Craftsmans Service Co. recently completed a master bathroom remodeling project for me and I am thrilled with the results. They made a worn, outdated bathroom look modern and beautiful. I made an appointment with Bill Shephard, the owner, for an estimate and upon meeting him, I really felt like I could trust him to do a good job and to oversee people coming in and out of my home for 4 weeks. Bill provided a prompt estimate for the complete bathroom remodel via email and began the project 2 weeks later. Bill's 2 sons did the majority of the actual remodel and were curtious and knowledgable. George, the tile expert, was maticulous and made sure that the tile was perfect. If I had a concern or question, Bill always responded quickly and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the results. Though I added several additional services and items to the work, Bill only charged me what he quoted in his original estimate. I truly enjoyed working with Bill and his crew and will absolutely call them in the future for my remodeling needs. I highly recommend that you do the same!n
Description of Work: Craftsman Service Co, under the leadership of Bill Shephard, remodeled my master bathroom in 4.5 weeks. I was shocked to see a negative report listed under this company because in the several months that I have used them, I have only postive things to say about Bill Shepard and his company. They are hard workers, always clean up after themselves, come in on emergency/last minute calls (even weekends), have extremely open communication, are knowledgeable about products, and are trustworthy people. I was so happy with Bill that when he was done with my bathroom I asked him to be my handyman because I trusted him so much and was so pleased with his work. I love that he is a professional contractor, but is so extremely down to earth and is just a sweet man making a living. I enjoyed having him and his sons in our home to do our work. We are so happy with the way our bathroom has turned out...I would be happy to send before and after pictures to anyone! Get craftsman into your house...you won't be dissapointed!!
Description of Work: We had our master bathroom entirely remodled when we moved into our new house. In addition, while the work was being done, we found numerous other issues that came up in our new home that we used Bill Shepard and his company to help fix. They have done everything in our home from gutting our bathroom and updating it to sealing my kitchen counters.

After a few unsuccessful attempts, I finally found a company willing to tackle my "to do" list which included projects both big and small. Craftsmen Service Co. was responsive, detailed and thorough with the quality of work exceptional. The large project was the installation of a full bath in the basement. The finished product is amazing down to the last detail. The smaller projects were treated equally as important by Bill and team to ensure the outcome met or exceeded my expectations. Sure there were bumps along the way, but Bill always stayed on top of the projects and worked through any issues that arose. He did not hesitate to come over on a Sunday night to inspect and make sure the project was on track for the work crew Monday morning. I found the Crafstmen Service Co. team to be professional, courteous and responsive. Overall, I would highly recommend this company.

The owner was very professional & accommodating in scheduling the appointment.
Description of Work: I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal for complete design plans. Although the owner did come to my house, measure & provide me plans they were hand drawn & not to scale; it looked like something that you would receive as part of a "free estimate" not complete design plans.

He was very professional and gave us all of the information we needed...we really would have like to use him but he coudn't meet our time restraints and was very honest about that...
Description of Work: Bill came in an gave us an estimate...his references were very good...but he couldn't get to us as quickly as we needed so we went with another remodeler...I think, from the info I gathered, Bill is an excellent carpenter and would have done a wonderful job for us!

