I had a remanufactured transmission installed in a 2011 GMC Yukon for $3000 in 2011 with a 3 yr 100k warranty. After only 22k miles the transmission has completely failed. It is past the warranty period but anyone would agree that a new transmission should last much longer than that if done properly. I went to the Tuffy store and they offered to fix it for $3500! Next I filled out a form on the Tuffy franchise site and immediately got a response that the franchise owner would call me. Bob never called; instead he emailed to state that a vehicle not driven often would have this issue. This vehicle is driven every day, but within a 5 mile block from home. No towing or hard or long miles. So not only is he making excuses for obviously sub-par work, he is making assumptions rather than having a conversation with me. In the email he apologized that there was nothing he could do, that the price of parts and labor had gone up so he could not give me more than the $200 break reflected in the $3500 price. I have been taking my vehicles there since they opened in 2011- every religious oil change, every regular maintenance that most people don't do, you name it. He acknowledged all this in his email but still nothing. Obviously i will not be giving them any more business and I hope anyone reading this will consider trusting this place to give good customer service, or even proper repairs.

Your transmission was replaced by the previous owner of this store on 6/1/11, and on 6/23/16, 5 years later you now have a problem with your transmission. We offered you a discounted price to replace the trans, but unfortunately you were not satisfied with that. You say that you come to our store religiously for all of your maintenance but our records show that you have only been in our store 6 times starting on 6/1/11 and the next visit was 4/9/13, that's almost 2 years later. We stand by our work and we honor the written warranty for all services. Team Tuffy"

They also offer military discount (10%). After showing my ID, and quot;Adamand quot; even thanked me for my service. A very pleasant surprise (establishments that do offer military discount rarely thank the veteran for their service so this was a welcome compliment).
I even asked for a tire rotation but was advised not to due to the age of the tires and the mismatched rear tires. That was surprising too since I've never come across a car place that told the customer a service wasn't needed.
