I gave In His Service Landscaping a 2.5 out of 5 stars due to the fact that the work was not completed to our satisfaction. I communicated with Shannon from Mid-August until Mid- September our desire to clean up and upgrade the look of the landscaping as well as the need for low maintenance afterwards. At first the job showed much improvement once the removal of weeds and unwanted plants was done. The addition of the new rock (which was requested to be white or gray but were black with white tips), the new borders (which was requested to be a modern straight-line look as shown in our computer image design but scalloped edge borders were purchased by them. To resolve the look, I requested them to flip the scalloped borders upside down into the ground when installing thus leaving a straight-line look since we were told they could not be returned), and the new rectangular pavers (which apparently crack easily when first laid) did appear to upgrade the look as requested. Towards the end of the landscaping job, things were done in a hurry-up manner leaving sloppy, unprofessional work behind to get to other clients work. I asked why there were three borders with the scalloped edges up showing at one front end of the house and they replied that’s the best they could do with the irrigation pipe line near the ground. Just check out the “after photo” where it was later changed to reflect like the other straight border edges along the front of the house. The fence line was cleaned out but no gravel rocks were laid to continue the low maintenance request since there were approximately eight bags of gravel rock left. Five of the thirteen pavers in the back yard were rocking and uneven when walked on- no wonder they broke soon after improper installation! One photo shows an old existing paver which was never removed until we hired another landscaper—see the “after photos” -to come in and correct the mistakes. The new border areas all along the front of the house had no landscaping matting material laid down to prevent the long term growth of weeds so constant maintenance was again necessary. I requested the borders be dug securely down in the ground and for that we paid In His Service another $100 above the estimate cost as Shannon explained this would take more time as they were nearing completion. Isn’t that the purpose of the original estimate listed under “labor costs”? The last two borders at the end were not even put down into the ground. They were just laying on their sides! The total cost paid was $2898.23 to In His Service. Throughout the entire job, whenever a request for payment was made, we complied. I phoned Shannon and explained I needed In His Service to come by and take a look at the concerns and questions that we had. In His Service did not respond to my request. A company named “In His Service” should be answering to a higher calling or change their name! We paid an additional $623 to another landscaper to correct and improve their mistakes and to improve the overall quality and long term maintenance we requested from the beginning. I am disappointed in their work ethic and would not recommend them for any similar landscaping needs.
