Easy to work with. No hard sells, which I appreciate. The prices are fair and competitive. Overall excellent.
Description of Work: This is the second time I have used Stellar and I will continue to use them. The first time they did the entire house, this time it was trim touch up.

The project went very smoothly from start to finish. Jack came out to provide an estimate and was very detailed, and also offered suggestions make the space more useful for us overall. From beginning to end Jack was easy to reach and communicated with us regularly. We were expecting the work to be done in November/December time frame but Jack was able to squeeze our project into their schedule much earlier - 2 months earlier for the same estimate. 2 guys did all the work. They were professional, polite and worked quickly without compromising quality. When paying by the hour this is very much appreciated! They kept us updated on their progress throughout each day so there were no surprises. We had contacted several other businesses who would not take on a project they considered to small. We appreciate that with Stellar they treated our project with the same quality and professionalism that I imagine they give to a much higher end project. The final invoice was well under the estimate. From the first visit to get an estimate, through demolition to completion, Stellar did an amazing job. We never felt like we were being 'sold' to or talked into things that were not necessary. Jack provided guidance and suggestions to keep costs down, and improve on what we had envisioned. We highly recommend this team and will most definitively use them again for future projects.
Description of Work: We had a small basement remodeling project completed by Stellar. A wall was knocked down to expand the size of the family room into what was a hobby type room with a closet and built in cabinets/countertop/drawars. After the wall came down the electrical outlets had to be moved and the drop ceiling had to be patched and turned to match the rest of the family room. The floating floor was ripped out in preparation to lay carpet. We also had the area that used to hold a 1 ton boiler finished to be used as a storage area. This involved framing/drywall, and pouring a new cement floor. A new frame and doors were also installed. And we had a doorway closed in from the office to the laundry room to give us more wall space.

They were very good and he was prompt and on time. He was nice and helpful. At the time I thought he was a little on the pricey side but now that I've received more estimates and done research, he was probably on target. I ended up going with a referral from a co-worker. I don't have anything bad to say about him, we just went with someone else. I would recommend him and I know he is popular.

Stellar provided stellar communications (pun intended), throughout bidding and the actual work. Their crew was extremely professional, and did an incredible job. House now looks better than with the builder's original paint job. Full job did take nearly a week as there were only two painters assigned but they really knew their stuff. Their prep (power wash, scrape, sand, and caulk) was far more comprehensive than I'd have done myself, frankly.

Chose Stellar because it was a solid company with many years in the industry. Estimate was generated on time, company was flexible in terms of scheduling the job to meet my time frame. The office staff was friendly and courteous. Victor Martinez and his crew of 3 painters arrived on time each day and completed the job in 4 days, putting in extra time. They were trustworthy, very hard-working and took great care in protecting hardwood floors and furniture. I felt entirely comfortable leaving them alone in my house. I would definitely work with Stellar again and would certainly request Victor and his team.

Greg did a great job meeting with us before hand to understand the project. He submitted a proposal. The proposed cost was too high for our budget, so we adjusted our expectations to reduce the square footage of the project to be painted. It involved three colors. We paid 25% down payment to lock in our paint day on the calendar. The crew showed up on paint day, did their work as scheduled, waited for a walk through, corrected a challenge spot, collected their "remaining balance" check and they were on their way. A good experience.

Stellar Painting was very responsive up front, and gave us a very competitive quote for the work we wanted done. They were lower cost than 2 other quotes we received. The office personnel were professional and responsive, as well. The painters arrived on the scheduled day. They did not speak fluent english. The painters completed the work in the time estimated. After the painters finished and left, we found a lot of issues with quality and clean-up. The painters left tape on several light fixtures, and about half the base boards in our office, along with a few other small areas of baseboard in other rooms. We found a lot of small paint spots (like drips or splatters) on out hard wood floors. We also found several spots where the painters got paint on walls outsdide of the designated area to be painted. There were a couple fairly large spots (2x3 inches) where paint was on walls around corners into other rooms. There is also a lot of paint on the tops of the base boards. Along corners where the paint transitions to other rooms, the lines are not well defined and there is a lot of paint that got under the tape. These areaslook like I owuld expect if I had done the painting myself. When I hired professional painters, one of the things I expected was a much more "professional" job of cutting in edges. While i'm happy with the price I paid, if I wanted a really professional job, and the quality was the most important thing, I would hire another company.

