 + -1 moreThe service provider ended up changing 4 sprinkler heads as he told me 2 of the other ones were a little slow. It was my decision to change them. He was honest in what needed to be done now. I'm not sure that any of the other sprinklers needed adjusting, nor did I see the service provider do any adjustments. He was friendly and the area was left as if he wasn't there to begin with.
Description of Work: Provider turned on and inspected all zones. He then recommended changing two sprinkler heads, specifically the ones I told him I had issues with.

 + -1 moreSo, as it turns out there was also a break in the electrical wire that was right next to the leak. As the water would leak it was keeping the ground so wet that the current in the wire was able to conduct through the soaked soil and allow the valve to turn on and off?when it wasn't leaking and the soil was dry and that zone would no longer work. After Dan identified the problem Brian was able to come back out and fix the leak and also locate our 6th and final valve box! Everyone that I dealt with at Active, Ryan, Brian, Dan, Shari and Victor were all completely customer service oriented, always taking time to explain everything that they had done and what their plans would be moving forward. In addition to excellent communication, they were friendly, knowledgeable and absolutely determined to find our leak. They went above and beyond and were obviously frustrated with initially not being able to find the leak. They stand behind their work and as far as I am concerned?come HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Description of Work: We had a leak in our sprinkler system so we purchased the '$42.50 Full Sprinkler Tune-Up' deal from Active Lawn Care & Landscaping Inc through Angie's list in hopes that we may discover what was causing our leak. The technician (Ryan) was unable to find our leak during his visit but he did fix a broken sprinkler head. Ryan came back out a few days later to continue looking for the leak with no luck and recommended that one of his associates with more experience should give it a shot. After this we scheduled an appointment for a more thorough investigation. This time Brian came out and although he was unable to find the leak he did find 5 of our valve boxes that had become buried. He sent an electrical signal out to all the valves and was able to determine that the leak did not seem to be in any of those zones. After a very meticulous and painstaking time spent searching he was stumped and recommended that we contact the 'Leak Doctor' to come out and listen for the leak with their ultrasound device. Long story short...the 'Leak Doctor' could not find the leak (even after coming back out a second time with a different device). During this time I was only using the system to water manually and after about a week or so something odd happened. Since we purchased our house, our irrigation system which has 6 zones, only had 5 working zones (1–5). Now all of the sudden my zone 1 no longer worked but all of the sudden I had a working zone 6...a zone that up until this point we did not even know existed. I called Active again to inquire about this strange occurrence. Could there have been an adjustment made to the system that caused this issue? Again Brian came out and spent time trying to figure out the problem and after awhile he recommended that his associate Dan should come out and take a look. We rescheduled and this time Dan came out and discovered the issue! He found the leak!

 + -1 moreHe said it's hard to know what is underground. Wow, if you are in the sprinkler business, I would not expect an answer like that! I decided right at that moment on the phone to just cancel the whole thing. I never had anyone not be able to give me an estimate for a job. Had another company come out the next day, got the estimate and they got the job.
Description of Work: The guy called me (Victor, I think) and said it's hard to give an estimate because he does not know where the main water line is located.

 + -1 moreDan was the representative. He was very thorough and explained what he was doing and pointed out several issues, which he fixed for no additional charge. He also explained to me how to use my timers on the sprinkler system, which I had been confused about for years! He only charged an additional fee for replacing one broken sprinkler head, a reasonable $20.00. Whenever I have a problem again, I will call them!

They replaced all of the heads for a very reasonable charge, redirected my coverage area to maximize the coverage, reset my timer........ al in all, tuned up my irrigation system for only $49. I only paid extra for the sprinkler heads and they were reasonable. I have already referred them to my neighbor, and would definitely use them again.

 + 1 moreFrom talking to them on the phone for this service, I am having them do planting, mulching, trenching and other landscaping work. For two months I have been trying to find a service that will do this work. Victor came out, was incredibly knowledgable and suggested even some cost saving options. I received emailed estimates and pictures THAT NIGHT and followed up perfectly every time I would ask questions or change my plans. I will follow up after the work is complete, but I have total confidence in this company. (I did NOT have this experience with the other landscape companies I contacted)

They showed up on time and got everything taken care of. They sent 2 people out to do the job. They got the job done in about 45 minutes to one hour. The scheduling was very easy and they kept their schedule.

 + -1 moreThe girl who called back tried to sell me the Angies List special, even after I told her exactly what the problem was. She was trying her hardest to sell me on a $42 "Tune-Up" after I explained that my system was in fine working condition and didn't need a tune up, but rather needed a leaking pipe repaired. She got really nasty, and tried to blame me for the way teh phone call went, when she was the one not lstening to what I was saying. There are plenty of great providers out there, I don't need to work with one that tries to push unnecessary services even after they are told specifically what the problem is and why you are calling. I have someone else coming who answered the phone on the first ring. Updated after the vendor left a comment: I never used "foul language" with them. As to it not being rocket science, it is not. I also didn't say that my husband couldn't figure out what was wrong, I said he did figure it out, there is a leak in one of the lines, but he doesn't have the time or inclination to dig up the yard to find it, nor does he have the equipment to find a leak without digging--as I told them.. As can be seen by their response, they didn't want to do the work I was requesting, and instead wanted to try to sell me services I didn't want or need. When she offered the discounted hourly rate, she indicated that it would be for one hour, and if he couldn't fix it, they would need to reschedule for another day. That is unacceptable to me. If you are going to do the work, block the time to come and do it, not come, poke around, and say you'll be back in a week to fix it.
Description of Work: Based on the high mark's from Angie's List, I called to make an appointment to have very specific work done on my system--repairing a leaking line. First problem is that we called on Monday noon-ish, and they didn't call back until late morning on Tuesday.
