be charged nothing. Honesty is a quality that is very difficult to find in a company that makes money by providing you a service like this. Because the problem had existed and appeared to be intermittent I asked them to go ahead with the repair so that I would not have to bring it back if/when it got worse/more frequent. A couple of hours later they called and told me the device was ready. I came to pick it up and tested it onsite. Everything worked perfectly and I just avoided having to buy a new iPad. In the interest of full disclosure I will say this: In the shop they have a sign that offers to give a small discount on the repair if you provide an HONEST online review of their services. If you look at my reviews you know I would have done that anyway (discount or not), but I was very glad they honored the offer. Also, I have concluded my transaction with them and only now after playing with the iPad for a few hours and finding everything working perfectly am I writing the review. They are not holding the discount hostage for the review. All in all they are a class act. Their shop in South Miami is a tiny place, but it goes to show that you can't always judge quality of service by storefront appearance (Are you listening Geek Squad at Best Buy)? If you're in the area...I highly recommend these guys. They will give it to you straight.

They found that it was a simple fix, a setting change, and I went back to pick it up for no charge. Honesty is the most important thing in repair services.
