Paul Lupo did a very unprofessional job that left me drained. He originally seemed very pleasant and professional as he reassured me he would replace ceiling sheetrock around my dining room beams in a neat, professional manner. It took two days of work done by me with the help of my boyfriend to do our best to undo the problems he left. When I realized he left me with an overwhelming situation, I called him to ask him to come by. I called repeatedly, finally losing count of my attempts. Then I sent him a letter. That was over six weeks ago. He never responded at all. When he took down the plastic covering doorways, I was letdown to see messy sealant swiped along beams and bumpy areas in the ceiling. I asked him about this, and he assured me ceiling paint would smooth the lumps and he told me the excess sealant would wipe right off with water. Had that actually been the case, a homeowner should not have to do even that level of cleanup, but in fact this material is cement-like, and it took experimentation with towels, a toothbrush, a wire brush, sandpaper, and a blade to remove the excess sunk into crevices in the rustic beams. Simply taping would have prevented this. In having to use water as Paul recommended, enough stain came off the beams to warrant re-staining. Along one edge, it was impossible to remove sloppy excess without incidentally revealing an approximately 1/4 inch gap between the sheetrock and the beam so we had to use compound to fill the gap then sand. It also took a lot of sanding to smooth two bulging areas of the ceiling as much as we could, but since it would have been costly to hire another contractor (necessary to truly fix all this) there remains a 13 x 38 inch bulging band in the ceiling that is still visible after as much sanding as we could stand, plus two coats of ceiling paint. I am afraid this may be unappealing to a prospective buyer someday. Very upsetting experience.