Response from Stellar Painting & Remodeling
We remain Perplexed and disappointed in this Report. The member’s Elder 21 yr. Old Son walked the Job with the Crew and Filled out the Final Walk Thru Survey and rated the Job as excellent. The Members were unavailable for this Meeting with the Crew. When they reviewed the Job themselves they discovered a few Touch Up's and some Clean Up which is just typical for an Interior. We do these walk thru's to discover or address any Fine Tuning that may be needed and as a human derived Industry this is just going to be a Standard type of thing for all Paint Service Companies. Even after the Walk Thru is Complete, if there is something missed we always give a Client another Return Trip to take care of it. What needed to be done here was minor by the Members own admission when we contacted him directly. He indicated that they "took care of it", that they were satisfied with the Job and it was no big deal. It is enormously disappointing to us to not receive even a single ph. call to express this concern and lend us the common courtesy to address some level of correction needed. The fact that we followed up with him, would have been willing to come back as we always do and will is an indication to members that you can always rely on us in that regard. We have a 98% Approval Rating of excellent for a reason and earned it every bit of the way. Not arranging to take the time to meet with us for the Final Walk, or schedule another Walk with themselves, or lend us the opportunity to fine tune minor corrections to the job does not seem very just to me as mentioned above. No time to walk with us, but time to put in an unflattering report? We do not believe we were given a fair shake here and the rating submitted and comments made are unjust. We would not have expected the member to pay us until happy but yet they did with again no indication of any unhappiness. Why not allow good companies the time, the fair opportunity to be dilligent as is their habit and the ability to follow thru with a good process to the end before passing final judgment? Again, too much in a hurry to do any of that but it’s OK to say unkind things on the World Wide Web. This is Very Sad and the kind of thing that puts enormous pressure on all good companies to perform to levels of perfection that will just be impossible to reach with the type of work we are asked to do in this Industry. We wish this member well with their future Contractors and can only hope they will take the time to allow them to perform and complete a project to its true finished end.