If you are a meticulous, detail-oriented person looking for work that is done right the first time, keep looking. Craftsman Service Company is not the company for you. During demolition they threw away *A perfectly good showerhead. *The 2?-diameter, chrome finial and thumbscrews that held our light/ fan in place. *A brightly-colored door stop that had sentimental value (I painted in college). The showerhead was gone. No retrieving. It wasn?t part of new plan, but I would have passed it Habitat for Humanity since it was newer. Bill replaced the finial. The thumbscrews we had to find substitutes for. I noticed the doorstop was gone on demolition day before they left for the day and Bill offered to go through every bag at the landfill to find it. I declined. I note these things to show that they are lax with details. I was also very unhappy during demolition of the master bath to find 2?-square pieces of tile inside my register vents. We had the vents cleaned earlier in the year and now they were full of demolition debris. No care was taken to cover or plug the vents. We had to ask Craftsman Services to do a number of projects a second (or third) time. And some of the projects we corrected ourselves. *Reframe the closet door in the master bathroom. Reset the shower drain in the master bathroom. *Re-hang the shower door so it did not rub against the bottom door frame. (After many unsuccessful tries by Bill?s team, we had to do this ourselves.) *Re-do the drywall patching in the master bathroom. We were told it would ?look like new? and it did not. *Re-level the toilet in the master bathroom. (Bill scored the brand-new marble tile with his knife when he made the toilet level.) *Re-install the medicine cabinets in the master bathroom to make them level. *Stop the master sink drains from leaking. (Again, we had to finally do these ourselves.) *Align the sink faucet handles so that when turned off they formed a straight line instead of pointing backward. (Another project we corrected.) *Replace the drywall where they cut unneeded holes in the hall bathroom. *Remove the old toilet flange from behind the brand new drywall in the hall bathroom. Here is a list of things that didn?t turn out as expected, but could not be fixed/ would be cost-prohibitive to fix or we are still trying to fix. *The lowest spot in the master shower pan is not where the drain sits, but slightly in front of the drain. *The tile in the hall bathroom shower is too close to the shower pipe. The escutcheon (the plate that sits against the shower wall and surrounds the shower pipe) does not fit flat against the wall. *Re-install the glass mosaic in the hall bathroom. This tile is clear and the trowel marks can be seen through the glass. Additionally, there are large gaps where the thinset did not cover the glass tile completely. Bill says this is the best his company can do. Other companies have told me it can be done much better. However, we are having trouble getting another company to re-do this work because there is concern about the initial prep work. More on that below. *The hall bathroom door had to be trimmed so that it would close over the new tile. It was cut crooked. *Paint inside the toilet tank. *Scratches in the bathtub in the hall bath. Things that we had to repair or complete ourselves: *Remove silicone and paint splatter from the master bath marble floor. *Remove paint splatter from the hall bath marble floor, vanity, and toilet. *Install kick plate and end laminate on both vanities. *Remove paint splatter from vanity lights. *Install towel racks and toilet paper holders. I took pictures of the remodels everyday. One of the contractors that gave me an estimate to re-do the glass mosaic in the hall bathroom asked to see some of those pictures. He was very concerned that no fiber tape was used in the joints between our recessed shower shelf boxes. No fiber tape was used where one piece of cement board meets another piece either. This is a very large concern for leaks in the future. We have a PDF file from The Tile Shop (where we purchased all tile, recessed shelves, and grout) that specifically says to cover all joints with fiber tape. Craftsman Service did not follow this step. This is also why no one else will touch this project. No one wants to open Pandora?s box. Several companies have suggested the Craftsman Services fix this. My husband sent an email to Bill on July 30, 2012 regarding this and had no response. At our estimate meeting we asked Bill to include tile backsplashes for the sinks in his quote. We assumed it was included in his ?Install bath vanity? line item. It was our mistake for not pointing this out before the project began. At the end of the project Bill said he would not do it as it wasn?t part of the quote. We worked with a separate company after Bill had finished and had the backsplashes installed. The other company was able to install the clear, glass mosaic backsplash in the hall bathroom much nicer than Craftsman Service did the same tile in the shower. Just last week (after numerous discussions with other tile companies) we had the plumber back to raise the shower output pipe so that the escutcheon will sit flat against the wall. This was the least expensive fix that did not involve tearing out the tile. Raising the shower involved opening the drywall in the closet again, adding length to the pipe, and making a new hole in the drywall on the shower side. The drywall will have to be patched and painted again. If some care had been taken during the installation of the tile, this wouldn?t be an issue. If the tiles had run just 2.5? shorter, we would not have incurred extra expenses. Sure, we could have called Bill and made (another) fuss, but we are tired of playing that game. Lastly, I?d like to address how I was treated personally. I felt I had a good rapport with Bill, his team, and the sub-contractors he brought in. More than half-way through I would have told you that Bill was like an uncle ? a great guy to work with. That he would continue to work to make it right. And then I asked him to re-do the glass mosaic tile in the hall bathroom. I asked in a phone conversation if I could get a second opinion about whether the glass mosaic could be done better. And if that company said yes, would he pay for the other company to re-do it since he admitted that his company could not do it better. I was not prepared for what came next. Bill unloaded on me. I was appalled at the names that Bill called me. I was speechless as he berated me for being ?difficult?. I was asking for my project, that I was paying good money for, to be made right and he was chewing me out. He even said to the effect that he had thought about not taking on the hall bathroom project after the master had been completed. That was news to me! I had never heard that tone or such negativity from him before. I never once raised my voice to him. I did not call him names. My eyes were opened to who he really is. I thought he was my advocate in the process, but now I could see that he was two-faced ? telling me that it wasn?t a big deal to make things right when it he felt otherwise. From that point on my husband became Bill?s main contact. I was no longer comfortable having Bill in my house if another adult was not present. It became clear in subsequent discussions that Bill has a large ego and doesn?t take kindly to someone questioning the quality of his work. We picked Craftsman Service Company based on their good Angie?s List reviews. I even went and read the reviews again (including new ones) after that phone conversation. I cannot reconcile it. Bill told us that we received the same quality work as everyone else. If that is so, there are many Angie?s List customers happy with mediocre work. Or, people are trying not to hurt his feelings. Or, he was wrong, and we did not receive the same quality work. Whichever it is, we would never hire Bill or his company again nor would we ever recommend him to anyone. The bottom line is if you want something done just ?good enough?, then Craftsman Service Company would fit the bill. If you want a company to treat your home as their own, then look elsewhere.
Description of Work: My husband and I hired Bill to remodel our master bathroom and the hall bathroom that our children use. We contracted him for a complete tear-out and replace of the two spaces, including making the master shower enclosure larger and taking out a small wall in the master bathroom. The amount listed above for how much we spent includes labor and all materials. We paid Bill $12,284 in labor. This was our first major remodel and the first time using a contractor. Additional work had to be completed by other companies after Craftsman Service Company finished. We waited until that work was done before submitting this review.

