Stellar Painting & Remodeling

The quality of work was wonderful. Would definately use in the future. However, their punctuality was a bit off. They were suppose to start on the 10th and did not start until the 12th. Also something to beware of, they billed our debit card for the final payment without our knowledge or us walking the house with them. Other than thatvit went well. Like I said, they do quailty work and that is hard to find anymore. Would definately use in the future.

They did a very good job and finished timely.

I did have issues with the workers, however the owner resolved the matter satisfactorily.

We had a 1978 master bathroom that really needed to be updated. After I called Stellar and asked for an estimate, Troy came to our house. He was very friendly, and a very good listener! He paid attention to our wishes, and even offered suggestions. When we received his estimate, we decided to let Stellar do the job. The entire space was demoed and remodeled. The half sunken bathtub needed to be completely removed, the toilet was rotated 90 degrees, a wall was removed, and the entire floor was replaced. They gave us a beautiful shower, a beautiful floor, and they set our new vanity and toilet. The bathroom is beautiful, and we love it. Jack stopped by and called several times to ask if we were happy, or if we had any concerns. If there was a concern he made sure it was addressed and corrected! They were amazing. They were punctual, polite, and friendly. And our Mini Dachshund became their greeter, and biggest fan. I think we got the All-Star crew because they did a fantastic job! Thanks, Guys!

Estimtate was supplied based on the amount of work expected. The estimator was professional and informative of what needed to be done and the expected timline.

Stellar painting provided a good bid price below other bids we had gotten previously. They gave us a start date and were there that day bright and early with a full crew. These guys must have worked together a long time, because they worked like a well oiled machine. They asked my opinion on how the work was being performed and truly wanted to do it the way I wanted it done.Ours was a very large job with lots of scraping and sanding and windows up high , It was a pleasure to watch them work. We have another large project to do next year and we will definetly use Stellar painting. I have been in construction most of my life and it is rare to see such professionalism and consistant quality, they get straight a`s Sincerely Stephen A. Scobee

Overall, they did a great job. As with any project there are lots of unknowns and things always take longer and cost more than you expect, but these folks did great work; managed the project very well; were trustworthy and overall the project went very well and we love our new bathroom.

I contacted this company after finding them on Angies List. Troy came to my home on August 20 to provide an estimate for a large bathroom remodel. While he was at the house, I also asked him to provide a bid for several other smaller jobs. He indicated he was backed up with other estimates and it might be 7-10 days before I would receive the estimate. It has now been 7 weeks since Troy's visit and I have not heard from him or the company. I called their office last week and spoke with Ann, who said she would contact the owner to find out what the problem is. Again, there has been no response. I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism exhibited by this company. They wasted 60-90 minutes of my time for Troy's visit. I even give them a chance to rectify the situation when I contacted them last week but they failed to take advantage of the opportunity.

There were some mistakes, as in any job. But i got a signed contract with a price, and at the end of the job, the price was over $500.00 more. What a rip off, they had check off catagories in the contract, but one was in fine print under a bold line item. You check off yes or no. All the answers are in line with each other, but the one in fine print was not, so easy to miss. Because of this accounting practice, i will use somebody else in the future.

Everyone in the company was very good about communication on what was going on with dates, us picking paint, commitment, and execution. Understand that when we asked to have the exterior of our home painted, it was in the middle of the rain, maybe, cold, maybe snow? and other natural issues time of the year. The costumer agents were very good about keeping me informed about when the employees were going to come out and start the job. To my surprise when the painters came out, they came out in force. Starting about 7 AM, they worked all day and completed painting the body, trim and doors of my home in the same day. The clean-up was also done the same day. All individuals were very courteous and polite throughout the whole experience.

Because of the exceptional experience we had with this company painting the exterior of my home in July, I called the experts and had them price out staining my decks. The sales person, Gary, was prompt, courteous, and quick with asking me questions pertaining to all the work I wanted completed. He measured all the decks and stairs and within 3 days I had a quote back that was very reasonable. The workers came out and it took 2 days to complete. We were very satisfied with every thing that was done. I would hire this company again for any exterior work that needs to be completed with my home.

Service was good, punctual. Work was done well, and the folks that came were flexible to slight changes to what we wanted done.

