This time after the inspector called and left a message on my answering machine, I tried to return the call and left numerous messages and did not receive a call back. I finally called the office on two different occasions and was finally able to talk to him. He told me that if I would be home all day that he would squeeze me in but that he had been very busy. He never showed and
did not call after I had waited all day. I called the next day and he said that he was sorry but that he had forgotten to write it down so we scheduled an appointment. He saw evidence of swarming but could not find an exact location. He said that his supervisor would schedule a retreatment.
The gentleman that came out, also could not find the exact location in order to do the retreatment but said that he would treat the area where the termite wings were located. There were no signs of activity, but was simply a large window where they were attracted to the lights outside. I told him that it did not make sense to treat the area if there was no sign of activity. I had told him that when they were swarming that it seemed that they were coming from the recessed lights in the ceiling. Since we do not have an attic, and if they were in the roof he would not be able to treat them locally and I believed the house would have to be tented. He told me that he would make the report to his supervisor and pass along my concerns.
After days of not hearing anything else I had to start leaving messages again that were not returned. Finally after a couple of more days, and some agitated phone calls, I finally was able to speak with a supervisor. He was not even aware that anyone had come
to my house to do a retreatment and was asking me the name of the person. After I expressed my concerns to him and requested that the house be tented, he told me that he was not able to simply put a tent on even though to this point no one had been able to locate the exact location. We went back and forth arguing about what needed to be done and in the end I relented and agreed to have their treatment manager come out and inspect the house to determine whether he could treat them locally or if I would need to have the house tented. The appointment was scheduled for the following day between 10 am and 12 pm. Nobody showed and
Nobody called. Two days went by without hearing from the local office and I just finished calling the main office to cancel my contract. I told them what happened and all they said was that they were sorry to see me go.
I now have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get my money back for this year, but I feel like an idiot for having paid them $350 for all the
previous years.
DO NOT BUY AN ORKIN CONTRACT!!
I have been using this company for almost a year for lawn control on two separate locations. At the first initial appointment I explained what I wanted. I also mentioned that it was important that they call ahead.
During the first visit to actually spray the yard, the tech just showed up. Unfortunately for this service I needed to be home. I was on my way out the door when the tech arrived at my house, this then made me late for a prior appointment. I then stressed the importance of always calling ahead and having an appointment.
After this visit the tech continued to show up unannounced to perform service. Every other month after they arrived I would call and ask them to call before showing up. They even had it noted on my account and this is written right on the invoices. But 6 out of 7 visits they just showed up. I then cancelled the service about 6 weeks ago because of this issue. Then a few days ago they showed up again, sprayed the yard and left me a bill. Again showed up without calling - plus the service was previously cancelled!! Additionally there was no sign or anything left on the lawn saying it was sprayed w/pesticide - very dangerous for pets and children!!
Even after using this service I continued to have problems with insects and ants.