After receiving estimates for the exterior repairs ($1345.00) and separate estimates for two interior paint jobs (total of $1375.00) from Greg Williamson the painting crew arrived the first part of November to start painting the exterior repairs using a paint can the previous homeowner had labeled Home Exterior to match the new paint to the house color. The painter crew was made up of three hispanic gentlemen (only one spoke English). The spokesperson was polite and professional but from what we observed didn't actually paint anything, instead the other two got to work prepping the different areas to be painted while he fiddled around making multiple trips to their vehicle for no apparent reason. At one point the youngest member of the crew was left on our roof without any water or food (which I provided when I found out) by the older two painters. After the two older men returned with the paint and then spent the rest of the morning prepping the various areas they began painting the repairs. They completed painting approximately a quarter (repairs on the front side) to one half of the repaired areas when my wife went outside and discovered that the paint colors didn't match the outside of the house. When my wife saw that our house looked like a really bad jigsaw puzzle she had the painters stop and contact Greg. A number of phone calls ensued with Mr. Williamson eventually coming out to inspect the paint colors himself because the paint crew spokesman said that the colors were different because the paint was wet - despite the assurances from my wife and a next door neighbor that it wasn't the case... After much discussion we determined that the road side of the house had been painted one shade different than the other three sides by the previous homeowner when she was trying to sell but it wasn't noticiable until the painters got to the first side wall of the building. I believed at the time that Mr. Williamson had verified the color during the bid process since he had taken the can outside but I don't know if that was the case or not. After thinking through our options with Greg - 1st - having the repairs repainted for additional $$$, 2nd - having them painted the wrong color for the original bid amount or3rd - paint the three sides of the house the same shade/color as the front of the house for and additional $1200.00. We decided to have them finish the entire three sides of the house to match. It took a number of calls and an additional trip to ensure that all the overspray and paint splatter was removed but the house has a fresh coat of paint on three sides. After dealing with Mr. Williamson with the drama that ensued because of the error with the paint color and overspray we decided not to have Stellar do the interior paint jobs. I don't know how this could have been avoided but if the people doing the actual painting were empowered to ensure proper paint color matches and then handle those changes I would have been more likely to continue using their services, however, that is not how Stellar Painting seems to handle their employees so we won't be utilizing them in the future. Finally - I had hoped that using a company with Painting & Remodeling in it's name would ensure a seamless remodel and paint job but that wasn't the case. It is one company with two divisions that don't seem to talk to one another or take responsibility for their coworkers work - instead each one is operated as it's own little kingdom to the detriment of their customers. I'm sure if you just need one of their services then you will be fine but unless you want to act as your own mini contractor to provide oversight then find a different company to use. As anticipated Mr. Miller's response to our report on the painting division is extremely defensive and derogatory and rather than address the actual poor business model he utilizes he attacks clients. He didn't provide a response to the positive review that we posted of the Remodeling division so I have to assume that the same issue with connecting the dots we experienced during our interactions with the "communicative" Stellar divisions still continue. After having such a negative interaction dealing with such a highly rated Angie's List rated company we have decided to suspend our account so I won't be addressing any future misrepresentations by Mr. Miller should he decide to respond further. In the meantime let me provide future clarity to the issues that he raised in his verbose response. 1st - the actual workers did work to ensure that we were happy. However, the management didn't respond to the letter that I sent them which is why I waited until August to post my review. I would have preferred to deal with my concerns with them directly - which is why I sent the written letter but when it was ignored or not received by the correct person - I decided that Angie's List was my only remaining option. 2nd - my assertion that the crew didn't speak English was based on the fact that whenever I asked two of them a question I was not responded to verbally but was directed (via pointing) to one of the crew to speak to so I assumed that was the case. My apologies. Whether they spoke English (broken or otherwise) wasn't obvious to me but I believe it played a role in the miscommunications and assumptions that Mr. Miller mentioned in his response. 3rd - the original bid was to paint the window frames that Stellar Remodeling (as he mentioned a different division) had repaired the month previously. It was at Greg's suggestion (representing a high rated paint specialist which I am not) that we okayed them painting a one to two foot border past the frames to help the paint match rather than just the frames themselves as Mr. Miller mistakenly mentions. 4th - the paint color when approved was applied to the window frame on the front (South side) of the house where it was identical to the paint around it. It was only after the paint was being applied to the frame and border around the windows on the second (NorthWest side) of the house (NOT all the windows as Mr. Miller mistakenly mentions) when we had them stop because it was so NOT "close enough to the naked eye" that a neighbor walking by asked my wife why the paint didn't match after she had just got done asking the paint crew the same question. I agreed that they went out of their way (reluctantly and under pressure from my wife) to send Greg out to double check the paint color since the paint crew refused to give their opinion on why the paint color didn't match. Greg helped us figure the issue out and said that he would paint the three sides of the house to match the frames at cost since all the prep work had been done and it was already late in the day. Another item that Mr. Miller failed to mention was that Greg told me that it would be great to have work for the crew since it was the end of the painting season and they didn't have any work for them for the remainder of that week so the additional painting would help the crew and company out by keeping them working. 5th - I agree that there was little that could be done when a previous owner only paints one side of the house and leaves the other three sides a different shade and I appreciate Greg's help in getting that figured out. 6th - the "preposterous and disingenuous" overspray and drips that we were concerned with had been discussed with Greg during the initial bidding process and came from the grey primer that had been used by Stellar Remodeling (the other division) a month previously when they replaced the various window frames around the house which he said they would be happy to take care of. As indicated by Mr. Miller paint takes 30 days to dry so the fact that it took them more than a month to schedule the painting of the areas fixed by the same company (but different division) demonstrates that the lack of communication between divisions noted in my original review exists and his hostile response to suggestions that communications between the divisions isn't great shows he is content to post harsh reports about clients rather than deal with the actual issues in the organization that he is a president of. 7th - I'm fine with letting professionals "do their thing" as he requests in his response but when one of his employees is on my roof, knocking on my window, makes hand motions for something to drink and shrugs when I ask where the other guys are with the water container I think that "professional" doesn't describe the operation run by by Mr. Miller. 8th - as we indicated to the receptionist the first time that we were contacted via phone about paying the bill we were out of town but would be paying as soon as we returned from traveling. We returned to Colorado in January, retrieved the mailed invoice from our box, got a second call from their office and paid the bill in full. I'm sorry that Mr. Miller struggled and suffered so greatly on such a personal level that he felt the need to attack my review rather than take the opportunity to look at how to make Stellar Painting do a better job for customers and I hope that Angie's List members take his attitude and responses into account when picking a painting company. I would encourage members to utilize Stellar Remodeling (particularly Desmond) but stay away from the division run by Mr. Miller.
Description of Work: The end of October 2011 I contacted Stellar Painting and Remodeling based off of Angie's list ratings to repair damage to 35 of our wood framed windows and other wood then paint those repairs to match the rest of the house. We also received bids to paint two bathrooms and one hallway in our house. As part of the bid we also asked him to ensure that the excess paint that had been left on the windows during priming after the repairs by the Stellar remodeling team be removed. I also documented his assertion that there would be two coats of paint applied in both the interior and exterior jobs since his initial bid didn't incorporate that information.

