Richard Keith, owner of Landis Home Improvement, was involved with the project every step of the way. After asking many detailed questions, he provided us with a detailed estimate which, when we accepted it, became a detailed contract. He kept us informed every day of what was planned and of any obstacles. He and his men arrived around 8:00 AM each day, worked efficiently, and cleaned up before they left each night. When some things we asked for "exceeded the scope," he provided us with estimates before proceeding. The only delays we ran into were not his fault -- we ordered the cabinets too late, and the inspectors didn't always come on time. Richard was always professional and efficient. Any problems we noticed in our "inspection" every night, he quickly resolved the next day. He also creatively determined how to hide part of the steel beam: Instead of making it look like an eyesore, he made it look like an intentional part of the design. Even though he subcontracted the plumbing and electric work, he scheduled the plumber and electrician at the appropriate times during the project. He maintained responsibility for those aspects of the remodel and made sure we were happy with the results. We were so pleased with the work he did in the kitchen that we hired him to build a complicated deck in our backyard. He has subcontracted the masonry but takes responsibility for that work as well.