Response from Craftsmen Service Co / 1 Stop
This report is nonsense. I send the same crew (including myself) to do the same type of work for every client. Only one in five Angies list members files a report on the work they had done. We have received the Super Service Award three years in a row. We have had hundreds of satisfied clients from Angies List. This was the most difficult client I have had in twelve years of business. I tried everything I could to complete the work to her satisfaction. I even hired colleagues to do some of the work she was dissatisfied with. I have several vendors I use routinely. After her relentless complaining (and swearing) to Marble & Granite Works, they wanted to just refund her money and she could go elsewhere for her vanity tops. Home Depot called me in frustration. She wouldn't accept that the vanity she wanted could only be ordered on line and was not available at the store. She was very rude to them. The Tile shop was very frustrated with her antics. Two of the sub-contractors I hired, to try and appease her, refused to return after one experience with her. We did throw away her shower head and door stop. We did get pieces of tile in her register. On several occasions when we arrived in the morning, work we had done the previous day had been altered. When I asked her about it she said "my husband didn't like it so he changed it". I respectfully asked her not to do that. I can't claim we get everything perfect the first time. I can claim we have high quality standards and will work diligently to meet our clients' expectations. By her own admission, she was satisfied with me (he was like an uncle) for over half of the job.Interesting enough, her complaint list goes back to the first day. We completely renovated her master bath, finished the job, had all of the inspections, was paid in full. She then hired us to remodel a second bathroom. Three days after we completed the tile work in the second shower, she said she was unhappy with the accent tile we installed. Her complaint was, you could see the adhesive and backer board through the tile. I explained to her the tile she choose was transparent. I sent her to the Tile Shop to see the sample board they had on display. The sample looked exactly like what we had installed. I offered to remove the tile (for a nominal fee) if she would choose a different tile. If we installed the same tile, it would look just like the first time we did it. She then asked me if I would pay someone with more skill than we had, to reinstall the tile. I found her request to be insulting. I did tell her she was difficult to work with. I offered (to her) to pay someone to finish the entire project. She and her husband declined that offer and wanted me to finish the job. I was there several times with "no other adult" present. They claim they found another contractor to replace the tile she was dissatisfied with. They said his price was $300.00 to do the work. I offered (as a good faith gesture) to pay $150.00. They accepted my offer. Lastly, I noticed recently she had a complaint in the monthly Angies List magazine (Penalty Box) with another contractor. If you are reading this and you are concerned about quality or my integrity, here is my offer. I will complete your entire job before you ever pay a dime. I have done it for years-got paid every time. I do have a big ego, a lot of talent, skill and a great crew. (As Bill's wife, I couldn't help but also comment on this report. I know how hard he tried to please this customer. Her almost nightly calls, he always answered and responded to her in a professional manner. He spent a lot of money out of his own pocket to try and please her. I doubt he made any profit on this job, but his main concern was to keep her happy. He is a hard working (7 days a week, normally at least 12 hours a day), honest man and only tries to provide a living for his family. He takes great pride in his work and genuinely cares about each customer's satisfaction. You won't be sorry you hired him.)