Response from Stellar Painting & Remodeling
It is disappointing to see these types of Reports from people who went out of our way to accommodate and help in any way we could to make them happy. I can assure all members that we did so. This report is unfair, somewhat stunning in nature, embellished and inaccurate. It is really something that we should have expected given the ongoing unpleasant demeanor that we contended with thru the duration of the project. To no real surprise, we continue to deal with the unfairness and surly attitude now 8 months later. 8 months? Really!? We document our dealings with all online membership groups very carefully so we can go back at any time and review the actual facts and circumstances of any situation that may have arisen during the normal course of completing the project. What happened from the beginning was not our fault whatsoever. In addition, we had our highest rated crew working on this project with a 8 yr. history with us of 98.9% of Excellent ratings just to give an ideal of the hurdles we were in for with the Project. This member wanted to Paint the Windows the same color as the Windows to the Front of the House by the previous Homeowner. The Windows were the same color as the Body of the House and the Scheme dictated that. THE MEMBER gave us the Paint to match and told us that is what they wanted. The colors were obviously close enough to the naked eye that we would not have anticipated that the actual color to the Front would not be a perfect match to the Body of the other three sides of the House. Again, they gave it to us, we had it matched, sample applied and approved. Once we had completed the Windows, not somewhere in between as indicated, the Member indicated that they wanted the Body to Match perfectly to the matched color to the Windows. The color was close, so the Painters were never really alarmed and assumed that this small diff. was going to be Ok with them. It was not and that’s OK and we enthusiastically moved forward to options for another plan. Greg responded promptly to their Ph. Calls and was out onsite with the Crew to assist in resolving the concern twice. What more can a Client ask for? We then gave them a at cost deal to help them for $1,100.00, not $1,200.00, to Paint the other Three Sides of the House. We were kind, caring, concerned, and responsive and wanted to help at a min. cost to them considering that it was really no one’s fault. To indicate something other than that is not only disappointing but really a grievous misrepresentation, unpleasant, unappreciative and super insensitive. Stellar made 0 profit on the addl. Charge to be of assistance to this member. This member’s claim of Overspray and Paint Drips is completely preposterous and disingenuous. Greg told them when he 1st walked the Project to do the Bid that there was allot of Previous Paint on Glass to Windows, Screens and other Noticeable Areas. This is a common Practice. He indicated that he was aware of that and "not to worry about it". Once we completed the Project they made the outrageous and stunning claim that it was indeed our Paint. What is a good company to do with such behavior? Because we aim to please and wanted to do everything we could to deal with the unfair demeanor being presented to us and ultimately we want folks to be happy, we cleaned OLD Paint off the House and Glass with Solvent and Goof Off at N/C no less. To be clear, Paint takes 30 days to cure and is very soft for at least 2 weeks of that. New Paint will come off with a Damp Rag. Very, very little to no Paint was ours. Lastly, we even Applied Windex to the Glass and CLEANED the Windows for these members when she had an issue with smudge marks created by the Solvent to remove a PREVIOUS PAINTERS Sloppy work. We went above and beyond as we always do. Gracious Appreciation for this type of attention is what we normally receive from clients. In regards to the Crew themselves, both Aldofo and Mayo speak perfectly good English and Jimmy speaks broken English with an accent. The fact that they are Hispanic to me is irrelevant and this Crew’s Reputation with Clients and us precedes them as excellent, caring, patient and reliable. What is the Point trying to be made there especially with inaccurate information being conveyed? The fact that the crew was staging the project, retrieving the materials and getting the 3rd member started on Prep ad Protection is a very normal course of action. Let us do our thing for heaven’s sake. This outrageous and silly claim that one of the Crew Members was on the roof without food or water is just that? I hope the members are getting a feel for what us as a management team and this Crew was contending with. Why would we have Food and Drink on a Roof!? We appreciate them providing Refreshments as many Clients do, but we did not ask them to do so and none needed to be rescued from deprived nourishment. There are 3 Divisions at Stellar, The Paint Division, the Exterior Carpentry Division and our In Home Residential Remodeling Division. We do obviously work together and coordinate together. Each division has its own Leadership model and is managed as such. This has always made sense to us, has worked effectively and I will not apologize for running a company in this manner now very successfully for now almost 9 yrs. This is Business 101 in how to manage, motivate and cultivate a growing company. We took care of this member in a timely manner and had a seamless arrangement for the Carpentry to be performed in front of the Painting. Arrival times can sometimes vary depending on the need to find and pick up Materials. Again, this arrangement and business model has established us as one of the clear leaders in this market for what we do and positive approval ratings thru the roof. Lastly, It would only be fair to note that after several call and e-mails this member failed to pay us for 3 months after the completion of the project further indicating the personality of the overall situation. We worked hard for this member, did what they asked even when were not at fault and completed this project to a successful and happy conclusion. My Disappointment with a harmful and vindictive report given our recorded efforts, interviews with everyone involved, the stress we endured thru the course of the Project and finally with our attempts/anxious moments in trying to collect the final payment has no bounds. To the opposite, we wish this member good will and good fortune with any future Contractors that they may engage with. Guy W. Miller President/CEO Stellar Painting and Remodeling

