Description of Work: Extreme weather caused circuit board to fail. At the time, the home was empty, and next door neighbors called and said door kept going up and down. DGD was called, kept the appointment in a timely manner. He diagnosed the problem right away. | |We were pleased that the problem was taken care of.

Description of Work: Griffin Brothers came to my home, repaired the garage ceiling. Did a great job. Left the garage neat and clean when they left.

Description of Work: Had appt to have a garage door opener installed. Half hour after appt time, they called to say they would be late, no problem. Then called 2 hrs later (after new appt time and at the end of the day) to say they didn't have part on the truck and needed to reschedule. Took a day off work to sit around the house ALL day waiting. The lady on the phone was not even apologetic, Nothing was rescheduled, VERY disappointed with the entire situation. Haven't even been back on Angie's List until now.

Description of Work: Our garage door opener didn't work and was still in warranty from when they had worked on previously. The repairman came out and said the it needed a part, which he did not carry on his truck. He made arrangements to come again. The next repair person was a manager who said that they had found a number of defective parts in a previous shipment and put in a new one, which fixed the problem. Can't help but wonder it the 1st repair person would have charged me for replacing the defective part if he'd had it available.

Description of Work: The sensor on the garage door had failed. The technician was able to replace the sensor and get the door operational. I would use them again as the technician, per my wife as I was at work, was courteous, professional and explained the work he had performed and what we could expect.

Description of Work: They removed the previously damaged door that had been removed and deposited inside the garage. Service contractor installed new tracks and door, requesting payment for better quality rollers. Overall the installation required approximately 8 hours labor and a trip home for an extension cord for a corded drill and a trip home for the contractor to retrieve upgraded rollers. The installation was in the end very professionally completed.

Description of Work: Wife was in hospital dying when garage spring broke. I needed service fast and ended up with a rebuild and new opener. I did not have time to fool around with them and feel that the whole job should have been done much cheaper and faster and that not everything needed to be replaced.

Description of Work: Discount Doors was called - service man showed as scheduled. Problem had self-corrected itself when he arrived. Very congenial visit. He did not charge for the call, as I was a member of "Angie's List" !!!!

Description of Work: We've been manually opening/closing our garage door for about a month, as somehow the unit stopped working - although the motor for the garage door opener kept running and making a sound as if it were going to pull the garage door up and down. A couple days ago, something made a popping sound, and the garage door would no longer open - manually or otherwise. The door was crooked, with one side touching the ground and the other side suspended about 2 inches in the air. Luckily, we were leaving, and so the car was NOT trapped in! We have family home for the break, so my kids had a chance to call a couple handymen and garage-door companies; over the past 2-3 days, we had 4 people come in for a quote, Grant and Discount Garage Doors was the most recent - we had planned on calling another 2-3 before making a decision on who to go with. The previous fellows came in and gave us general quotes, stating that we may have to disassemble the top panel of our 8' door, another person stated he wouldn't know how much time/money this would take until he removed the door, etc. Then in comes Grant from DGD. He was a consummate professional and was a true expert, telling us one side of the garage door was off the spool, and he also gave us the breakdown of reasons that could have caused this. He walked us through the steps he was going to take to fix it, stating that "If this happens, then I'll do this. If that happens, then I'll do that - and I'm going to have to charge you this much more". At the end of the day, he fixed the spool problem, as well as finding out one of the parts near the motor was stripped. We ended up dealing with minimal damage to the wallet ($180 when all the others estimated $300 - $500 cost), and we're back to daily life

Description of Work: My garage wouldn't open and the company I used 2 years before was closed. I got a neighbor and the door was opened manually to get my car out. I found DGD on angie's list. I called and scheduled service. I printed out the waive charge coupon. The young man was very pleasant and he adjusted the springs and opener. I handed him the coupon and he gave it back to me and I thought it was to be used again for any future service calls -if needed. He used the control and opened and closed the door and while the door was closing it was squeeking. I asked the service man, he just shrugged it off. I checked my bill later and saw I was charged $35.00 for service call. I called their office and manager gone for the day. She called me the next morning and stated that if parts were used -the service charge would have been waived. She was to call angie' list for this correction!! I called the genie company about the squeeking and was told to use silicone spray and that it shouldn't be squeeking.
