WORST experience ever!!!

Master Rooter’s technician created an incredibly dangerous situation with natural gas in my sister’s home.  My sister awoke on Saturday morning to find that her water heater was leaking. I came over and cleaned up the water damage, then used Angie's List to find that Master Rooter is open on Saturdays and I gave them a call. The plumber arrived within an hour and determined that the tank was leaking and needed to be replaced. He went to his truck to prepare an estimate. The “estimate” was a glossy, full color price sheet with three tiers of pricing and “member” discounts. MR will charge you $180/year for the benefit of discounting future services. They also charge $300 extra for providing a 6 year warranty for parts and labor work. Since the lowest tier included a six year warranty on the tank, which is all that ever goes bad on a water heater, we ignored this huge red flag and told the plumber to just install a new tank. Keep in mind this was the “base” tier of $1400, which is on the high side for this kind of job, but we needed it done that day. The plumber was happy to push us on their top tier price of $2700. To install a water heater. The plumber purchased a tank at Home Depot and came back to install it. He seemed off when he returned, but we didn’t think anything about it. He completed the job and left. The next morning my sister found that there was very little hot water in the shower, so she went to the basement to see if the tank thermostat was set correctly. She smelled a strong odor of natural gas so she closed the basement and called Xcel Energy, who told her to immediately evacuate the house with her two young girls. An Xcel technician quickly arrived and determined that the plumber had reused the old fittings everywhere, had not sealed the pipe threads, and thus had created a natural gas leakage at the water heater of 75% of flow. Meaning there was more natural gas going into her basement than going to the heater. He shut off the gas to the heater and my sister called Master Rooter. MR sent a new plumber to her house within an hour. Upon arriving, he said that they usually install more components with these jobs (for additional charges) and asked about doing a whole house inspection. She told him to just finish the job correctly and leave, which he did. He never offered an apology or admission that they messed up. He gave her a $50 coupon for future work. Bottom line: Master Rooter created a serious natural gas leak in which could have lead to fire or death, then tried to upsell when they came to fix it. We will not be calling them again.

Not well.  He had to tear out part of my wall and re sodar my pipe which he didn't do.  Had massive leakage in neighbors garage from my wall in the bathroom.  I had to hire someone to come in and tear the wall down in my neighbors garage and my bathroom has to completely be redone.  I had mold behind my walls and under my flooring.  It's now November and I'm just getting it back together.  The owner was to pay the asbestos testing and he refused.  So his insurance company couldn't write me a check until he did.  He waited two months to pay it.  Horse crap company and I would never use them again even if someone paid me.  Honestly, I'm shocked at Angie's list that they are even on your website.  I was under the impression that people use people and then put their two cents in, apparently you can sign your own company up and just have friends write good reviews. 

Unfortuanely like so many of us we will at some point need a plumber. I was referred to Master Rooter Plumbing from a co-worker if ever I needed service. One night our water heater broke and flooded our basement. So I call Master Rooter Plumbing to find out more information about costs and how soon someone could help me. The girl that answered the phone was very nice and walked me through their process and made me feel comfortable not only about my situation but the service technician that was coming out. I have 5 children and with the mess that the water heater made I was freakin out! After speaking with her and got a technician on the way they arrived within an hour. Still clearly upset from a situation I have never had to deal with,  the service technician Clayton was very kind hearted and understanding of my situation. He came in let me know step by step everything he was going to do and how much it cost. Clayton DID what I have found through other plumbing companies when I had to have basic plumbing needs met, did not do... Clayton explained it! He explained why this happened, how it happened and everything he needed to do in order to get my family back on track. After all the water was cleaned up, the new water heater was put in. I stood there for a moment looking at the water heater with a sense of relief. A sense of peace. My home has a new water heater and with the exception of my minor meltdown the expierence was above board. I am so thankful I called Master Rooter Plumbing that night, and as for my co-worker well, lets just say they got a big thank you as well!! I have referred Master Rooter to everyone in my family. Thank you so much for the help words cannot express the gratitude I feel. I will be calling you for any plumbing problem or question I may have in the future!!!