The work done by Desmond and Danny was excellent. Desmond was able to fix a number of areas that Dan wasn't sure could be repaired and that saved us a lot of money since we didn't have to replace any windows. We had been told that the job would be between $2560-$3200 for labor and between $400-$500 for materials and the final bill came in right between those. They also included timesheets for the two employees and receipts for the materials purchased which I appreciated. My issues with the Stellar remodel division was that there were times that the employees would show they were at our house at a certain time but didn't show up until 15-30 minutes later, also Dan didn't stay the same length of time that Desmond did but we were still charged for the same amount of time (which is why the punctuality rating is a D). Also they didn't leave the additional materials (partial sheet of plywood, molding and nails) that were purchased for the job (which is why the price rating is a C) or they returned them and pocketed the money. They also left a ton of job debris in my yard which created havoc for our lawn guy but once I realized that and picked up after them it was okay (which is why the professionalism rating is a C). One final note - while the name of the company is Stellar Painting and Remodeling the company actually seems to be run as two separate companies with minimal to no communication between the two of them. We initially hired them based off of Angie's list ratings because I thought it would be seamless to have one company repair our windows and then paint them and that wasn't the case. They sent out two different guys at two different times to quote the work (rather than one person or two people at the same time) to give the estimate for work. I spent a lot of time talking to different schedulers to ensure that the painting work was done in a timely manner after the remodel work was completed. We had a terrible experience with the painting division but I'll submit that separately since the remodel folks don't deserve to be painting with that brush and I would hire Desmond to come back and work anytime.
Description of Work: We hired Steller Remodeling to inspect and repair all windows in our home, replace a water damaged soffit area, install horizontal trim boards and prime/prep for paint all bare wood in October 2011. We received a quote by Dan Sears and the work was completed primarily by an employee named Desmond with help from his supervisor Danny.

They were quick, concise and polite. We did not end up doing the work in general because they advised us that they didn't think that was right option.

Overall this was a positive experience
Description of Work: The job Supt. Mr. Desmond Eagle is very conscientious, said what he would do and did what he said. He stayed in touch with the job several times a day and checked in on the workmen and with myself. If I was not satisfied with something(I am very picky) he saw that the work was done completely to my satisfaction. I will use Stellar remodeling & repair when I need this sort of work again. I assume other type of work ie. painting and remodeling would have the same high standard I experienced from from Mr. Eagle. I had window trim replaced trim boards on garage replaced 2 new doors hung and a soffit replaced. I have a house built in 1900 and it is hard to work on and make look like it was when new. I believe they did a good job to try to achieve that.

