S&M Hardwood

I had a water leak in my kitchen which destroyed the hardwood floor. The insurance company paid for me to replace all of the hardwood floor in my house. I contacted S&M Hardwood and Mike came out to look at the project. He was very professional and knowledgable about flooring. After deciding to go with his company we were able to go look at samples and bring them home to look at them in our home to see how they would look in the lighting in our home. We decided on a hickory floor and also to have new base board installed throughout the house. Mike told us the project would take 5 days to complete. On Monday the crew to remove the old flooring arrived. I handed my key to the house to them and left for the week. I had asked them to make sure my DVR was plugged in each night and they did do that. I stopped in to check the progress on Wednesday and was happy to see the progress that was made. I returned on Friday and all of the flooring was completed. All that was left was some minor finisihing touches and to install the baseboards. They were complete by Friday afternoon. All of my furniture was back in placed and the floor was cleaned. The floor looked great. The job was completed on schedule and done to my satisfaction. I do have to note that Mike sub-contracted out the removal of the old flooring and that sub-contractor was not as careful as they could have been becaus during the removal the old flooring some of the pieces got kicked up and hit our walls. Mike and his crew were great about fixing the damage and touching it up with the paint I had on hand. Unfortunately, the touch-ups in my dining/living room were very noticable and stood out. But Mike took care of that. He hired a painter to come in and fix the areas of damage and to paint all of the walls in my dining/linving area. Yes, it was an inconvience, but it is not the fact that a problem happend, it was the fact that Mike stepped up and took care of the problem. That shows me how professional he is and how much he cares about his business and his cutomers. I would highly recommend him for any project as he stands behind his work.

They repaired a couple of boards and put some boards back in. It is a difficult floor and I was unsure it could be fixed. We might have to have them come back for future work because the boards are starting to pop up again. They were very wonderful to work with and we liked them.

On Mondasy24, 2014 I had a phone conversation after choosing S&M from Angies List to do some flooring work. It was agreed between Mike and myself that he could do the work. We Also agreed that I would call him on Saturday March 1, 2014, phone # 727-687-8307 for the purposr of meeting with him that day to look as some Laminate Flooring either with him, or if he was busy, with his wife at his store on Ulmerton Road. I did call Mike but there was no answer. I explained who I was, why I called and left my phone number for him to call. I never received his cll. I guess he is not interested in my business. MI don't have time to mess with incompetant, unprofessional business owners such as him. This does not do anything for Angies List either.

Mike and his crew did a great job. They know what they're doing. I'd recommend using them and plan to use them again in the future.

Mike and his team did an excellent job quality wise on the stairs in our house installing wood and stair noses we had already. The only drawback might be that he had to leave a few times, presumably to look at other jobs, and left his assistant here alone. I guess for this reason it did take almost two full days to remove the carpet, pre-finish and install, but it looks great, he and his team were very professional (I believe it was chuck - thank you!).

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It worked out very well. They were very friendly, professional and efficient. They got more done in less time than we thought for the same money. I would absolutely use them again.

S&M went above and beyond my expectations. They arrived early, and when they found out that one of the problems with my carpet was that the flooring underneath the carpet had buckled, they went right to work to repair the flooring underneath. I was very satisfied with the professionalism of the men and the fine job they did.

My experience with S & M Hardwood was great from the first phone call clear through to the expert install. Michael came the next day with samples and offered to cut existing the carpet (still in decent shape) and install it in two bedrooms for a great price. The install was quick and the floors look gorgeous. Michael is meticulous, takes his work seriously, and delivered on all of his promises. I not only would recommend S & M Hardwood again, I plan to. The level of craftsmanship and professionalism was impressive. GREAT experience!

A fantastic experience with Mike and Carlos. At first, a couple of weeks ago Mike was bogged down with all of the "Big Deal" orders he had received so we had a tough time with scheduling, but today Mike was prompt and him and Carlos did a knockout job. The team examined the areas I needed fixed and even took the extra steps necessary to make sure no damage was done to my baseboards while still making the job look clean. They even assisted with a little painting and caulking. I would highly recommend S&M and will be using them in the future for any flooring I need replaced.

Mike had a cancellation so he came four days early which was fine with me. He came with three other workers and they were about 90% done the first day. They came back the next morning and finished up. Everything looks great.