He was somewhat apprehensive about working with someone that lives out of town. I got several other bids and got better prices from companies rated higher here than this one for the same quality of work.

It went well. They was a little confusion since there was a stretch of bad weather. They worked really hard and did a real good. We called them because they were recommended.

I believe a thorough proposal is essential for a clear understanding by both parties of all job parameters and can go a long way toward preventing misunderstandings down the road. Of the three painting contractors who bid on the job, Stellar's proposal was the most detailed and complete (note, when signed it becomes the contract), specifically documenting job requirements, contractor services to be provided and all terms and conditions of the transaction. The crew showed up on-time both days, and after a walk-through of the job with the crew leader (who was there both days) began work immediately. Fast - the four man crew was all business from the get-go, and completed the job in just over a day and a half; very thorough preparation and surface protection, with no paint spills; nice clean wall-celing lines; responsive to my input during the job; following completion the crew leader and I did a walk-through, and he had the crew complete all items (not very many, all minor) on our punch list to my satisfaction before accepting my payment. Throughout, office staff I came into contact with by phone and email during the job worked with me very professionally and courteously.

Company did not respond to queries regarding the exact extent of the work to be performed. During conversations with office personnel, I learned that the work would be performed by a sub-contractor rather than Stellar as indicated by the Big Deal offer.

In the end, Stellar did a fine job with the project. I did have to get after them about a few things that were promised in the up-front sales discussion that they appeared to not be aware of, but each time I did, they got right to work on those issues. Like many contractors in Denver, Stellar's trying to maximize job efficiency by moving work crews around where it makes sense, and I respect that, but I also needed to rein them in on a few issues (no early-morning pressure washing on Labor Day weekend, please). Final work quality was, as mentioned, quite good, and the package price I received for the work done was competitive. Stellar also did a better job of calculating in additional necessary work (XIM Peel-Bond, carpentry, etc) up front and stuck to those estimates, compared with other companies that couldn't really provide me with an idea of those costs before they got started with the job. Recommended, so long as you're willing to ride herd on the delivery process a bit. I'm pretty used to that with Denver contractors, and if you've had any appreciable breadth of work done on your home, you probably are, too.

They were the most expensive out of all the exterior painting companies from whom we received estimates. I feel that they would have done a good job; but in the end, we went with an equally good company for less money.

Called office for an estimate. Estimator called me back the same day. We talked over the telephone about specific areas of the house that needed extra attention. For example: wood corbels would be sanded, caulked, and primer and paint would be hand applied, and house would be pressure washed to include stone facing to remove bird droppings, etc. As agreed, estimator came to the house, while I was at work, then emailed me a written estimate and contract which contained the specifics we had previously discussed. Painters showed up on scheduled date. They took great care masking off paver patio areas and other surfaces. They also did a great job of cleaning up after they were finished. When work was complete their office called to set up an appointment to walk the property with us. I told them it was not necessary as my husband and I were very pleased with their work and would be sending them a check for the balance due. It was really great to work with a company that does what they say they are going to do!!

I'm only sorry I did not have Stellar also install a new toilet and the electric lines. I used other contractors for plumbing and electricity and it was a mistake. I would have saved money, completed the job sooner and dealt with fewer workers and the inevitable mess. Stellar's workers have been with them for a while and are happy in their work. They corrected some mistakes made by other contractors. The tile work was excellent, fast and accurate and with helpful design suggestions. The drywall repairs and painting were perfect; it's impossible to tell that whole sections of walls and ceiling were repaired. Some small details that required a little more time were not in the estimate, but I was not charged for them. The final cost was within the small estimate range. Stellar management was on-site just enough, checking on progress and follow-up as to satisfaction was excellent as well. It's easy to recommend this company, that has many skilled workers who can both make good suggestions and follow orders carefully.

