It has been an aggravating, frustrating, costly experience by an unprofessional, in my opinion, lying individual by the name of Jeff Hill There was such a mess left by the 1st contractor, Hill came out to replace the stone walkway himself as the stones had been moved; no covering had been placed over them and they were covered with stucco. Hill fixed that by turning the stones over so it was not visible not realizing there was a top and bottom. I had to replace the walk myself as he did such a lousy job. He was also going to paint the banding around the window himself, which, of course, he never did. There were numerous items he was going to take care of at no cost, which he never did. Since they are enumerated in the contracts, I won't elaborate. The paint job was a mess also; there was paint on the bushes, hose and driveway. I have many, many photos of this wonderful job.
Description of Work: BMB was contracted in Aug 2011 to repair front face of house to include both sides of double windows on 1st floor to ground level where the succo had bubbled (finish to be similar to existing stucco) at a cost of $1,200. On Sept 1, 2011, a change order for addtional work to repair stucco bubbles on the left wall of the entryway, 3 areas on the south wall of the building and the final area on the 2nd floor of the octagon portion of the house at a cost of $2,300. The individual who worked on the 1st phase was fired for being drunk. He did not fix the gouge in the banding and left this for the painter, who filled it with caulking. Hill (owner of BMB) had this rectified, but the painter used the base house color instead of the banding color. The contractor of phase 2 had to patch an additional bubble where a patch had already been made. Very attractive. The leak in the entryway for which Hill had a contractor caulk for a cost of $200 did not fix the leak. Hill was advised and he stated he himself would get on the roof to check and thought perhaps the leak may have been coming from storm shutter housing box. (Hill never returned to finish this.) We complained to Hill about the finish not matching the prior stucco and the patches were obvious. We wrote Hill a certified letter dated Mar 12, 2012, after a phone conversation with him about our dissatisfaction with the stucco repair. Shortly thereafter Mr. Mauro appeared at our home saying Hill had advised him to avoid us as we were complaining about the work. Upon talking with him, he indicated he had advised Hill the only correct way to satisfactorily do the stucco repair would be to cover the entire wall with a substance tinted the house color thereby eliminating painting; Hill did not want any input from Mauro. Mauro provided an estimate of $3,800 (materials/labor) to do the job correctly. During our conversation, we learned Mauro was paid $900 for this work and we were charged $1,800 which included labor to install scaffolding. Mauro was upset re the scaffolding as it was his property and installed by him. Mauro checked the entryway leak and found the caulking used was all mushy and pealed off easily. The caulking around affected areas had not been done either. We paid Mauro an additional $900 to seal the leak and do the caulking. Needless to say Hill never responded to our letter. Now we have additiional bubbles in areas purportedly repaired and cracks have appeared.

Response from Blue Mountain Beach Repair LLC
I am enclosing the original estimate #114 and the accompanying Invoice #404 as well as the letter I received from the (Members). I will address this by line on the estimate; 1) Install scaffolding and repair very specific areas as pointed out by owner. I offered to resurface the whole face of the house that we affected by the repairs but the owner did not want to spend the money required to do this. He was informed that repair lines would be evident but he said that would be alright. 2) Caulk windows and shutters in affected areas. The triple windows and the south facing window were caulked as requested. I informed the owner that one south facing window had a piece of lumber behind the shutter and needed to be repaired by the Shutter Company. 3) Caulk roof at entry. The caulking was performed by a Certified Florida Roofing Contractor and he even inspected the rest of the roof at no charge. He informed the owner that the roof was improperly installed and needed to be replaced and done properly. The owner did not want to expend the money. The caulking used is non-hardening material that allows for expansion and contraction of different materials. It is designed to stay “soft and mushy” as the owner stated. 4) Prep, prime and paint affected areas with owner supplied paint. Not only did I paint the affected areas, but I sent the painter back to paint the entire front of the house and I purchased 2 gallons of $72.00 per gallon self-priming, Sherwin-Williams elastomeric pain out of my pocket since the owners were not happy with the color difference with their 4 year old paint job (even using the paint they supplied first). The owners then claimed they paid the painter $200.00 extra to do this and even though he denied it, I deducted $200.00 from their final invoice to cover this. I also disposed of several cans of paint the owners had that had gone bad and had to be treated as hazardous waste. Also, when I first bid the job another contractor had already cut away several square feet of bad stucco and someone had put plastic over a 3 X 12 foot section and had put the paving stones from the walk on the bottom of the plastic to keep it in place (the complaint about throwing their pavers around). I personally put these back in place and raked around them while the owners looked on and said they were fine. And as far as the fired stucco installed was concerned, the owners asked why I changed installers and I told them he came on another job and had been drinking so I had to change installers. I have been in business for many years and have had no complaints. I do not advertise and work from word of mouth so I can furnish you with dozens of happy customers reports and I will be very disappointed for any libelous statements published concerning my company.