We called Michael several times, approximately two weeks after the job was done and when we discovered the problem and received no answer on several occasions. We called him morning and afternoons at his office and cell or mobile phones off and on for two weeks.. He finally called about a 2 weeks later and said he would be out on a Thursday 5/30 either 8 or 8:30 am. We agreed with the date and waited past 9 am then left due to an upcoming appointment. Finally I (Mrs), called and told him that he should come out and fix the problem either that same day later or the following Monday and yes, after all this time I did over react and was upset. WHY, because we were upset that he did not treat us fairly and did not response to our calls as to why he never came out on 5/30. Yes, we were aware that he was moving his business to a new location on June 1st and we felt that he could have sent another person or spent the time to find out what and how he could get it fixed. He was a nice guy when it came to giving us an estimate and communicate on the project, material and service to do the work. He was Honest. congenial which made it comfortable to talk with him and we knew what he was talking about. The fee was very good and we were happy with him and his helper, etc., so this is the problem. Why cannot he come out and see us. This is poor service and he owes us this after we paid him outright when the job was done. Thank you and can you see what you can do with this client of yours, Angie? Called for a business that takes your money and you never see him again for a problem is something we do not understand because you are suppose to have such good people. We have had others that were good from you and we were happy and one or 2 that were not. Your advertisements, Angie, are not living up to what you state in your commercials. Update to Provider Response 11/15/2013: S&M Hardwood told a silly, childish lie about putting hands on his worker. That never happened from either of us. Too bad he couldn't think of telling the truth. Apology not accepted and heavens no to calling him - the Boss. He owes us a visit free and clear. AMEN. Update 11/18/2013: We had offered the owner of S&M Hardwood (will not use his name again), two very good, almost new, tables. One was a long walnut covered folding table heavy, and the other was a bit smaller in white also folding with a handle to transport. My husband asked if he could use them and he said yes. My husband was giving them to him free if he wanted them. He never offered to pay anything in return just said yes and took them. Yes, we saw he had old broken down tables he was working with and since we had these and were considering selling them we made the offer. Sure, it was our loss however, he could have offered us something or attempted to do so and negotiate. No, he was selfish, greedy and he took them without offering anything even if he did say Thank us. As it is today, the rich people rip the little person. So be it, but it just goes to show who really if fair and honest just like when his worker left his tools and my husband called and called then threaten to sell or dispose of them that he finally came to pick them up. We have a clear conscious and can sleep well. We are sure he will lie again and deny this every happened, but that his conscious not ours.

I have been using S&M Hardwood to install carpets in several houses. Michael is SUPERB at what he does. He is diligent, responsive, and efficient. He stands behind his work 100%. I will not use any other carpet installer as long as Michael is available.

Michael & Carlos arrived on our appointed date and commenced immediately in removing the existing floor where the joints had come apart; the planks were reset onto the floor utilizing wood glue in the joints ensuring they won't separate again. Both Michael & Carlos worked and completed the job professionally. They Cleaned up and left the premises in the same condition as upon arrival (furniture was moved in order to accomplish the work). I will definitely use Michael's services again in the future.

I am very happy with the work Michael did. He was enthusiastic, professional and most importantly, he completed the work on the day he said he would. The floor looks amazing. Michael Lane was the person we first spoke to at S&M Hardwood. We were really impressed by his product knowledge and sincerity. Also liked the low pressure friendly attitude. Something else that made us choose this company for our home renovation was the great price. Especially when it comes to the wood floors, and we shopped everywhere...no body came close to the quality and selection we had to choose from, plus he came out to us and helped check everything out and made some great suggestions. So to say the least, its rare these days to get a good deal and get good service, but we sure felt that way. We have already recommended them to friends too and heard good thing from them. We are planning our next flooring project too!

From start to finish, this job was professionally performed. Michael Layne and his associates started the job on time and finished a little earlier than promised. They were courteous and helpful throughout the job. This floor was laid beautifully and they did more than they had to. They moved the furniture, they put the felt pads that I had purchased at Home Depot on all the furniture legs so that we wouldn't have to do it, and they cleaned up everything after the work was done.The hardwood replaced carpeting and made the home look so much different and so much more beautiful. We had a small issue that bothered us and Michael came back quickly to resolve the problem. Everything about this job was done to perfection and we would never have any other company do our flooring work. The price was excellent and the work was excellent. The job was well worth the cost and anyone who wants flooring would do well to do business with this company. What more could you ask?

Michael had done a small job for me almost a year ago. Before contacting him, I visited several places that sell and install flooring. My last call was to Michael and he brought samples to my house for possible selection. One of the sam[ples was exactly what my wife and I were looking for and after he measured the room and quoted a price, there was no question as to who we would select.to actually do the job. Michael and two other installers arrived on schedule and completed the job in a very timely manner. They were professional in every manner not only the removal of the old and the installation of the new, but also in the cleanup they performed before they left. My wife and I are very pleased and there is no question that I will use this company again as the need arises. The quality of the product is outstanding, his price for installation cannot be beat and he is a genuine profession in his manner and ability.

We recently used Michael with S&M Hardwood to install wood flooring in a home we just purchased. He went through the pros and cons of various types of flooring, and really helped us pick out the ideal flooring for us. After making the selection, he gave us a price that we couldn't argue with. When it came to installing the floors, he did an amazing job. He paid excellent attention to detail, and put in really long hours so we could move in promptly. On the final day, he cleaned everything up, and told us to call him if we had any problems, and even explained how to maintain the flooring. He was extremely professional, and I would recommend him to anyone that needs new flooring. He really made sure that we would be satisfied with the end product.