Could NOT be happier! George is a perfectionist when it comes to his work, considers it an art form. He and his son performed a beautiful, professional job, with the added hardship that they worked during the week/week and a half of intense, nineties heat. He gives the impression he would not be happy unless it is done perfect.Additionally, he was soooo considerate to the fact that, every day, we had to let out 4 dogs out to the back yard, so he barricaded his work effectively every day, to protect his work and the dogs' paws.Bill Shepherd is wonderful to deal with!We would turn to them in a heartbeat if we need additional upgrading done! The $ quoted is only labor.
Description of Work: Work involved tiling on top of an old cement very large deck. Stone tile chosen was irregular, requiring A LOT of grout in-between.

I was in a complete panic when a pane in my family room window broke right around 5pm on a Friday night. I frantically called numerous people on Angie's list and no one even answered the phone. When I called Craftsman Service, Bill actually answered. Although, he doesn't specialize in the work I needed to have done he went out of his way to find out what I needed. He then called someone he new and trusted that could do the work, and then called me back to pass along the name, number, and information. (Precision shower and glass!). He in no way had to do anything to help, let alone go so far out of his way to help me out. His referral was wonderful, and I will not hesitate to call Bill again for any work around my house that he can do!

The quality of their work is perfect, I couldnt be happier with the way the bathroom turned out. The remodel is perfect you can tell it was professionally done. The way they worked with me, I felt like I was treated like family, they are very responsive and easy to communicate with. Bill Shepherd (owner) performed the estimate and was there throughout the whole process. He gave great advice as to using the cultured marble (wouldnt have thought of that on my own, and I love it...) because I didnt want tile in the bathroom, and, he was very thoughtful about how to perform the remodel and stay within my budget. They were also very flexible when I unexpectedly chose a very heavy tub, and failed to tell them, he called up some movers and handled it without a hitch. Also having to replace the whole floor and not just the subfloor was an unexpected and big change in their process but again, they took care of it and still finished on schedule it didnt set them back. Each day they cleaned up all of the mess, were careful not to damage the floors on their way in and out of the house, and were friendly, polite and a pleasure to work with. I will be calling them again for any other work that we need on the house, and highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Craftsman Service Co. remodeled our 5 by 9' bathroom, focus on the tub/shower surround which had leaked for years. They tore out existing tub, tiled sub surround, drywall, and the flooring all the way to the floor joists, and all of the subfloor in rest of bathroom. They had to remove toilet (in order to work on the floor) and removed existing vinyl flooring. Also, they installed a pedestal sink in my other bathroom. Then they installed a new subfloor throughout, full new floor in tub area, new greenboard in tub surround, cultured marble tub surround, new plumbing, installed new shower/faucet, new cast iron bathtub, reinstalled toilet, laid the new vinyl floor, and installed baseboard.

From the beginning of our search for a contractor to do our renovation Bill Shepherd of Craftsman Services was prompt and responsive to our needs. His cost estimate was very fair and the final price was very close to it. They started work on the agreed date & time and always cleaned up after themselves. The total project was completed in one month after they started and we are very pleased. Craftsmans two main workers are Bill Shepherd's sons and they are very hard workers and good craftsmen. George their tile man is very good. I would recommend this company to anyone. They are very easy to work with and have the owners objectives at heart. Thanks Angie!
Description of Work: They removed an existing Jacuzzi bath tub and an existing shower stall and installed a new 6' x 3'-6" walk-in shower. They also installed a tile back splash in our kitchen. The shower walls were covered in porcalain tile and the kitchen tile was tumbled ceramic tile.

I can not say enough positive things about Craftsmen Service Company. They go ABOVE AND BEYOND in everything they do. I was impressed from the very beginning through the very last payment with the level of communication and organization and attention to detail. They did whatever it took to hit the deadline we agreed to, including weekends (Sundays!) and lots of early morning & late nights. I felt like I had a true partner with my home renovation, which is priceless. The work was beautiful - flawless & impressive. I highly, highly recommend this company for any bathroom or kitchen renovations. You would not be let down.
Description of Work: Bill & his team helped renovate several areas of our new house : a subway tile kitchen backsplash, 3 bathroom renovations, and some smaller jobs such as installing a new kitchen sink. Bill also tiled our outdoor screened in porch and helped to install our new kitchen appliances.

