John came out a few days after I called to measure for the estimate and I received it later that day. He told me how long it would take to get the windows and the permit and kept me informed throughout the process. The crew that came out to do the job was great and did a perfect job that was confirmed by the inspector. They replaced four windows, one large picture window with 2 sliding windows on either side and 3 smaller windows and sent someone out to test for lead paint soon after we hired them. They came when they said they would, were extremely professional and we're very happy with the results.

I purchased a new home that required all new storm windows. Atlantic Armor was my first estimate. He quoted $28,000 while he was at the house saying he liked to err on the high side. When I cam into the showroom the amount had gone up to $32,000. I was very clear that I was on a budget and asked repeatedly if there were any areas of the service or product where we could shave costs. The final written estimate was over $37,000. I got four other estimates - two from Angie's List recommendations and two from friend's recommendations - and they all came in with the same product plus install and permit costs for $24,000 give or take $500. Needless to say I did not go with Atlantic Armor and my windows are great, high quality PGT windows.

Hi Anne-Marie, I can't be sure what any other companies quoted since you initially wanted pricing for the more expensive casement windows. I prefer not to give pricing until I can calculate the exact sizes, but since you asked for a rough verbal estimate while I was there I gave you a guesstimated price before running exact numbers. It was nice to meet you and wish you the best, but my rough estimate that you asked for was just that. Congratulations on your new home, and have a happy holiday.

We decided to hire Atlantic Armor to replace one sliding glass door, two half circle windows and one front door with side light, all with impact glass. We were looking for a company that would not only do a great job but also make us feel comfortable with working in our home all day while we were at work. We could not be happier with our decision. John the owner is a pleasure to work with. He keeps you informed at all times throughout the project. The work crew led by Chris was very professional and personable and did an excellent job. We had some water damage around the sliding glass door and it was a plus that they were able to replace and finish the damaged drywall. We could not be happier from the start to the finish of this project. We highly recommend Atlantic Armor to anyone looking to replace or update windows and doors in their home.

John came out and made all the measurements and e-mailed the estimate to me the same day. When all the windows and doors arrived Atlantic Armor set up a time for installation that fit my requirements. The job was completed in three days. The inspection occurred the following day without problems. Everyone at Atlantic Armor was very professional. I could not be any happier with all the work they provided. Excellent company to work with.

The estimate process was fine. However, I never received a quote. The business card they left did not have the gentleman's name who performed the estimate. I called the main office and explained the issue that I hadn't received an estimate. They took down my name and number and promised they would figure it out. They never called back. 2 months later - no quote.

Hi [Member name removed], Kevin tried to contact you by several times in July and wasn't able to reach you at the number you left our office when you called. We did both speak about your project. I wish we could assist you, but the window that is half in the attic and the rotten wood would require a general contractor to address those concerns. Feel free to call us with any questions. Thank you

I requested an estimate for this project, which was basically just upgrading the front entry door to one that is impact resistant. I then decided to change all of the hardware on the exterior doors to the house as part of the project. I called the company and was able to schedule an appointment for the estimate within a few days. John (main rep for the company) arrived on time and was extremely professional. We discussed the project (door and change of hardware); I felt comfortable asking a lot of questions and did not feel pressure to commit to a purchase. He emailed me the estimate within a day and although it was a bit above my estimated budget for this project, I decided to accept the bid. There were cheaper alternatives, but not with the same attention to detail and customer service as Atlantic Armor. They handled every detail including permitting. Once the door and hardware came in, we scheduled the install appointment. There were three installers working on the project. They were all extremely polite and very professional. I remember being impressed that they took extreme care to place plastic sheeting around the entry door area to minimize the dust and debris that might spread into the living room. They also were very careful about cleaning up after the install. Everything went very smoothly. They did an excellent job patching the exterior stucco where the frame had to be removed. There was a problem with one of the door knobs (manufacturing problem), so we had to schedule an additional day for the installers to return and fix the door knob. Also, I also noticed after the main install that one of the deadbolt locks was going the opposite way from the rest of the deadbolts. When Kris returned to fix the faulty door knob, he checked it and realized it was installed upside down (which he then fixed). So, perhaps the only downside was that one less experienced installer not realizing he installed the bolt in the wrong direction. Overall, I was extremely happy with this provider. They are responsive, professional, and do excellent work. I recommend this company without any hesitation.

Let me start by saying that Atlantic Armor is one of the best and most professional companies I have ever delt with. John and his staff were professional and went above and beyond to ensure that my wife and I were satisfied. Anthony, who led the installation, and his team were always on time and always made sure that we were happy with the job. The product is exceptional and the installation was great. I would recommend Atlantic Armor to anyone considering adding new doors or windows!

