About 2 weeks ago I reached to the back of the cooler to wipe away some dust. I barely touched it when boiling water came spewing out all over my hands and the floor. A small plastic cover on a plastic tube had totally disintegrated. There was a nearly full 5 gallon bottle on the cooler, and water kept coming. We had to wait until the hot water ran out before taking the bottle off. My husband dragged the cooler outside to finish dripping and I called the customer service number. They were apologetic and said another cooler would be delivered in two days. I asked to speak to a supervisor and expressed my concern that no one ever checks the coolers. She said most of their coolers are reconditioned, and they get old. She said the cooler we had was ready to be retired. I sent the company an email detailing what had happened and suggested that a periodic inspection of the cooler might be prudent. I also suggested that they review the material this part is made of. This could have been a terrible incident. I was lucky I was able to get out of the way quickly. I never heard a word in response to my email.
Two days later another cooler arrived. It was so loud we couldn't talk in the same room with it. I called again and was told it was a fan issue and that another cooler would be delivered. This was a Friday and the next cooler was scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday. On Tuesday the driver arrived WITHOUT a new cooler. He looked at the one making all the noise and said he'd try to come back the next day with another cooler, maybe a new one. I had made arrangements to be home to meet him and was not happy that he came without a cooler. His manager called to tell me there weren't any new coolers available so we'd get yet another refurbished one. I asked him to take the time to check this cooler out and make sure it worked properly. He assured me he would.
The next cooler arrived on a Wednesday. On Saturday I went to get hot water and ice cold water came out of the hot spigot. Ice water also came out of the cold spigot. We turned the cooler off, unplugged it, plugged it back in and turned it back on. We then waited until the next day only to find out the hot water function wasn't working. Monday morning I called Poland Spring and was told they would deliver another cooler in a couple of days. They said they would try to find a newer one if possible. I told them to come and take the cooler and cancel my contract. I have made arrangements with another company to deliver a cooler and water to me. Poland Spring is making us wait before they come and pick this cooler up. I'm really unimpressed with this company, their poor customer service, and the old equipment they give to customers.