My total experience was excellent and I would definitely hire Bill again. Specifically: - Scoping the problem - after several different plumbers gave me different reasons as to why my shower was leaking, Bill found the real source. He suggested using a scope to look into the ceiling above my kitchen to investigate the problem, as well as taking out the fixture I was going to replace along with some tiles to ensure we knew the source. He did all of this as part of giving me an estimate. He clearly told me that if I didn't proceed with him, effectively his 2 visits on a weekend would be free. I appreciated the candor and the approach to the sale - Planning the work - I was looking for the work to be done in a week and he made all of the arrangements between his team, the plumber and tiler to ensure that it happened, keeping me posted with the progress along the way. The fact that Bill was able to do the estimate on a weekend and came back the following weekend to repair the ceiling dry wall was very helpful given my schedule - Executing the work - Each of contractors was thorough, effective and managed to keep my bathroom as clean as possible throughout the experience. They involved me throughout the work to ensure that I was getting what I was expecting - Quality of the final product - Bill suggested that I visit The Tile Shop for my tile and what a difference that made. I found a great set of tile that in the end became an accent piece as they were able to otherwise use some extra tiles that I had. I wasn't happy with the first shower head I bought for the shower in that the there was little water pressure. Bill determined it wasn't the shower head but some debris in the pipe, thereby enabling me to keep the head I really liked After experiencing so many problems in finding the source of the leak and finding a good plumber, I was so glad I found Bill.
Description of Work: I hired Bill and his Company to first diagnose the source of the leak from my master bedroom shower and to repair the leak. The work included finding the source, removing the large shower fixture that was leaking and replacing it with another fixture, replacing tile with new accent tile, repairing the grout across the floor and walls and repairing the ceiling drywall in my kitchen.

We had many issues with Craftsman Service during the job due to their inattention to detail and not installing things right the first time. In fact we had to file a complaint against them due to an issue we discovered after the job was complete. The complaint has been resolved.

Attention to detail is the hallmark of our company. Reports from other members confirms my claim. We went to great lenghts to satisfy this member. The complaint was filed because they felt the vanity lights were not level. We promptly took care of the issue, as we did all of their concerns. We stand ready to take care of any and all concerns that this member or any other member may have

We couldn't have been more pleased with the service and the work performed. I would recommend them to anyone for these reasons: 1. They are professional; 2. They showed up every time when they said they would and on time; 3. They cleaned up and never left a mess; and 4: Their work is perfect. There are no flaws, no paint on anything but the walls. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful. We honestly have no complaints and it was such a pleasure to work with them. The entire process went perfectly. Bill answered when I called. He showed up on time and was quick and precise with his estimate. He gave us the names of a places to look for countertops and tile. It took us awhile to pick out what we wanted and when we called to say we were ready he came out again, on time, to go over the job. When the appliances were to arrive we were told by the company we purchased them from that they would not touch, take way or install the stove, dishwasher or microwave. In a panic I called Bill and he reassured us that he could take care of that for us. This all coincided with the removal and installation of the new countertops so we were without the use of any water in the kitchen. When Bill's sons Luke and Adam came out to tear out the countertops the new applicances were there and they hooked up the water/icemaker (Friday) The countertops were installed on Saturday. Bill and Luke came out on SUNDAY and hooked up the stove, installed the microwave, installed the dishwasher and put in our faucet so we would not be without the use of our kitchen. After we picked out the tile and paint George from his crew came out and installed the backsplash and the flooring. As soon as that was finished they came in and painted the kitchen and family room in one day.
Description of Work: They took out our existing countertops, hooked up new applicances and hauled old ones away, installed backsplash and new ceramic flooring, sealed same; painted the kitchen and family room.

Bill Shephard came as scheduled for a meeting to discuss the work and sent an estimate within a week. His estimate was about $1,000 less than one other I had. His estimate included work only and all materials, fixtures, appliances were purchased separately by the owner. By purchasing tile at a company with which he was registered, we received a moderate discount. At the time our work was done, the company (which is a family co) had multiple jobs scheduled, so getting onto their schedule was delayed more than once. As we were not in a great hurry, this was not a big concern. When there were critical deadlines such as counter installation, all prep work was done in a timely way. Bill worked on ceiling repairs over the removed wall until we were satisfied with the match of pattern. We were quite satisfied with the final looks of the walls, ceiling, fan, lights, and counters.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel involving preparation/removal of old countertops, range hood, and drop in range, installation of over the range microwave including building faux cabinet above range, installation of backspash (countertops were installed by quartz company), installed faucet, disposal, installed duct to outside over range and microwave, removed half-wall between kitchen and family room and repaired wall where needed, installed 2 pendant lights, moved light fixture over kitchen table, replaced kitchen ceiling light, installed new light under a section of cabinets.

