About us

We are a boutique style residential cleaning and home management company. We currently have only 4 employees and do not use sub-contractors. We are licensed in Duval county, and we have general liability insurance and current background checks. You can see our documentation by visiting our web site and clicking on the links in the FAQs. We offer an all Natural or a Green Cleaning package for the environmentally conscious person. We like to support our local economy so we buy all of our products and equipment right here in Jacksonville even though the Internet might be cheaper. We use high quality, commercial grade equipment and supplies. One thing that sets us apart is that we clean no more than two houses per day. Many times we will only clean one. While we work efficiently, we do not want to hurry and take short cuts in our cleaning. If a technician cleans more than 2 houses, by the 3rd one they are often tired and the quality of the clean may suffer. We give free estimates but will try to ball park an estimate on the phone if needed. We also give back to our community by volunteering in schools, volunteering with Veteran's groups and donating blood regularly. We are strong advocates of our environment so we promote recycling and re-purposing wherever we can. One of our special add on services is properly disposing of your eWaste or other hazardous household waste. We have local references whose names and numbers we don't publish but can provide you with if you contact us.

We are a boutique style residential cleaning and home management company. We love cleaning up pet hair! Our clients like us because we are very flexible with scheduling and we have good communication and customer service skills. We offer one time cleaning, bi-weekly, tri-weekly, monthly and as needed. We can accommodate some weekend cleaning with enough notice. All of our cleaners are very dog and cat friendly. We will tailor the clean to meet your budget if possible.

Description of Work: Call last week to have house cleaned that is when she should of told me that I should try to find someone else instead of dragging it out for nearly a week and then had some girl that works for her to tell me she couldn't do it. Not professional.

Ughh! I am trying to get this one to be an A! Your place is small and fairly easy but we have bombed and I know it. I hope that we are past that since you reviewed us in Nov. and I think we have been doing better. I did let some things go last year. I was doing the cancer treatment and was understaffed. But I think we have it under control now and we are being more consistent in our cleaning and details! I am sorry I ever did not attend to checking on the cleaning but I do appreciate your patience and willingness to give us another try!

And as much as I don't like saying it out loud.....I appreciate the negative reviews too because it prompts us to continue to try harder and do better. We all fall short sometimes and in the past year the company has had some growing pains but we truly do want to provide you with a great service. You were kind to donate a whole bunch of boxed food which I donated to the Salvation Army on your behalf. I did give a few out to some of my own neighbors who are low income. The meals were great because there was no need to refrigerate them. Everyone said "thanks" to you, too. Wherever you land, I hope you do well and if you want me to try to connect you with a great service in your area I will try.

Description of Work: The owner Mari gave the impression that she'll be at my house every scheduled cleaning. For the most part I had a different cleaner every single time. on regular basis I had to leave notes that the bathroom wasn't cleaned to my liking, or that the kitchen counter wasn't wipped down, items that we went over upon interview, but didn't seem to be the standard with the cleaning crew, such as not moving/lifting any containers or objects laying on the counter. As for punctuality, that also left a lot to be desired as often they would arrive 1/2 to 1 hour later then scheduled.

I am so sorry I have waited this long to respond to your review. We have experienced some growing pains in the past few months and while I think the high standards of cleaning has been maintained, I have fallen short in the office management side of things. My mother and other influential people in my life have told me....just be honest with people. Don't make excuses. The truth is I started this business alone and planned to work alone as that is what I like best. But I am in my 50s and although healthy, cleaning 40 hours a week is physically hard work. I ended up hiring help to be able to keep up with the calls and cleaning we had scheduled. I also tore my Anterior cruciate ligament in October last year while I was cleaning out my huge compost bin. This was one month before you posted your review. It was a serious injury and I still did not miss one day of work. I showed up and although I was slower than usual, I did try very hard to be reliable as that is my owe pet peeve. Any new business owner will tell you that hiring is the absolute WORST and most difficult part about running a business. It's easy to sit around and write up plans and do profit and loss statements. Show up and open the doors. But hiring. That is a beast! I failed many times and unfortunately much of it happened during those summer months. You were a monthly client and I often changed the scheduled cleaning date to work around your travel and work schedule. But I was not staffed well enough to be able to send the same cleaner to you. I did almost always show up to walk the cleaner through your home and point out your pet peeves. And yes, there were times I trusted the cleaner to do the job without me. The one cleaner you most liked was honest with me in that she did not like to clean for you. She felt you hovered over her looking for mistakes and it made her uncomfortable. We like cleaning. We really do or we wouldn't be doing this for our full time jobs. But sometimes it is just not a good fit with some clients and I think this is one of those times. Regarding punctuality, we had noted on the schedule that you and your husband worked and we felt that as long as we got the clean completed by 5:00 pm it would be okay. We clean for a lot of people who do not leave us a key and are home the entire time we clean and we do aim to be on time. When we start our day, if the first house has not left the key, we end up waiting 30 or 40 minutes for the client to come let us in. Clients may ask us to do additional cleaning when we show up so we end up spending 30 more minutes in their home rather than tell them "no." So the day does not always go as planned. We faced crossing several train tracks to get to your house. And you lived much further away from most of our cleaning clients. We have to cope with traffic, the weather and life events that may make us run late. For the clients who have given us a key and who work out side the home, we may show up later than we say because we feel we have some leeway. We do honestly do our best and I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. You had at least two cats in the home and often we would wipe the kitchen counters early in the clean but by the end of the clean, the cats had jumped on the counters or the tables and there was hair again. The cats spent most of their time in the kitchen and it is hard for a place to stay immaculate when the cats are walking and jumping on the counters. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations and in cases like this, I think it was not a good fit from the start. I should have explained my own circumstances to you and about the punctuality issue. I am trying to do better but I appreciate that I have learned from this experience. And I wish you and your family the best during this holiday season.

