I met with the owner, Dennis, in February to discuss complete maintenance of my yard. Dennis was a very nice and likeable person. The services discussed were once weekly lawn maintenance to include cutting, edging, and weed control. I stressed to him my main goal was to keep the weeds down in the yard and beds specifically controlling the dollarweed. We agreed upon $175 per month which I thought at the time was high but that was to include fertilizing and palm trimming also. The main thing Dennis said that sold me was "We do what needs to be done". I remember that quote specifically because that was what sold me on him.In the beginning (March 2011), I saw them treating the dollarweed with spray and even saw someone actively pulling weeds in the bed. I was usually home at the time they came to service the yard and would see them. As the weeks went on I never saw anyone pulling weeds again nor did I see them treating the dollarweed. Some plants were never even touched. When dollarweed is treated it will turn yellow and die off. Instead, they were becoming more noticable and very healthy and green. There were also plenty of weeds starting to pop up in the beds. On two occasions, I left the backyard gate locked and they simply didn't service the backyard. While my fault, I was somewhat bothered that they didn't call or come back a bit later to check the gate knowing I come home at lunch everyday. My previous landscaper would find a way to open the gate or call me. It isn't that difficult.I sent a note with my next payment that I wanted to discuss the service I was receiving but my attitude change a bit after the following exchange with them. While they were servicing the yard in June I asked them to trim the palm trees since they had not been trimmed yet and they were overflowing the berries. I had a party planned for the weekend and they looked terrible. The response I got was that they weren't planning to trim palms until July and provided me with a number of a person who would do it for $25 per tree. My memory went back to Dennis telling me that they would do what needed to be done (Including palm trimming). This was not what I signed up for! To be fair, they did come and trim them the next week but too little too late for me. After this I decided I wanted to find someone else to maintain my yard and do what they say they will do without me having to hound them. With my payment for July, I submitted a note telling them the service was not what I had expected and the last Thursday in July would be the last. THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP for the last service. That's stealing in my book. It's not enough money to go after them legally but I sure wanted to let it be known how they took my payment and DID NOT perform the service for it.
