Leland Moore General Contractor

I want to say that Leland seemed to be everything we were looking for at first. Here are the honest pros and cons of the initial estimate experience: Pros: 1) Relatively quick response time 2) Seemed professional when he came to view the property 3) Gave thorough explanations and came with proper tools to estimate size of project 4) Meet in person a second time to give a further detailed estimate and discuss the project Cons: When met in person the second time, decided to take off some items that he had to adjust, therefore he had to rework the numbers and submit a new bid/proposal. When he submitted it via fax (could not send via email though he said he tried?) it did not have any number itemizations of amounts except for a final sum. Having never worked with a contractor before, I contacted him to discuss the further reason in amount change and request an itemization. I was given the reason he didn't provide one was that his bid would go to his competitors and his other clients didn't request one. The bid/proposal required a signature to hold to a payment agreement, but prior to that I wanted to see the detailed price listings. He stated that he would give me that only if we had an agreement first. Needless to say he was stipulating his preference as a business owner repetitively but not connecting to me as a customer. He laughed under his breath more than once and I felt was not taking my logical concerns and requests with consideration nor regard. As an option he offered to meet another time after the agreement was given to provide an itemization that he would keep. When I asked when to meet since the project was time sensitive (which he was aware) he stated approx. 5 days later because he would be out of town. He reiterated that he could not do the project for less than the sum given amount, but would not give even over the phone as to the price adjustment reasons from when we met the second time? Conclusion He started out well but as things progressed i found his approach to be be unaccomodating and unprofessional in handling the Bid/Proposal contract agreement. If you don't care how your treated, don't ask for any detailed information and just pay the bill he might be the contractor for you....
