Hunter Douglas did not honor their Limited Lifetime warrant.
Description of Work: Though Blindsmith , Inc., a licensed installer of Hunter Douglas,? has been excellent both installing and repairing our blinds, they use a Hunter Douglas product. Hunter Douglas has not honored their Limited Lifetime warranty. In early 2003, we purchased the blinds and warranty as part of a house remodel.? We paid almost $10,000 for blinds as a part of a remodel which 10 years ago was a lot of money for us. If we knew the lifetime warranty would not be honored, we wouldn?t have purchased the blinds in the first place. Until recently, we have been very happy with the product and very satisfied with the few repairs that have been necessary under the product?s Limited Lifetime warranty.? Now, apparently, that warranty is no longer being honored and so we have had to replace the same blinds through Home Depot at less than half the cost. Ironically, the new blinds come with a better warranty. According to the warranty, ?Hunter Douglas Inc. warrants that its Hunter Douglas brand window fashion products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product (or as otherwise set forth below*), PROVIDED THAT (i) such products were installed in residential dwellings; and (ii) such products were made or assembled exclusively from Hunter Douglas materials and components.? The products were installed and maintained by Blindsmith, Inc., a Hunter Douglas licensed dealer. We are the ?original retail purchaser.? Also according to the warranty, ?The obligation Hunter Douglas and its licensed fabricators/distributors is limited to repair or replacement of the window fashion product or components found to be defective and excludes shipping charges and costs of removal and reinstallation. Repairs will be made with like or similar parts.? Apparently they no longer make this model of the shade. Their obligation with this lifelong warranty is to replace with ?like or similar parts.? In the warranty it states that: ?This warranty does not apply to conditions caused by normal wear and tear upon the product.? Still, they have replaced the parts several times before at no cost, as recently as January of this year. Now that they no longer make the parts, they?ve stopped standing by their warranty.

Hunter Douglas was great about coming out to do the measuring then placing the order after helping us decide on a color for both sides of the blinds. The blinds arrived by mail.
Description of Work: We ordered custom cut window blinds for our entire house from Hunter Douglas.