When I didn’t want to wait and I found someone else he seemed a little put off by it. He wouldn’t have been able to start the job right away anyways.
Description of Work: I had called him for an estimate on a home remodel but he couldn’t even find the time to come look at the job.

I am sorry we dissaponted this member and could not vist with him to review his project. Jack, as all of us, is very busy with an Appt. Schedule and we do our best to fit people in and accomodate them to the best of our abilty. Jack promptly responded to the call & did what he could to set a time. It just was not when this member wanted it. We cannot displace or move other people out of the way as that is not fair to them either. We work 6-7 days a week, set allot of Appointments and do allot of great things for allot of nice folks. Why do we deserve a "D" if Schedules just could not match up or we were not willing to displace another appt. Really does not seem fair to me. In regards to getting to his Project, most good companies can get pretty booked during the heart of the summer. It is not realistic to expect Remodeling Projects to be done without a reasonable wait in a Client Que. Most people understand this and wait there turn as it were. Good and better things always come to people who are willing to wait for something of value. We work tirelessly to be busy at this time of yr. How else can a good company prosper? This member was impatient and rude. I am sorry we were unable to service his needs. We wish him good luck and good fortune with the Contractor that gives him the attention he seeks. Guy W. Superior quality and workmanship. I would definately use them again.
Description of Work: Stellar was amazing! Came by in September to see damage to interior and give me a quote. I then had a gentleman come and remove damage to avoid mold issues. He was very quick, efficient, and was done in about 2 hours or less. In December i had Stellar come back and repair drywall and window box that was water damaged. He was so friendly, and respectful, came in at 8:00 and left at 4:00 after rebuilding half of bedroom wall, window box, and adding textured finish. Was very impressed with how articulate he was. I think his name was Joe, I feel bad I can't quite remember.

Estimate was put together very well, very professional. Two people showed up as scheduled with appropriate gear. After two days they said they were done. Upon coming home from work, we started the walk around the house. Some areas looked ok, but in the back, it looked terrible. Some trim along the windows were only partially painted, there was white trim paint on some of the screens and on the house siding, as well as the back deck. They had also left the water turned on; fortunately a hand control kept it from gushing out, but it had leaked all over the patio and yard. No caulking had been done. In addition, found out last week when we had someone inspecting the roof, that they had a ladder on the roof to get to a section of the trim, and had damaged the shingles in the process. When we called the owner of Stellar, he was very responsive, and appropriately concerned. He did inspect it as well, and brought in a team to fix the problems (btw, this was before we found out about the roof). The rear deck now has a second color of paint on it, since there was no way to match 2 year old deck paint. In the end, they did a nice-looking job on the house, and we're very appreciative of the owner's involvement and work to make things right. He was definitely on top of it. However, it would be better to have it done correctly the first time (without shingle damage and with a rear deck that was still a single color).
Description of Work: Paint trim on two story house with walk-out in back (making it three stories in back); and paint small front porch. They were also on contract to caulk where necessary and replace any siding or wood if needed.

We are always disappointed when we cannot make something Start Great and End Great. The Crew we assigned to this House was a newer Crew that we had assembled within the last couple of Weeks of this project. All Service Companies must add new People. We train them as to our expectations and work hard to put them in a position to succeed. Sometimes certain Crews Do not have good synergy. That was the case with this crew and they have been disbanded as our Standards are as high as any one of our Clients. We immediately, and I mean earnestly/eagerly addressed all of this Members concerns and had the House back up to Speed and completed within 36 hrs. Management, Ownership, Office Staff and My Sales Team all worked together to responded promptly, care allot and be persistent to ensure the project was completed to a Positive End Result, which it was. It was explained to this member that as a Trim only Project that Trim cannot be caulked to Body if you are not Painting the Body as you will see Caulk lines on the Siding Boards. This was clarified again. Shake Cedar Shingles are brittle and dangerous to walk on and will frequently Split or Break as we attempt to move around on the Roof to complete the task that we are asked to perform. Recent Severe Hail Storms have no doubt further compromised the roof as well. I do not believe we were negligent in any way in that regard. The Painting Service Industry will never be perfect. Some Newer Crews Work out, some simply do not. What members can count on is that we work tirelessly to have consistently good people performing our Work and have done that as well as anyone in the Denver Metro Area for almost 9 yrs. now. Most Importantly, we answer our phones, respond to e-mails, huddle up on job sites when needed and look to remedy situations immediately with our Client's Happiness as the # one Priority. This member did send me personally an e-mail thanking us for our efforts, for quickly making everything whole/ right and said they would use us again and recommend us. Very few people give credit( A's or B's) where credit is due for Companies that care, are quick responders, sincerely indicate that they would do anything to make something right, do so and follow up to ensure that it is so. That’s sort of sad really as the true grit and worth of a company you are dealing with is based more on how they respond to an imperfect situation vs. when things are going as expected which is more often the case than not. We wish this member well and appreciate the opportunity to make the end result match up with their expectations and ours.

