We had made an appointment with Michael Hemingway, Branch Manager, Eagle Nationwide Mortgage Company for June 4, 2009 at 4:00pm. My uncle and I had both showed up for the appoinment. He claimed with the banking commission that he had explicitly told us that he would be on vacation the same week I was supposed to close. This was a lie total lie and makes no sense. I told him I wanted this completed before my vacation. He promised me that he would be able to close quickly. He stated it would be completed within 4 to 6 week, by the first week of July 2009. He finally contacted me again in September. He ended up ruining my summer. He gave my contact information to other lenders and home insurance companies. He did not fulfill any promises. He took it upon himself to speak with my insurance agent. He told them that I had authorized him to speak on my behalf. I told him specifically that I would talk to my insurance agent about increasing the coverage. The whole experience was a nightmare. I filed a complaint with the banking commission and Hemingway wrote back claiming I was a liar. He claimed I showed up without an appointment. I made an appointment for June 4,2009, 4:00pm, I was running late and called explained that I would be 10 minutes late. We arrived around 4:10 and he spoke with us for a total of 40 minutes. He was in rush because he had to pick his son up at daycare. He claimed with the banking commission that we showed up unannouced and he spent over two hours with us. He also claimed that he has posted hours, but he does not. He used an office as prop for proof. He did not ask very many questions and it made me very uncomfortable. He guaranteed me a loan and with $20,000 down for 15 year term. He assured me as long there is value in the property that it would be no problem. He also assured me that we would close no later than July 6, 2010. The property was valued approximately $302,000, so I assumed that it would be no problem. I also put up $20,000 in savings in to reduce the term of the mortgage to 15 years and avoid an increase in the payment. He assured me that I would be able to get my savings back if I was stuck in the 30 year term. He also claimed that he told me he would be on vacation starting July 3, 2010. He made no mention that he would be on vacation. I would have insisted that we close before vacation. How can the deal close if we are not communicating. He did eventually call and told me that he was not able get phone single where he was. I contacted the wireless companies and they assured me that have strong signals in the Hamptons. He lied about everything. He was very narcisstic. He would not take calls after 4:00pm. He was not very accomodating at all. Everything was done on his schedule. He has no regards for the customers schedule. The loan was eventually denied. I would constantly ask him if there was a problem because it was taking so long. He assured me that it was no problem. He called me on July 30, 2009 to let me know that the loan was declined. It was approved June 25, 2009, but the underwriters had come back and denied the loan due to structural problems with the home. There are no problems that I know of. I had inspectors with Sussex County inspect the foundation and they found no problems either. I called Hemingway again requesting that I be returned my $20,000 since the loan did not go through. He very flippantly, wished me 'good luck' in the money back and offered no assistance. He offered constant reassurance regarding this and I had to work to get it back. He explained the underwriters felt so bad that they wanted to speak with me. They did eventually write back stating they are prohibited from speaking with me. He also claimed with the banking commission that I was a drunk and bitter from being turned down. He went on to claim that I had been denied by several other lenders after September 2, 2009. I had never applied with a single lender after that. He told me he gave my number out to other lenders to see what would happen. He lied, he did not fulfill promises, and no regard for his customers.
Description of Work: He sold me on his refinancing services.
