Popcorn Acoustic Ceiling Texture - Apply, Repair or Remove
The owner Anthony is a nice, pleasant guy but Randy who worked on our popcorn ceiling removal and repair was consistently rude and condescending. Each time he came back to our house to work on the repairs, he complained and even no-showed twice. The company offers a year warranty for anything that goes wrong. Unfortunately, our issues are still ongoing and no solution has been found, so the warranty means nothing. I wouldn?t waste your time or money on this company.

Quality Ceiling did a terrible job repairing a ceiling crack in my living room. They attempted the repair three times and each time did damage to other areas in my home. The crack is still visible and I now have spray paint on my front door, railings and balusters, damage to my railing where the paint hose wore a divot in it, and primer stains on my driveway, I was promised that the damage to my front door, railing, balusters and driveway would be repaired but almost 6 months later I am still waiting for these items to be repaired. We are both seniors, my husband a veteran and we feel like we were misled and cheated out of our hard earned money.

I originally had this company a year and 5 months ago and Mike did the repair work on my ceiling. The nail pops were worse after he finished and the seam he taped started to peel. Anthony said it might be structural and quoted me a price . The awesome team sent to fix it, Pablo and Davud, felt that it wasn't structural but rather just delaminating and maybe not primed last time. I went around and around with Anthony about this and finally spoke to John and Lisa who were more sympathetic to the situation. I am giving a good review because of my interaction with Pablo, David, Lisa, and John, not on the original work done. I only hope the ceiling fix lasts this time.

Had the popcorn ceilings removed in our house and then retextured and painted. For the most part the crews did a good job with what they had to work with. Our unhappiness concerns Anthony who gave us the quote and was our contact with the company. When we first set up the estimate appointment, he gave me a window of 8:30a to 11a to be at our house. Soon after I agreed to that, I realized that I had an early morning doctor's appointment and would not be at the house before 10a. When I called him back to inform him of this, I got his voice mail, left him a message, and when he called me back he said that coming after 10a would not be a problem. On the day of the appointment, he showed up at 8:30a (luckily my wife was home) and denied that we ever talked and changed the time. When the crew showed up to start the work, they showed me their paperwork that indicated that they were only to do the inside ceilings and not also our patio ceiling. Turns out that Anthony had crossed it off their papers even though I had an electric confirmation from the company that said the patio was included. When I talked to him, he also had confusion as to what texture we wanted to have on our ceilings and whether or not they would be able to do the patio work (they eventually did do it on the third day with a different crew). When the crews had completed their work and were packing up to leave, I asked them who was going to replace the A/C vent covers and can lights that they had removed to do their work. They said that it couldn't be done for 3 days and that someone from their company would be out to do this task. I waited a few days and then texted Anthony when I didn't receive a call to schedule this work. His reply was that they don't replace these items and who told me that they would. I responded back that since they took them down, they should be responsible for putting them back. He indicated that he would get back to me. When he didn't respond for a day, I sent him another text asking for an update, I got a response asking what reinstalls? I tried to politely to tell him to read the previous text I had sent him as all the details were there. He finally indicated that he would have to check the crew's schedule and would be getting back with me. The following Monday I still hadn't heard back from him so I texted him again and he said give him to the end of the day to figure something out. Finally Tuesday afternoon he responded that someone would be there Thursday afternoon. Thursday afternoon came and went with no one from the company showing up so on Friday morning, I reinstalled all of the items that the company had taken apart. Luckily I am somewhat handy and could do so. Some of my ceilings are 12' tall so not all of reinstalls were easy. Others may have had to hire somebody else to do this work that should have been done by Quality. Another issue was that Anthony did not warn us about the fumes generated by this process. The crew indicated that they should subside within an hour of two with all the windows and doors open but strong fumes lingered for a couple of days after the process was completed. Luckily my wife was out of town that week and did not have to endure this issue. Anthony's communication and customer service skills need a lot of improvement. Would only rehire because crews did a good job. The company needs to do something about Anthony's communication skills.

Quality fixed our ceilings 3 weeks ago ( remove popcorn ceilings ) and did an AMAZING job. The crew was very professional and careful, I can not thank enough to Anthony for everything, I would highly recommend this company, they are totally the experts, my house looks beautiful, thank you again.

Worked on neighbor’s condo with nobody home. Left multiple white paint shoe prints on walkway and stairs, plus white paint handprints on rail. Asked crew member to clean before departure, and he said “sure”. Nothing was done. Called office, and got promise of crew returning to clean. Not done. Left absolute mess on outside of job.