Description of Work: Meri (the owner) works with several assistants. One or two at a time at our house. Meri is a hard worker; conscientious about the quality of her work and about being fair in pricing. After an initial cleaning that cost a little bit more, she is now cleaning our 2200 square foot home once per month. Wife and I are pretty picky people, but we are highly satisfied w/ her work. Great attitude, congenial, genuine. The opposite of your typical slick repair man salesman. She's been accommodating to our scheduling needs and following through on commitments even at some personal inconvenience at times.

There was not one detail that was not covered. I highly recommend A Well Kept Home to anyone in the Jacksonville, Florida area for your housecleaning. Meri is flexible with her schedule because she really wants to meet the customer?s needs. I've also compared her price, attention to detail, and quality of service with other cleaning services who have received Angie?s List Super Service Awards. A Well Kept Home costs ($105.00) less than any other Angie?s List Super Service Awards recipient, which will charge me $175.00 or more for the same work. If you use someone else other than A Well Kept Home for your housecleaning needs in the Jacksonville, Florida area, you will be making a mistake!

I must give credit where credit is due. Member, you can thank my mentor, USAF Lt. Col. Jim Johnson, Detachment Commander at our Air Force Office of Special Investigations in Bedford, MA. We were felony investigators. Lt. Col. Johnson taught me the importance of details in collecting evidence. We had to get every stray hair, fingernail clipping and other minute objects that might be evidence about the crime. I recall searching an airman's desk for illegal drugs. I dutifully opened all the drawers, searched the contents, looked behind the desk and thought I was done. Not so. Lt. Col. Johnson taught me to take out every drawer. To check the bottom to see if envelopes or packets of cocaine were taped there. Or taped to the very back side of the exterior of the drawer. Then get on your back and look up into the inner part of the drawer cavity. There were lots of places evidence could hide that never occurred to me. With art, we had to peel off the paper backing and see if evidence was hidden inside. Searching a closet, learned you don't just check the pockets. You have to physically feel every hem of every garment for a packet or lump of evidence that might be sewn in a hem. I could write a novel about it all! Many years have gone by since I had that job, but I can assure you, those same lessons are very relevant to cleaning. It's all about attention to detail. Sure, almost anyone can clean a house but we aim to cover the details for our clients who want a thorough cleaning. I train my staff to think of a house like a crime scene. To look for the smudges and dust and grime that many cleaners would overlook. We do it for you, our customer, but it also makes our routine cleanings that much easier the next time we visit you. I can't promise every client the same rate because every space is unique and every customer has unique priorities and budgets. We do try to find a balance between what you want and what we can give within a stated price range.

I contacted Merri by phone and left a voice message. She returned my call within a few hours. She gave me an overview of their services and what it would cost. We then set up a time for her to come out and give me an estimate. She was on time, very nice and professional. I called her back a couple of days later to confirm I wanted to use her and set up a time for her to come clean. After that we communicated by text and set a date for her to come. We continue to use texting as the best form of communication for both of us.
Description of Work: I have a three story house with four bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. We are empty nesters and it had been a while since the house had been really cleaned. I asked for a deep clean to begin to get it back in decent shape. They mopped & vacuumed all floors (which included numerous steps), wiped down all baseboards, dusted and wiped all surfaces, cleaned bathrooms & mirrors, kitchen, took out the trash and vacuumed all cushions in the living room. They did an excellent job and we were very pleased. They will be coming back for regular maintenance. Merri, the owner, was very professional and made me feel comfortable enough to not be at the house when they were cleaning. I would highly recommend their services

What I like about the member and her family is that this is a home that is lived in. She and her husband head up the Duval County Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program and the member just got elected to the Duval County School Board. They are busy. Really, house cleaning is secondary when you have so many other meaningful commitments. Not to mention they just raised SIX children here! So while it is not pristine it is a home you can tell has been lived and loved in. Since the children moved out the pets have moved in. I think I could safely say that she and Warren are experiencing separation anxiety! Pets help ease that anxiety! It is a big house. It's in a very cool location backing up to part of the St. Johns River. But she and Warren are very easy to work with and it's a pleasure to clean a home for someone who really appreciates your efforts. I might add that it was my Team Members the member and Felecia who did an outstanding first clean for the family though!

Meri was very good about communicating with me about when the service could be done that would accommodate both her and my schedules. She was delayed by traffic but that did not affect me at all & she notified me that traffic was the issue. It took her about 2 1/2 to 3 hr to complete the job which is what I would expect even though my house is not that large (1600 sq ft). I have pets so there was a lot of vacuuming of furniture involved and floor washing since I do not have carpeting. She was thorough and tolerated my long list of "details" particular to my household of pets. I think the price is fair and of note, the price above includes my "Angie's List" discount. Even without the discount, I think the rates are competitive.I was very satisfied with the work performed and I plan to continue monthly service with her. I would also recommend her based on my limited experience so far.

I needed help keeping my house clean and just never felt like doing it after long days at work. I hired a couple of women I met through my job but none of them worked out. Finally, I heard about A Well Kept Home and tried them. They are licensed and insured. They came out and did an initial deep cleaning of my home, taking down light fixtures to get the dead bugs out and moving furniture to vacuum under it. It was excellent. Since then, I use them about twice a month and Meri will even do other chores as needed. She has brushed down my swimming pool and balanced the chemicals. She cleans the filter on the Koi Pond. She goes above what most housekeepers do and I appreciate it.
Description of Work: A Well Kept Home came out and did a maintenance cleaning of my 1700 square foot home. I have used them for several months and it's been excellent every single time. They also skim out my Koi Pond and brush down my swimming pool. Meri has even taken my dog to the vet during a time when I could not get off of work.
