Mister Sparky is not recommendable. I'm by no means a newbie to home improvements and the particulars of electronic connections. I was having a pool constructed in the back yard and the original cable that was installed by the construction company was in the way. All I needed to have done was connect a new set of cables (4 of them - granted approx 100 ft of cables each strand) to replace the one that would be removed. The conduit that would circumvent the pool was already installed. You could argue that the hard work was already done. All they had to do was pull the new cables through the conduit and connect them to the junction box on both ends. 1-hour of work by my estimation ( at the most!). And only one person is necessary to do this job. All of this was explained by phone before they arrived and illustrated to the two technicians when they arrived. When the technicians received all of their ?recommendations? and/or instructions from their main office about the price to quote me, they told me it would cost $4000 . I was floored. When I asked them for details, they went through a lost of things that I didn't need nor asked for. I feel that this was such an abuse of trust and made me feel as though they were trying to take advantage of me. After some back and forth about quoting me only what I needed, they landed on a $1700 quote but even that wasn't descriptive of the job that I asked them to do. So I lost all confidence in them and dismissed them. I suggest you stay away from them. They seem to have unethical practices. To boot, I contacted their office to voice my concerns and they said thanks for the feedback and that a manager would likely contact me for more info or to see if something else could be done. Two days later... I haven't been contacted by anyone.

I had a wonderful experience with Hunter and TJ at Mister Sparky. They really made my birthday week when it initially started off terribly. I had another electrician schedule 5 weeks prior to come to my home and install landscape uplighting. This happened to be on my birthday and unfortunately they did not show up on time and did not reach out to reschedule until 5 hours later. I had rearranged my plans for the day specifically to accommodate this appointment. On a whim, the following morning I put in my home advisor request and Mister Sparky called right away. Hunter was at my home within 2 hours and not only did we work together to find an affordable package/price, but he installed my lighting THAT SAME DAY! I am so very pleased with their work, their efficiency, and their clear education on the products used and the warranties provided.

The breaker to my pool pump tripped and wouldn't turn back on. I had a guy coming to check the pump motor but wanted an electrician to check the breaker. I wound up having 2 techs from Mr Sparky come here so will review each of them. The first guy, Robert, was supposed to give us a free estimate for fixing the problem if it was electrical. He pulled the AC breaker and said it was burned, but didn't pull the pump breaker. Said he had no idea why the pump breaker wouldn't turn on. Then he charged me $167 for 'diagnostics' which consisted of looking at the wires to the for pump switches, removing the pump motor end cap to look at those wires, and opening the stone catcher basket (no idea why). Back inside, the pump breaker DID turn on, but again, he didn't know why. Turned the pump on but it shut off - twice. Then he sat at my table tapping on his tablet and ignoring me for 10-15 minutes as I stood there with my credit card, waiting to pay the $167. Finally he showed me 3 options on his tablet; one to replace all the breakers and 2 choices for installing a new breaker box outside, pricing up to $10K. We passed... When he left I looked at the troubleshooting manual for the pool pump. It said if the motor shuts off check for low voltage or power drop. So I called their office, explained the situation, and tried to get Robert to come back to check the voltage at the pump. Robert called me back but refused to come back. When the office called later to see if I was happy with the service I explained it all and they scheduled another tech, Chris, to come the next day. Chris was very polite, respectful and professional. He checked the voltage at the pump (which was fine) and agreed we should replace the old breakers and add a surge protector, but said there was no need to spend $10K to put the breaker box outside. He said the AC breaker was not burned, but he did see evidence of old wires causing arcing as well as the wrong size breaker in one spot, and pointed out that we should have 2 ground rods outside besides grounding to the water main. (Robert never mentioned these) Chris did a much more thorough job of checking everything and it was all included in the $167 I had already paid. The difference between these two techs was such that I actually wondered if it was a "good cop/bad cop" ploy so I would believe what the "good" guy said and happily purchase service from him. If it was, it worked. We had Chris come back to replace all the old breakers, install a surge protector, and put in the grounding rods. Total cost was a little over $3K. As for appointment times.. The first appointment was set for 2-6 pm and they said the tech would call to let me know when he was on his way, which he did. The second appointment was 12-4 pm but he didn't call ahead, saying his ipad wouldn't let him make the call. The third appointment was supposed to be afternoon also but the email I received gave the time as 8 am - 6 pm. I called their office and the guy I spoke with said he'd add a note that I wouldn't be home until 2 pm. So with no call ahead of time I was surprised when Chris and his helper came to my door at noon. Not a big issue (as it would have been if they'd arrived at 8 am) but good to note if scheduling is important to you. The office staff is very friendly and makes you feel as though customer satisfaction is a high priority. I didn't bother having another company come out to give me a quote so I can't say whether their pricing was high, low or average. But at least I know we have all new breakers now plus proper grounding and a surge protector, and I feel confident that Chris did all the work properly. Overall, I would have given Mr Sparky a 1 star rating based on my experience with Robert, and still deducted one star across the board because of him. But if Chris had been the only tech ...

The work was heavily overpriced and I believe was ultimately unnecessary as I later found in the garage (where the electricians were working) the GFCI reboot for the exterior front and back that had been installed when my house was built. I am very disappointed I was recommended and did agree to $860 of potentially unnecessary electrical work. I will never use or recommend Mister Sparky to anyone. Additionally, your electricians attempted to sell $2,300 of electrical work that was not needed. I declined that effort.

I felt safe with the man that came to the house. They called ahead and a picture of the service person was on the call, so I could see who he was before he got here. That s important for people that live alone or are older. Very prompt and completed assignment quickly . The price was a bit high, but worked with me to get it down to where I could afford the service. Thank you