Stellar Painting has completed many painting jobs for my family over the past 8 years. They are always pleasant to work with, priced competitively, and best of all do a very, very good job on my painting. I like the fact that my bid is what I pay with no increases for little stuff along the way. They have removed wallpaper, refinished drywall, painted both the inside and outsides of my houses and refinished my hardwood doors. Their work is always outstanding.

We contacted Stellar when we moved in to our new home and decided that we wanted to finish out the garage. They had performed a remodel and exterior house paint on our previous home and were very pleased with their work. The drywall work looks great. We can't see any seams. The painting also looks great. They did a great job covering everything up prior to painting. They will be performing some work on the inside of our home in the near future. We would recommend them. You could probably find a company that is cheaper if you looked hard enough, but you get what you pay for. Well worth the money!

I spoke with Guy Miller the President and CEO of the company. He gave me a quote and was professional at the time. We decided to use the highest rated Sherwin Williams paint. One of my major concerns was my windows sills. Guy Miller assured me that they would last 5 years minimum as they use some proprietary sealer on the wood window sills and we would be using the highest grade paint. The job was done but I was concerned that the top of the window frames were NOT painted. Maybe they assumed that I would not see that since they are not that visible. I also expressed concern that they painted on a day that that evening was forecast to get below freezing. Guy assured me that would not be a concern. The problem is that most of the window sills within a year were experincing major paint flaking and deterioration. Guy came out and inspected it along with a representative from Sherwin Williams. They both said there is no warranty since Colorado weather is harsh. I mentioned the verbal warranty of 5 years for the windows sills and was just given the run around. I was told that since it was within a year they would do some touch up on the window sills which they completed. Here it is less than three years after my house was painted and the window sills are experiencing major paint failure. My neighbors have had their houses painted and are not experiencing any of the window sill problems that I am experiencing. In June I contacted Stellar for a quote to paint my windows. A representative from the company came out to give a quote. I expressed my concern about the job that was already done. He said that Guy would call me. It has been a week and NO call. I will say that after I signed the contract initially and I had some questions and concerns I called numerous times to Guy Miller. He NEVER returned my call. From my experience in how I was treated (no communication) and the lack of a quality service I could not recommend this company.

