We hired NCSI to do the work as described above. Adam, the owner was very personable and was the lowest of the bidders we received ... now I understand why. We did tell Adam that we wanted the best work possible and if there's ever a choice between doing it cheaply or doing it better, always choose the better route. This is our home and we want it done correctly. The one thing Adam said when we first met him is that he "stands by his work" and that the actions of a man is how he deals with customers in a time of trouble. We liked that he stood behind his work. The contract we signed was to have the work completed within 60 days. Work started on time and appeared to be going well. We paid all our invoices the same day they were received and we even fronted monies for part of the work while we went on vacation. The first sign of trouble came when our new windows did not arrive. Adam said the manufacturer in California was having problems with shipping and they should be here at any time. Remember, this was during the winter and we had a whole side of our home exposed to the elements. The windows still did not arrive for about 2 1/2 months. Finally Adam said he would order them from another distributor of which they did arrive. In hind site, what I think occurs with Adam is that he uses monies from one job to pay for the next job and didn't have any money and never did order the windows until such time as he had another job and could get our windows. I only speculate on this, but other dealings with him make me think this is the case. The work then progressed nicely although we are now in month 4/5 of a 60-day project. We had also contracted to have him work on our decking on the lower patio and the upstairs decking above the downstairs patio. We desired to have the upper deck waterproofed and the lower deck aesthetically improved. The lower deck went okay, although the finish carpentry work was really shoddy and we recently had it redone by someone who took their time. I believe Adam uses cheap labor and sometimes it really shows. On the upper decking he had some plans for waterproofing the deck (I was always skeptical of the method he recommended). It continued to leak on the lower porch and each time he came out he tried to repair it with caulking. The man must own stock in the caulking industry. It's always his use for anything that leaks. I again spoke to him and explained I thought his method was not correct. He finally lamented and agreed that we should go another avenue. He told us to use a roofing company that he found and that we should contract with them and he would reimburse us ($2,800). Again, in hind site we should have had him pay for it. To this day we still have not been reimbursed and did receive a $1,000 check that bounced. He has twice told us that monies will be sent and we haven't seen anything yet. NCSI had also applied a new ceiling to the lower patio that had been ruined by the leaking of the upper decking. This was probably a good thing because whoever performed the work of applying the ceiling did a very poor job and it looked crappy. We hired someone else to complete that work for us. It now looks great ... but we are out another $1,000 that should be Adams responsibility. Then, our neighbor approached us and said he had been watching the construction of the dormer and bump-out and noticed that a vapor barrier was not applied to either (we didn't know because work was being done while we were at work). I called Adam and he said it wasn't code in Denver to apply a vapor barrier. I work for a local city and approached our building official who said "Yes, it is code". I then called Denver building who also informed me it has been code since 2006. I then called Adam who said it must be "something new". He then called out a crew who had to remove all the siding and put up the vapor barrier. Along the way, this worker noticed some shoddy workmanship and repaired it for us. We then had our first rain of the season and noticed that water was leaking through the lower bump-out. We called Adam who came over and said the window needed caulking (of course!). He did that, but upon the next rain it leaked again. At the same time I had called Denver building for a final inspection. When the inspector arrived he noticed that there were two big areas under the soffet that were exposed and that was obviously where the water was penetrating the interior. The inspector also said that no roofing permits were pulled and that the 'three-tab' shingles that were used were not adequate for the slope of our roof. I called Adam and asked why a roofing permit was not pulled and informed him of what the inspector had told me. Adam did hire a roofing contractor who came over and applied the correct roof and covered the two holes in the siding. It appears to be waterproof. I then called Denver Building who came out three additional times to inspect the work and each time found something wrong with the work that needed to be correct. Remember, all this time we are 100% paid to NCSI on our job that is now in its 9th month of construction for a 2 month job. About the only good thing to come out of this is that we found a very good handyman construction guy named Ted who was a sub for Adam and did the new re-siding of the bump-out and dormer. We have hired him a few times now to do work for us and while he is not the fastest worker in the world, he does great work and is reasonably priced. We finally have received our final inspection and all seems to be well with the work. But we are still owed over $1,800 plus the $1,000 we paid for the new ceiling. Adam will not return our calls or texts and his check bounced. Our last conversation with him ended with "I will pay you the money when I have it" ... I wonder what he would say if his next customer told him the same thing? If I would have known that Adam and NCSI cannot be trusted and do shoddy work, obviously, I would have never have hired them and put us through this mess. At this point, we just want our money owed to us and get Adam out of our lives. Until then BE WARNED OF ADAM NETA AND NCSI.

Adam Neta, the owner/contractor, is a charming and well spoken person. We trusted him immediately and were very happy with his ideas. We signed a contract for work to be performed within 60 days. I paid every invoice within hours and we cooperated on every aspect of the project. Unfortunately, the job took over 8 months and failed to meet code repeatedly. As soon as I paid the final invoice (which I should not have done until the job passed inspection) he put us on the backburner and stopped following through with repairs that needed to be made because the job was not up to code. Windows leaked, gutters were not installed properly. Siding was installed without vapor barrier and had to be torn off and re-done. Our house was torn open in the coldest part of winter (January - March) because he didn't order the windows, even though I pre-paid them in December of 2012. The roof shingles were incorrect and allowed water to leak through. The deck he installed was supposed to be watertight but leaked from day one. The new ceiling underneath was destroyed. He promised (in writing) to refund the cost of the deck ($2,780) so that we could have it re-done by a qualified contractor but after I paid the additional contractor, he failed to provide the refund as promised. He failed to communicate with us and basically stopped taking our calls. He didn't check on his subcontractors work either. I have now had to file complaints to try to get my refund which I've been waiting for now for 3 months. I paid nearly $4,000 to have the deck redone based on his promise of a refund. I also paid $1,000 to have a new ceiling put in because of the leaking. Calls are unanswered. Emails not responded to. This has been a nightmare and I'm very sorry about how everything has turned out. I just wish he had responded in a timely manner and kept his word instead of ignoring me and making excuses. I understand that mistakes are made - it's how you handle them that defines you. I mean really, I should not have to file a complaint with the BBB to get him to respond.
Description of Work: I hired NCSI to perform some major remodeling on my house. He installed a dormer upstairs, a bump-out downstairs, a new deck and other assorted improvements.