Relied on Angie's List review to choose this company, we are glad that we did the right thing. John is very knowledgable and patience in answering all questions and concerns. His crew members were excellent, professional and on time. They are right on schedule, something that is rare to find around here. We are happy with the results and feel the difference immediately after the installation - a lot less noise (we live nearby major highway) and cool (UV laminated layers are really helpful). The estate door is fabulous, love to see it every time. Thanks John (and your crew)! Keep up your good work!

I called John (the owner) to find out the procedure for getting a torn screen replaced. I sent him pictures of the screen. John advised he would get back to me when he heard from the manufacturer. This was during the holidays. John kept in touch with updates. When the screen came in he called and advised I wouldn't need to be at home and he would put it in from the outside. He emailed me a picture showing this was done and a follow up message. John and his employee's have always been great to deal with. Very prompt and professional. I highly recommend him.

. I was unable to rate this company on all of the elements for an obvious reason-no written estimate received. We had bids from two other viable companies thus I didn't pursue . Update 2-11-14 After posting my review, I received a call from the company, indicating that the individual who completes the estimates had been ill and hospitalized, thus explaining why promised estimate had not been sent to us. I received the estimate the same day, and therefore changed my review. The estimate was a little higher than the others received, but seemed fair. I have no doubt, based upon other reviews that this company would have done a good job. However, we had already selected another company.
Description of Work: We set up an appointment so that we could obtain an estimate for the replacement of 8 windows with an impact resistant model. The estimator was on time for the appointment, took measurements, and prior to leaving advised us that we would receive an written estimate. To date, we have not received the estimate.

This company is extremely professional and customer service oriented through every step of the process. The owner personally came out to our home to conduct an estimate assessment. Then, he followed up exactly when he said he would. I always knew what to expect and someone was always available to answer my questions/return my calls (thanks, Jacque!). The service men who came out to the home were also extremely professional and polite. They were the kind of people I would trust in my home if I weren't there. They were running a bit behind, but gave me a courtesy call to let me know they would be on their way. Their work was impeccable and better than I expected (even though the owner had already set the bar quite high). The best part about working with Atlantic Armor is that they followed up with me a few days after the installation. They just wanted to make sure we didn't have any questions and that the door worked out nicely. They also personally thanked us for using them. I have worked with a lot of companies and have never felt so appreciated as a customer. These people are incredibly genuine and they are a pleasure to deal with. We would use them for EVERY job (flooring, painting, etc.) if they provided the service, but we will definitely have them do window/door work for us in the future. Their quality, customer service, and professionalism is so refreshing and should make this company extremely successful!

The job couldn't have gone better. Our windows needed to be replaced. They were the originals - just single pane throughout, and they leaked during mild rainstorms. We'd been through other types of jobs with contractors that did not go well, so we were really careful about selecting a company to replace all our windows. We researched for almost a year, starting with a local window company, then Home Depot and Lowes. Home Depot and Lowes were ridiculous and they subcontract all their work out. We ended up getting estimates from about 4 or 5 of the top rated local window companies on Angie's List. The estimates varied widely. Think the lowest was just over $20k, and the highest was almost $80k. We looked at a variety of window manufacturers - PGT, CGI, Eastern, and even WinDoor (the priciest by far). WinDoor was overkill, we don't live on oceanfront property. After actually seeing some of the windows, we were less and less impressed with PGT. The construction just didn't seem as sturdy as some of the other manufacturers, though their price was similar. We heard awful things about Eastern. So we went with CGI. John, the owner at Atlantic Armor was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He helped educate us about the different kinds of windows, what frames to roll with (Aluminum is best in this So FL heat), and the overall scope of the job. His price was not the lowest. Frankly it was one of the highest. We also knew going into the job that quality and experience are as important as cost, if not more important, and that's why Atlantic Armor won our business. Their professionalism, experience, and knowledge about what they do and how to do it well make them stand heads and shoulders above their peers. It took about a month from start to finish. Their crew couldn't have been better. They were on time and did exactly what they planned to do. The Atlantic Armor crew doesn't just rip out windows and drop new ones in. They made sure our frames were in good shape, made any repairs to the frames before putting windows/sliders in, and even fixed the drywall afterwards. The only thing they don't do is paint, and John was clear about that from the onset. We have a different, better, and more secure home thanks to the team at Atlantic Armor. We can honestly say that the investment was worth every dollar, and would recommend John and his team in a heartbeat.

We wanted to replace our windows and doors with hurricane impact rated materials and obtained quotes from several companies. Ultimately, we selected Atlantic Armor. We are extremely happy with our decision and windows/doors. Atlantic Armor was professional and skilled from the start of the job to the end of the job. The owner of the company came out to the house and met with me (in a prompt and timely manner) to discuss the project. He answered many questions and took measurements. From there he offered the opportunity to view the various products first hand at his facility. Once the contract was signed, Atlantic Armor ordered all of the materials and took care of the permits. During the installation Atlantic Armor made sure that I was informed and satisfied with the progress each day. The installation crew installed all the materials without any issues and cleaned up everyday.