My husband and I choose Stellar Painting for our project based on the reviews we read on Angie's list. We had a large amount of the interior of our home to be painted. After meeting with Greg for an estimate we also received several follow up communications before we decided to book the job. Upon completion of the project, we were thoroughly satisfied with the quality of the work. The one negative which affected our overall rating was a disappointment with the lack of communication that occurred during the week of the project itself. Our start date was set for August 19th (Monday). When I asked what time on that date, I was told that the crew would arrive between 8:30 and 10:30am. At 10:45am on August 19th, there was still no crew and no word from anyone at Stellar as to an ETA of the crew. I called the office and left a message. I received response to my message via email. It was fortunate that I was in front of my computer at that time, otherwise I would not have known that the project start was being delayed another day. On August 19th, I was told that the crew would be at my home between 8:00am and 10:00am on August 20th (Tuesday). Shortly before 10:00 on August 20th, I contacted Stellar to find out if we were still on to start. Our contact was surprised the crew had not arrived, and in a subsequent communication told me that they would be on their way to Erie shortly. The crew finally arrived around 2:00pm. Over two days, I waited at home for a total of 8 hours for a crew to arrive to begin work. Upon arrival at my home on August 20th, Bertin and his crew walked through the house so we could all be on the same page regarding the scope of the project. Despite the hour, I expected that some work would be done that day-- even if it was just prep work or taping off molding. The crew was at my home for 30 minutes, and no work occurred on Tuesday. This was frustrating since I spent all morning unable to leave my house while waiting for them. One portion of our project involved repainting a ceiling and a wall in our upstairs loft area. Due to the need for extensive patching in these areas, it was advised that the entire area be painted in full rather than just touched up. (The room itself was not being painted.) Our contract stated these things would be done, and included a note that we would provide a sample of the wall paint as a reference so this paint could be purchased along with the rest. In reviewing the paint purchased, I noticed that the loft wall paint had not been purchased. I confirmed with the crew on Friday morning that the entire wall needed to be painted based on our contract, and was told that they did not have enough paint to do the entire wall (all we had on hand was a quart for touch ups.) In order to keep things moving, I offered to go out and get a gallon of paint to complete the loft wall. I was told to purchase the paint in a semi-gloss finish. Returning home on Friday afternoon, I found that the crew had completed the work and were ready for the walk through. The workmanship was outstanding and the crew was always willing to correct issues with edging or peeling along the way. When we got upstairs to walk through the loft area, I was told that the wall was not painted because the finish on the wall was flat, not semi-gloss as I was advised to purchase. It would provide an inconsistent finish. The crew used touch up paint to cover the repaired areas and the transitions were seamless. Since the cost of the project included a full painting of the loft wall, I immediately called Stellar to straighten things out. Greg called me directly, and we worked through a resolution to address my dissatisfaction with the work not being completed per the contract. Greg was very good at listening to my concerns and trying to make the situation right. One other comment that I would have about the project communication as a whole. I expected that we would have regular communication with Bertin in his capacity as crew chief. I spoke with him once over the course of four days, when he arrived on Tuesday to review the scope of the project. In the future, I would certainly recommend the quality of the workmanship provided by Stellar Painting. Unfortunately, it seems that there is need for improvement in company/client communication particularly during the time that the work is taking place.

There is still some "bleeding" through of the paint samples I put on the back of the house although Jason applied primer plus three coats of Sherwin Williams acrylic A-100 flat in attempt to cover them . I was not made aware of the fact that It was not a good idea to put the paint samples on the stucco - I assumed the samples would be covered by the house paint - all samples were variations of gray and the original EFIS that was painted was also gray. The "samples" I put on the house are barely noticeable and really can't be seen in unless the light is just right. Nonetheless, the house still looks beautiful and I am quite pleased with the outcome. Jason also applied waterproofing to the brick floor of my front porch. His crew worked very hard and showed up each day until the job was completed. I'm not sure if one or two coats of paint was put on the house trim. Original was white and new paint was also white. I would hire Stellar again. I don't know much about paint or painting so I am assuming everything was done according to the Stellar Bid Proposal and Contract. If I find I have any problems Stellar has assured me they will be responsive with assistance.

I called about a exterior home pressure wash coupon on Angie's list and asked about if they recommended doing this on a brick home. The woman who I spoke stated they didn't do the pressure wash unless I did additional work with them. When asked about the brick issue, she was rude and laughed as if it was a stupid question. Complete lack of professionalism and any knowledge of what is offered at their company.

The crafts people were very professional. The work was of high quality. We have had many compliments. For the most part everything went smoothly and when there was a small problem Jack handled it. We would have them do future projects.