We used Anthony Pesce from Quality Finishes to repair/replace popcorn ceiling in our garage. The work was over priced and inadequate. To add insult to injury, the technicians dragged their trailer against our mailbox and damaged it. Despite repeated requests by phone and text to Anthony and repeated confirmations on his part that he would pay the handyman who had to fix the damage, he has not paid for the repairs. I discourage anyone from using this careless, irresponsible vendor.

It was done on a Saturday. They went really fast and hurried the job up. They didn?t get the ceiling taped off and made it drip all around. They also did not wait for the knockdown to dry. When I complained about the paint dripping they said that we should get matching paint and repaint it ourselves. They were also supposed to do some caulking around the Lanai, and that if we went in and got the caulk they would re-caulk all the cracks in the Lanai. Which they did not do. They said that they would come back later to do that. We waited for 3 days for them to come and the never did. We have seen previous jobs that he had done and they were done wonderfully. So there are three rooms that have this line from where the paint went. The person really thought that we should be the ones to fix the problems and that it wasn't their job to fix it. As they only do the ceiling and nothing else.

Under the pretense that Quality Ceiling would do another good job, we rehired them. The main living room, dining room and kitchen newly completed, ceiling work by Quality looks good except for the edges are needing much tidying up/clean up work. The outer rooms have much to desire with below average results. On day 2, a Quality worker was overheard stating, "... the back room [master bedroom] looks like **** [crap]"!! Viewed at night with a 60 watt light bulb, one could see some of which the worker's observation. With brighter daylight and the plastic down, the ceiling in deed does look like "****" [crap]! It includes but is not limited to poor edges, additional painting needed, heavy troweling, trowel gouges and trowel scraping lines. And with much regret, our experience also included but was not limited to: Work crew showing up late, the lead crew person reported suffering from a bad back and was on site both days and reported he was unable to do the job correctly, crew reporting they did not have what they needed to complete the job correctly [e.g. taller ladders for 14"+ ceilings], two high pressure hose equipment breaks resulted in significant delay of work progress both days and ceiling construction materials being sprayed on this owner's property AND on my neighbor's property AND the gated golf club community property [not being cleaned up by the crew but left for this owner], broken home owner's property [e.g. bathroom fan, closet light & lamp, shelving, 2 large holes in walls by workers], and much more. NOTE: Quality repaired the damaged walls but left this owner to deal with their over spray on walls, trim and carpet as well as needing to prime and paint the aforementioned walls. And, their damage included ceiling materials and paint left on covered personal clothing, doors frames and hardware, more. Quality crew clean up inside and out was marginal at best if not poor. We as homeowners helped with the clean up inside our home because much was being missed or cleaned poorly. Outside clean up was very poor requiring this homeowner to pressure wash what I was able to wash with mixed results. We are hoping the ceiling materials will wash away with future rainfalls and by the grass growing out and getting cut numerous times. This owner communicated the aforementioned with the the Quality's owner's son numerous times with mixed results [receiving "perceived" patronizing from the son more times than not]. The owner's son did show up briefly day 2 during evening hours to help his crew since they were way behind and it was night time [he reported the ceilings were "perfect"]. In good faith, I paid him before the completion of the job of which I regret paying for the job before job review in full daylight. The son was contacted with all aforementioned information by text and subsequent phone call the day after job completion. The son stated, "... I'll call you right back." He never did call back but the check I wrote cleared that day.

During the project I  keep pointing out some issues and they kept saying once it's painted and dried it will appear even. After the project was complete and dried, it was very uneven. I let the owner know my dissatisfaction. First he did not reply to my email, when I finally got a hold of him over the phone he said he would like to come look at the work. He never showed up or returned my calls.

"So sorry to hear this. I tried to go to this customers home. I called her on my way, she answered and said she would be home. When I arrived she wasn't there. I left my card in her door to contact me for another time to meet with her. I would also like to mention that this was a kitchen with approx. 80 to 90 sq. ft of cement ceiling. She wanted smooth texture. I did mention to her that since the ceiling is cement it may not appear entirely smooth but that we will do our best. This is why I wanted to go and look at the work. I will reach out to her again and hopefully make her happy. If I don't reach her she is welcome to contact me anytime to schedule a convenient time to meet."

I have never given a company a bad review before, but this was unfortunately a disaster. Upon first glance, the work looked great. About 2-3 weeks later, the tape seams and several cracks started showing.