My overall experience was a good one. I ordered my shower door from a company in California and is turned out to be a bit too wide for the shower opening. Bill Shepherd saved me from having to return it by having a glass company make a panel to fit at his expense because of the error. The measurement was a bit off because of the new tile. Make sure you take this into consideration when installing new tile and shower doors. If your project includes tile, I would call Craftsman Service Co. I can't say enough about George's work. He takes his time and makes certain the tile is perfect. This is so important.
Description of Work: Bill Shepherd's Craftsman Service Co. could not have been better to work with. The company is small and family owned, which gives them a strong personal investment in their work. This was my first remodel project and I picked companies from Angie's List for estimates and Bill's was the lowest. They took their time and always talked with me about exactly what I wanted before moving ahead. Their tile installer, George, was excellent. Bill, personally, took every call I made, answering all my questions and offering me options when warranted. Most of the time he answered my calls immediately day or evening including weekends. If he didn't answer immediately, he called back the same day. This is unusual and great! They did a great job and my new bathroom is beautiful. I would definitely call Craftsman Service again!

We had several estimates and Bill's was very competitive. He had several jobs in queue before ours but he was great about communicating his status so we could plan to have someone home while the work was done. He started on the day he said he would and finished within a week (even though his estimate warned that it might take an extra day or two). The tile work is exquisite - we are very happy with the finished product. The workers were very accommodating of our input as the job went along. For instance, the new mirror/medicine cabinet was a different size than the old one and where it was initially installed seemed a bit too low. They took it out and mounted it higher for us. There were other little things that weren't in the estimate, such as installing our new towel bar, toilet paper rod, and shower curtain rod. They did these things without charging us extra. Another great thing was that, although we bought our own materials, we got to use their 25% discount at The Tile Shop on Morse road. That saved us a lot of money. The workers were professional and prompt, and did a good job of cleaning the area at the end of each day. Overall we are very pleased with the whole experience and would recommend Craftsman Service Co. to anyone else that is considering remodeling their home.
Description of Work: We remodeled our bathroom. This job involved ripping out the old tile surrounding our shower, as well as the backing board. We had new 12-inch natural stone tile put in as well as new fixtures. Also new toilet, sink, vanity, and mirror. The price above was only for the labor. Our cost for the whole job was around $5500 including materials.

Took somewhat longer than we expected, but result was worth the wait. Responsive to our questions and concerns, from the beginning before the work was even started. Went beyond the original list of what would be done, for example taking down wallpaper in the hallway and painting the hallway in addition to the bathroom after having to cut a hole in the hallway wall to access the tub plumbing. Worked with us to have the cabinet company replace part of a cabinet which was defective by insisting that the cabinet could not be used as is. Kept in touch by phone to let us know the schedules for each day. Made sure the toilet was reinstalled so we could keep using it over weekends and at night.
Description of Work: Gutted bathroom; installed new tub, ceramic floor tiles and ceramic tiles around tub; new cabinets and granite countertop, lighting, vent, towel rods, shower curtain rod, hand rails on tub walls, removed wallpaper and painted walls, painted ceiling, installed new track for pocket door, new trim around two doors, put hardware in the linen cabinet so drawers could slide out.

Could not have gone better! Dining room tiling went smoothly. Kitchen had unexpected difficulty, since the old tile was glued on, and had to be removed electrically: this did not faze anyone out, they proceeded to do a superior job, even though this delayed everyone's timetable for completion! We had anticipated to be without appliances / faucets, but that did NOT happen! Bill et al came the day before receiving the granite countertops, disconnected everything, and the same DAY the countertops were installed, Bill and sons came back and successfully re-connected everything! George does a superior job tiling, even with an artistic eye; he is a perfectionist! We did have an incredible amount of dust from removing the tile, but that could not have been either anticipated or avoided; we were glad that, in spite of this complication, George insisted on removing it to perfection. Great job! All in all, they left us with a gorgeous home!
Description of Work: Work involved tiling the dining room, removing old tile from kitchen/hallway/powder room, and re-tiling these, plus disconnecting all kitchen appliances/ faucets etc for granite countertop placements, and re-connecting them.

