On Ocober 22, 2013 we entered into a contract with Tom Parisi of A+ Decks to be build a 16' x 27' deck. At that time we gave Mr. Parisi a deposit check of $6875 which was half of the total. (Mr. Parisi's daughter was present to witness this transaction.) Mr. Parisi assured us that he was completing a job over the next few days but would obtain the necessary permits the following week. On November 6, 2013 we still had not heard from Mr. Parisi so we sent a text. He called and said he was delayed on the current job but would be going for the permits in the next few days. On November 10 with contacted Mr. Parisi with information we had on plot plans again via text. On November 15 Mr. Parisi texted that he would be a few more days on his current job but would go the following Monday and would call on Tuesday with an update. On November 18 we sent a text noting that we expected to hear from him that evening after he went for permits. After no contact, we again sent a text message on November 21, 2013 informing Mr. Parisi that we would be cancelling our contract. He acknowledged this via a text on the same day and promised to bring a cancellation document we would need to sign in order to receive our deposit. By November 29 we still had not heard from him and set another text inquiring about our deposit but received no response. On the evening of December 18 we reached Mr. Parisi by phone. He was irate that we had cancelled our and we messed up his business by doing so. He again assured us we would get our money back but when it was most convenient for him. .After several unanswered calls to Mr. Parisi, we contacted an attorney on February 3, 2014. Our attorney suggested we file a complaint with the Department of Justice but he would start the legal process by sending a letter to Mr. Parisi.
Description of Work: Failed to get the permits and start the job. Failed to refund our deposit after cancelling the contract.