  • It took multiple phone calls (3 or 4) to get a date for repairing the work they had done. Anthony does not return calls.
  • They came at the wrong time -- had to reschedule. More calls to Anthony.
  • They came again on the new date -- but at the wrong time -- and luckily I anticipated it this time. They taped off everything nicely, and again the repairs looked good.
  • Two DAYS LATER, we had tape seams again, worse than before, and the plaster started falling off. This revealed that all they did was put up more plaster to cover the cracks and seams. They told us they would cut out the bad parts. They did not.
  • We tried to get them back out -- more calls!!! Anthony said he would come take a look. He no-showed and did not call or anything. We even offered to pay more money to get things done properly.
  • Like others, we had to hire someone else to scrape off their plasterwork, put more screws in the new ceiling (which was not secured properly in the first place), cut out and insert new sheetrock in places, and retexture everything.

This company's errors cost us about $1500 to fix -- which includes the now-trashed 4 coats of paint we put on the ceiling, new paint and the fees to the other contractor. Not to mention the hours of labor it will take to repaint the entire ceiling. Extremely disappointing, and at this point, no written response to this review will undo the damage done.

This company did a lousy job. They said I would have "minor touch ups" to the paint when they were done.  They slopped texture all over my walls which cost me $500 to repair.  They promised to caulk all the paint lines and leave me clean paint lines.  They did not caulk and left an absolute mess.
I warned them I had new wood floors and that I wanted them protected during the job.  They promised they would take care of my wood floors and cover them in plastic.  I told them plastic  alone would not protect the floors from dents, gouges and scratches.   Needless to say, they only covered them with plastic and left $300 of damage to my floors.  They tried to blame it on other contractors but the other contractors were only in the kitchen where there is only tile floors.  No other contractors were on the wood floors.
They refused to take responsibility for their broken contract, their lousy work or their damage to my home.  They tried to blame everyone else for their shoddy work and even tried to blame me for rescheduling the job, like that gave them a reason for lousy work.  Don't let these people anywhere near your ceiling, walls and especially your wood floors!

Response from Quality Ceiling Refinishing Inc
"This customer had several contractors in the home performing work. When Anthony went to look at the customers concerns the customer had different colored tape throughout the home identifying which contractor was responsible for the "damage". When we went to the home to address the issues this customer was very difficult to deal with. When Anthony offered to have our technicians return to caulk paint lines the customer used foul language and refused for us to go back into his home. He states in his review that we slopped texture all over his walls. We have never, in 40 years, slopped texture. Our work is not shoddy as stated. Although, we are sorry this customer isn't happy, and we offered to go back and fix areas, I'm not quite sure what else to do as he refused to allow us back into his home. As far as the wood floors are concerned we did not do any damage to the floors."

?Quality? Ceiling Refinishing is anything but! They promise you clean work, quick in-and-out service, and a reasonable price.
In reality, in my case, they removed the popcorn ceiling but also damaged my walls by tearing not only the paint but the textured drywall down about 1-5? the walls. I have photos to prove it. We hired them to do 3 ceilings. The first day, they worked on 2 ceilings. The next day, we asked them to re-do the work because of so much yellowing and bleed through. They did. Then they did the third ceiling. They assured me the last ceiling (which was, unfortunately not quite dry yet when I paid in full) would not need a second coat of paint. Well, by the next day, it became clear that yes, it would need another coat.
When I called back to tell Anthony, he told me to just hire my wall painters to repair their work and to finish the job. He said he?d pay me back the cost to have the painters do it. When I told him the price of the job, he refused to pay anything! There were SO MANY THINGS THAT WERE DAMAGED while they were working here (scratched teak-wood staircase, texture goo on the ceiling fans, light fixtures, and a/c vents, and ruined drywall) There was NO WAY we wanted them back in there to fix the mess they?d already made. We ended up hiring someone else to fix and finish the job they promised to do.
I DO NOT recommend them. (Check out their BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU reports, there are many dissatisfied customers.)
Response from Quality Ceiling Refinishing Inc
"We create a tented bubble when removing/replacing texture. Unfortunately, when we remove the visqueen paint may pull from the walls. This is stated in our contract so our customers are aware of this. Although our contract states we aren't responsible for this we still will go and touch up the areas. This customer refused. Also, if yellowing occurs after we leave we also will go back and paint. This customer refused this as well. Yellowing will sometimes occur for many reasons. We don't know the integrity of the old drywall so for many reasons yellowing is a possibility. Therefore, since this customer already hired painters, we purchased paint and brought it to her. As far as the comments of damage to staircase etc all I can say is we aren't the responsible party. Again, we tried to accommodate this customer with her concerns and she refused all of our attempts. Therefore, all we could do was purchase paint for her."
