Since this company has been employed for Lymewood Affordable Housing, now most of the housing rules, regulations and civil rights have been violated. This project is a privately owned and federally funded Section 8 HUD Housing/USDA Housing. Over the years, this company has created an atmosphere of fear, intimidation, bullying and harassment to any tenant who questions what they are doing or not doing. EHM consistently pits one tenant against the other using the tactic of divide and conquer. EHM is guilty of refusing to correct a number of health and welfare issues that constantly jeopardizes myself and other tenants residing here. These are: 1) Unpotable, rust laden (frequently with a sulpher dioxide stench) water. 2) Refuse to protect us from contracting giardia by installing a giardia mesh within the well water system. The vectors for this parasite, deer and pet dogs, are on the grounds most of the time. My cat contracted giardia from drinking the well water. 3) Refuse to acknowledge and repair faulty electrical wiring. 4) Although the majority of the federally and the state HUD housing are smoke free, EHM refuses to implement this policy. Prior to EHM Lymewood did have no smoking on the grounds or inside the apartment. Tenants are continually exposed to secondary and tertiary smoke from a few inconsiderate smokers. These particular tenants also litter their cigarette butts throughout the grounds which are toxic to the environment. 5) Refuse to correctly eliminate insect infestations. For about four years now, Lymewood has had a coffin fly problem. Because the administrators do not use the appropriate microbiocide, residents continue to be exposed to the many diseases this fly spreads. 6) For years, residents were exposed to numerous bacterial infections and slip and fall risk due to the inundation of Canadian geese feces on the grounds and walkways. It became a huge problem because EHM allowed a tenant to ground the feed the geese and attract other wild animals to the property. Despite EHM's insurances that they were "working on it," the woman persisted in her bad behavior and suffered no consequences.\ 7) The administrator is supposed to contact me prior to the exterminator coming. He does not. This eliminates my opportunity to close my windows and leave my apartment to avoid more toxic exposure that worsens my respiratory conditions. He is also very discriminatory because a pro-administration tenant doesn't have her apartment area sprayed. 8) We at Lymewood have been without a maintenance person for 8-9 months now. No one is remedying all the maintenance problems that keep accruing. 9)Refused, for 8 years, to protect residents constantly verbally abused (and physically abused me), harassed, exposed us (and herself) to many dangers, rummaged through our mailboxes, refused to wear briefs and contaminated the common area with her defecation. She became more and more aggressive with violent tendencies. She was always exonerated and protected by EHM each and every breach despite the numerous complaints written up by myself and various residents. This extremely out-of-control situation only ceased recently when she went into a convalescence home. 10) The continued discrimination to disabled tenants under 62 years of age. For years, I suffered all kinds of discrimination not only by the mean spirited clique of tenants but also by administrators and EHM. I was excluded from many activities by the mean clique who are allowed to run things at Lymewood their way. For example, I was banned from participating in the community garden. For years, I used the laundry room only late at night to avoid nasty encounters from the clique. I was very isolated and deeply hurt. 11) For many years, the sidewalks here were in deplorable condition with the asphalt cracked into pieces making walking difficult and dangerous. About 2005, my foot was caught by a piece of loose asphalt causing me to fall. Several bones in my wrist broke requiring surgery, a plate and pins and much physical therapy. 12) Lymewood has not had a maintenance person for about 8 months now and problems are accruing. 13) On Oct. 16th, 2012, I had a considerable flood in my bathroom after Lymewood flushed out the hot water heaters. The flood entered into the hallway closet ruining a number of clothing items. This created a horrible mildew/mold stench and I found a fibrous black mold strip, about an inch wide, that went from the floor to a foot shy of the ceiling. The wet sheet-rock was never removed from both these rooms and no mold remediation was done. 14. On Feb 15th, 2014, I slipped and fell on the sheet of ice that was my walkway to my apt. As I mentioned, we were without our maintenance man and so our walkways leading to our apartment never got sanded or salted. This very bad winter, Lymewood never even provided us with the sand tubs they provided for the last two winters. From this fall, I broke my tibula and the dommallus was shifted out of position by 1/2 an inch. Again, I needed 1.5 hours of surgery and hav ea 5 inch steel plate with 9 screws in my right foot. This injury required two nights in the hospital, 4 weeks in a rehabilitation facility, two weeks of in-patient physical therapy and eight weeks of out-patient physical therapy. My entire life was interrupted, a surgery I need had to be postponed not to mention the pain and suffering I endured. 15. The absolute worst problem is the inundation of molds and fungi throughout my apartment. For 33 years since Lymewood has been built, there has been no outdoor venting of the bathroom steam. I believe the trickling down of water from the attic crawl space (where the bathroom vent goes to) is wetting the electrical wires behind the walls creating frequent zapping noises. Also, paint on the walls have buckled out from the leaks. Another problem greatly contributing to the mold/fungi spread is that the concrete slab the units are on had fissures that allowed ground water to well up in the carpeting. My apartment had a terrible mold stench, visible molds/fungi everywhere and the bedroom ceiling was completely covered in the mold/fungi. After years of constantly exposing EHM's deceit and covering up the mold problem, EHM agreed to a mold remediation. They hired Servicemaster Clean, a franchise NOT certified for mold removal. As soon as I returned to my apartment on November 19th, 2013, I found 3 mold sites and cupboards loaded with mold and fungi. All they did was paing over the mold which looks good and prevents molds to leach through in about 6-8 months which it is doing now. The company never removed the wet sheetrock, inundated ceiling, sheetrock with black soot patterns or the infested insulation behind these areas. I contacted two national agencies that certify mold remediation companies and both of them confirmed that this franchise is not certified for mold removal. I have much more evidence to prove every statement I've made. I have two mold tests, lots of photos, many eye witnesses, my own continuing mold tests, and accumulating medical records concerning my worsening respiratory system, a persistent eye infection for five years from the black molds and the antigens to the same molds found in tmy apartment in my blood. I continue to be exposed to the toxic mold/fungi, their spores, their mycotoxins, and the carcinogenic gases they emit. Because I've been very vocal and pro-active, EHM has been very punitive and retaliatory towards me. I've had to endure vandalism to my apartment, harassing phone calls and an attempt by EHM to evict me. This mismanagement company should never be hired for any housing complex. EHM needs to be investigated and put out of business. As a last note, I need to include EHM's snow removal system. Despite Lymewood being an elderly/disabled project, all residents are expected to shovel out their cars, move them to a plowed lot, and later move them back to their lot. It doesn't matter how inclement the weather is or how dangerous it is to be out there, EHM has hidden behind the false statement that Lymewood is an "independent living" complex in order to exploit tenants to do the work they should be hiring people to do. How can this be happening in such a fragile community? I cannot shovel anymore due to my worsening respiratory system. Every time snow is forecasted I have to leave and stay at a friend's house until I know the plowing is finished. This is not the way a disabled senior should be living.
Description of Work: They came to do my re-certification. An onsite administrator and a higher up administrator came over and all they did was change the batteries in the smoke detector.