Very friendly people. The sales rep was very knowable about the type of the doors we wanted. We visited the showroom to see the actual type of door that was needed to meet the Hurricane Impact requirements. They performed all the required paperwork needed to perform the work (engineering drawing and permits). The Sliding door was a special size so it had to be made at the factory but we where informed at all times how things where progressing along. The permits seemed to take longer than it should have. We got a call on the 26th of May the installation would start May 30th at 9 AM. They where on time after introducing everyone the work started. They moved the furniture, rugs and anything else that would be the way of the work. Plastic sheeting was place on everything to protect it from the dust. At the end of the 1st day they vacuumed the floors put the furniture back in place. Cleaned up all the construction material boxes, removed old doors etc. and said they would be back at 9 AM next day. Next the door bell rang at 9 AM and the work started, at the end of the second day it was finished. To including plastering around the door frames to match what was all ready there. After I painted the new plaster you can't tell where the old work ended and the new starts. A very excellent job.

John came to our condo and after looking over the existing windows provided us with options. We went with the CGI windows. They were a little more money but a better quality. The door was made by Plastpro. After reviewing these products on the websites I knew we made a good choose. The windows are made locally so the turn around time was only four weeks. After John took some rough measurements he went to his car to prepare a estimate. To my surprise he not only provided the estimate by had a detailed proposal that had all the window and door information. Size, material etc. John was very accommodating in regards to completing the paperwork my condo home owners association required in addition to getting me the necessary forms that I needed to sign so he could pull needed permits. John was very good about responding to my emails and keeping me updated. On the day of installation Patrick called to let me the work crew was running a little late. When Bob and Frank arrived they got right to work. They were both professional and were respectful of our home. Before beginning any work they took the time to cover up the furniture and floors near the windows. I was surprised when they completed removing and installing 8 windows. Prior to leaving they made sure to clean up and remove all material. The next day they were back and Jason joined them. The three of them worked very well and efficiently. You could tell they've worked together. They were very meticulous to make sure the windows were installed correctly. Jason and Bob took the time needed to install the patio door correctly. The guys weren't in a hurry. Frank went thru and caulked the windows inside and out and repaired some areas were the stucco was chipped. When they were done they cleaned up and went so far as to wash off the patio. The building inspector came the following day and didn't hesitate to sign off on the job. John wasn't able to make it to the site as he was under the weather. However he took the time to call and be sure I was satisfied with the job and to thank me. I am overall very satisfied and wouldn't hesitate using them again. Thanks John, Patrick, Bob, Frank and Jason. Great job.

Patrick, what has happened to the humane interaction' factor, shaking hands, building trust and professionalism ? Home improvement is inherently a project-based activity, in which time, quality and budget are associated with one-time relationship between the contractor and the owner. This kind of relationships, if you haven't realize it yet, are often built upon on a short-term trust factor that can be developed during a one on one meeting not via a phone call. I understand you are a very busy contractor, but if you just called to meet Angie's List's criteria, then I don't appreciate you abusing my time. I decided to not give my business to a contractor who literally refused to come over to assess the scope of work and insisted in compiling a proposal based on our phone conversation and what I "believe" should be done. Keep in my mind, I am lady who doesn't know nothing about construction, and the project involves the replacement of 7 exterior doors including widening the openings. So how were you going to generate a proposal based on virtual dynamics is beyond my comprehension. what I learned during my 26 years experience as a real estate investor is that the expertise and integrity of a particular contractor is evaluated by their professionalism. Never underestimate the importance of getting off to a good start, and how much the first impression can be favorable. UPDATE Non sir, it sounds like you are confusion me with someone else. I don't own condos and this wasn't about a condo, so get your facts straight. Instead of getting defensive about it and attacking me and falsely jutified your failure to meet basic reputable contractor standards and my expectations, you need to look at it objectively, recognize what you did wrong, learn from it and understand why your actions were the wrong thing to do. I hope you appreciate my feedback and accept it as constructive and lesson learned, otheriwse it will be a waste of my time, and I decided to move on.

Response from ATLANTIC ARMOR INC.- IMPACT WINDOWS & IMPACT DOORS
Hi [removed member name], It seems you contacted many different contractors on behalf of your condo association to get pricing for your condo's door project and have us confused with someone else. I was in the office with Patrick when he spoke with you in length to discuss your project shortly after you first contacted us. When we called you again in the next few days to discuss options and pricing you said you were too busy and would call us when you had time. The next day you entered these comments. I understand if you decided to use another contractor and wish you the best with your project.