Yikes, I have not received multiple calls from this member and I am definitely not in the habit of not returning calls and I have no messages left with office staff either. Pretty frustrating and maddening claims as I remain baffled as to all these other calls!? The one time he called me I spoke with him promptly and went out to do an onsite visit with the Sherwin Williams Rep. and the Rep. agreed it was not a workmanship issue, just natural Weather elements & Acts of God (Hail) affecting the paint film. I have never In 12 years guaranteed or assured to anyone that windows sills/any horizontal surface would last 5 yrs., so I am really perplexed as to where he got that impression. I no doubt explained to him that he had a 5 yr. Warranty for all Vertical Services which we will of course Honor. I believe he must have misunderstood our conversation in some way, which can happen for sure. We scraped, Sanded and applied Peel Bond to the Sills and used a Top quality Sherwin Williams Paint. One set of Windows or Sills is not necessarily the same as another, so comparing them to a Neighbor or someone else is unfair. Maybe the other set of Windows or sills were not as weather beaten or fractured to start with. Maybe the house was better Maintained. Maybe they are protected better from the Weather with Trees or Direction of Elevation, ect. We have a Horizontal Surface Program in place to help maintain these types of surfaces every yr. or every other yr. for a modest $35.00 per hr. per man plus any addl. Materials needed. No min. Charge and no Trip Charge. This may only be $150.00- $200.00 per yr. to maintain these type of often troubled and weather exposed surfaces. Ice, Snow, Natural Rain, Moisture, Hail and Heat all attack these surfaces regularly and extreme Temperature Variances (Up to 60 degrees or better) will affect life and cause issues in combination with all of the aforementioned as well. Greg, my account Manager, went out as requested, was on time and explained the same program again to the Member. The member spent very little time with Greg, was irritable with him and rushed off to work, ect. Greg prepared a Maintenance Contract/Bid to Paint his Windows for him which I explained above. He told the member that he would get with “Guy” to see what we could do for him further. He did NOT ask Greg for me to call him. Greg did get with me, and I provided a Discount to the member at a reduced rate of $30.00 per hr. to try and help out with a better, reduced cost program. Not sure what more I can do for a fellow. Instead of just working with us in a good & integral way, time is taken to do harm and write something unkind on Angie’s List because we will not do something that is not Industry Standard and has been explained in detail already to this member. Horizontal surfaces are not covered by the manuf. so why and how can we viably make that part of our year to year business plan? It seems to me that we have been responsive. He called. I spoke with him, I did an onsite visit with a SW Rep., a follow up appt. was set with another one of my representatives, and we were there addressing his concerns onsite again and providing a quote to re-paint Windows. To reiterate, I cannot realistically warranty surfaces that are attacked by Mother Nature in such a harsh and varied climate that exists here in Colorado. It is impossible in today’s electronic media to stop negative reviews if someone just does not like or refuses to accept what our programs are and we are not telling someone what they want to hear. Workmanship Failure on Window Sills would occur typically within Months and that we would of course take care of. That is not the case here. If this member wishes, we will of course help and do what we can to be of further assistance. Sincerely, Guy Miller President/Ceo-Stellar Painting & Remodeling

After 3 times of trying to get a quote from Stellar they still managed to be unresponsive and didn't communicate any status of what was happening with the quote. Also after being "forgotten" about after their first visit, and talking to them later at a home show they still managed to not follow up with us. I gave them a third chance to get a quote to us (I was reassured they would fix the situation) and they still didn't answer my questions after I received the quote.

This is my respnse to the member's Report and it says it all: Hey Member, Below is the quote for the Fascia. I saw your report on Angie’s List. I do not disagree with your frustration and share it with you. While we work tirelessly here at Stellar to avoid reports like that and work hard to the core to not have things not go as expected, I believe we deserve to take our lumps on this one with you. It hurts greatly for someone like me, a hard working businessman who cares about every aspect of the business and the countless families that rely on us for income. As we promote people, train them, coach them and nurture them thru mistakes I will have to accept the inevitable criticism that will go along with that as we get them up to speed as to how we go about our business as a normal course of action. Unfortunately, in today’ s world of online real time reviews and ongoing exposure to social media, we will anticipate negative reviews as a real ongoing possibility of what we can expect as we put new people in positions of responsibility. I am truly and heartfelt apologetic for your frustration. Desmond is not the person before him and I have a high level of confidence in his ability and dedication. He is just learning. We have high expectations of our people and he knows that. I will forward you his apology to me which I believe is genuine and heart felt. I cannot make what I have here at Stellar perfect but we are dedicated to it more than you can imagine. We are kind, caring and compassionate people and the all mighty dollar is not our #1 Priority. If you wish us to help you with the Carpentry I will personally make sure you are taken care of and know Desmond would be particularly sensitive to your project. If not, I wish you well. Sincerely, Guy Miller President/Ceo-Stellar Painting & Remodeling Below is my Newly Promoted Carpentry Supervisor's Apology to Me: Hello Guy, I am truly sorry that the member didn’t work out. Missing the facia was totally my fault. I will learn from this experience and do better at paying attention to these bids. I don’t want to make any excuses for my failure to execute the sale of a job. I am fully comitted to doing whatever I have to do to be a productive team player with stellar. I understand your frustration as I am disappointed too. It wont happen again. Sincerely Des I hope members understand that our people care and want to improve and not make the same mistake twice. We care more than most, work hard to train our people and will continue to strive to be the best at what we do every day. The learning curve is inevitable, exposure is always high for successful companies and can be unforgivable. Thank You, Guy W. Miller President/CEO Stellar Painting and Remodeling