To prepare for the remodeling the bathroom was demolished, however, you would not know it given the thoroughness of cleaning up the mess by the crew. The Craftsmen Service crew members were skilled, knowledgeable, personable, and patient with all of our questions. When confronted with an unforeseen situation they informed us of the concern, and a satisfactory solution was always found. In addition, from their years of experience they had suggestions on how to address certain remodeling areas, which were just the needed touches. Th crew was punctual and throughly cleaned the work area everyday. Bill Shepherd was extremely responsive to any concern we had before, during or after the work was completed. He would return phone calls the same day, and sometime within a few minutes of our call. We have a new master bathroom that we enjoy using everyday.
Description of Work: We found Craftsmen Service Co. on Angie's List and we are glad we did. We contacted Craftsmen Service Co., and Bill Shepherd came to our house to discuss our needs. He recommend several vendors to go to an look at models and items to possibly incorporate into the remodeling. In addition, he took measurements and within a few days emailed us drawings of what we had discussed. He gave us many ideas and thoroughly reviewed options and variables. His quick turn around convinced us to go with Craftsmen Services. Bill has a calm nature that is reassuring and helpful. After visiting the various recommended vendors we met with Bill again to work out the details of the remodeling. We are recommending Craftsmen Service Co. to all our friends and family. And, soon, we are working with bIll again, which must be the best recommendation one can offer.

It went excellent! He is very professional and very honest! I highly recommend him!
Description of Work: The services included Ceramic Tile Instillation, and molding on the floor. Also did some drywall and sealing work for me. The grouting on a couple of tiles started cracking and he repaired it without a problem! He stood by his work and did the necessary repairs on time!

Last winter Angie’s List offered a Big Deal through Craftsmen Service for $50 for either a kitchen or bath plan and estimate for renovation. We were dealing with another project at the time when he wanted to come out so it was a great inconvenience, but we let him come and look at our master bath. He asked what we were thinking and we told him what we were thinking about doing and we were also looking at resale down the road. We wanted him to give us his plan. All we got was an estimate solely based on labor on what we had suggested. That was in no way a plan so we had paid $50 for an estimate. His name was Bill Shepherd. We believe they misrepresented themselves based on what was advertised. They did not in any way provide what they advertised, which was a plan, which to us meant drawings and something we could look at and think about. He could have just told us how much he charged per man-hour and we could have guessed it ourselves. We wanted someone who had more knowledge and better suggestions. We had thoughts for doing this, this and this and we wanted someone that could improve on that and give us a plan. He did come on time.
Description of Work: We got an estimate from Craftsmen Service to renovate our master bath.

Response from Craftsmen Service Co / 1 Stop
My Apology for what happened. I e-mail my estimates. Either I forgot to attach the diagram or the client didn't see the attachment. We follow up with a phone call to help catch this type of communication error. I am sending her a check for $50.00. We strive for customer satisfaction, occasionally we fall short.

The project went according to plan for both time spent and cost.
Description of Work: This project was more or less an add on to a kitchen remodel that expanded into the living room. As the kitchen work was finishing, I decided to install hard wood floors in the kitchen and dining room. Bill gave me an estimate to remove about 120 ft2 of engineered hardwood and then install about 200ft2 of red oak prefinished hardwood 31/4 inch plank. I also, asked him for a separate estimate to install another 250 ft2 of hardwood in the living room. The estimates were reasonable enough that I decided to do all the rooms. The above price includes the labor of 2-3 people ($1550) and incidental supplies. I purchased all the flooring and floor vents from a flooring company. The project included removal of all old hardwood, carpeting and nails. Then the installation of new hardwood, moldings and connections between some existing hardwood and new hardwood. The final product was a beautiful new floor.

The project went just as planned. We had outlined the primary tasks to complete the job and it took about 3 weeks to complete these tasks. I had planned to use another contractor to install hardwood flooring, but I enjoyed working with Bill and his people so much that we initiated a separate agreement for that activity.
Description of Work: The Craftsman crew of 4 people plus an electrical subcontractor perfomed the following-- Removed a wall between the kitchen and dining room, installed a 16 inch header, repaired walls and ceiling, relocated electrical switches and outlets, installed new can- lights, rebuilt cabinet over the refrigerator to allow for a taller new fridge, installed added pantry and 6 new cabinets, painted ceilings and walls in the new combined rooms. The price reflects labor and skill provided by Craftsman and electrical contractor. I purchased the pantry and new cabinets to match other older cabinets.
