In 1994, the Elder family opened their first auto repair shop in Denver, Virginia Village Texaco, located on the corner of Florida Ave and Holly St. Eventually outgrowing the original 3 bay gas station; a move to a larger 7 bay shop was made in 2005. Elder Auto opened at 4940 E Asbury Ave. Again our business quickly grew and in 2013 it was time for a move to a larger auto repair facility with 15 bays. Today, our business continues to thrive, and we now offer an extensive range of automotive repair services at our new location at 5555 E Evans Ave.

I just moved to Colorado and, when I noticed a leak under my car, was very hesitant about finding a new auto service center. I absolutely loved the one I left and felt I would never find one that measured up to them. And, as a young, single woman with very limited car knowledge, it is way too easy to get ripped-off. I found Elder Auto on Angie's List and after reading all of the positive reports, I decided to give them a try. I am so glad that I did! I called and got an appointment the next morning. When I arrived, the owner of the shop asked me questions about the size of the leak, color of the fluid, etc. so that the problem could be adequately found and corrected. My 13 year-old car with over 100.000 miles, that had just been driven cross-country, was then promptly checked-out. About 20 minutes later, the technician called me up to the counter and told me that a couple of clamps had come loose and that some hoses were therefore loose and leaking. He had tightened the clamps, reconnected the hoses, and topped off the fluids that had leaked (quite a bit had leaked out by this point). I took out my wallet to pay, and was told that there was no charge!!! When does that ever happen?? An auto service center that does something for free- especially with a non-established client? I was shocked and could not have been more impressed with the honesty, professionalism, and knowledge of everyone at Elder Auto. I will happily be a client for the duration of my time in Colorado. I consider myself very lucky to have found an honest and reliable service center, and would recommend Elder Auto to absolutely everyone and anyone. Also, as an added bonus, the waiting room is very comfortable and clean (a rare find in an auto service center), and absolutely every employee that I encountered while waiting was very friendly- they all smiled and spoke to me. This place is a gem!
Description of Work: Noticed leak under my car after driving cross-country. Had it checked out, and hoses and clamps tightened.

This is actually my second service at Elder Auto. This is one of the few honest auto maintenance/service families I have been lucky to find (through the help of Angie's List and Google). I had originally taken my SUV to Ku...(not going to spell their name, but let's call them "Dealership Service"), and they provided a list of things they said I should get repaired or fixed. Examples include new tires, new brakes, transmission oil change, fuel line cleaning, new cabin air filter, new air filter, etc. I only wanted an oil change and air filter change. I consented to the transmission fluid change, but not anything else as I had the cabin air filter changed only 8 months earlier. I later realized that I already had the transmission fluid changed about 10 months earlier. Clearly my fault for not keeping track of the maintenance of my SUV. I knew the tires would need changing soon, but it still passed the penny test. I knew I needed brakes, but I didn't want "them" to do it. So I researched Angie's List and Google and found great reviews for Elder. I made an appointment for a brake change and asked them to check the other items. They changed the brakes, said the tires are good for about another 5-7k miles, the fuel line can be cleaned with a good additive to the gas tank which costs much less than than $125 "they" wanted to charge, and the cabin air filter was still good. So from now on, my SUV and any future vehicles will go to Elder Auto. They also picked dropped me off and picked me up from work.
Description of Work: I had the brake fluid and oil changed.

Wow! I have finally found a place I can trust. I no longer have to worry about being sold unnecessary fixes. I called them around noon and asked if they could take a look at my truck (that day) and tell me what's going on with it. They said sure, bring it in. Three other places said I would have to set a date in the future, so I was pleasantly surprised. I explained I was having an issue with the lights on my vehicle staying on because my truck was registering there was an open door, when that wasn't the case. Because of this my battery was constantly being drained. I asked them to look into the malfunction, then to test my battery and alternator to make sure they were good. I feared my front suspension was going and asked them to look into that as well. They offered to do a general inspection of the truck and let me know in a couple hours. True to their word they called me with the results. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my battery and alternator were good. He found the faulty switch in my door causing the misread and said my suspension was good, a minor fix could be made, but not urgent if I had to wait. They found the my coolant and power steering fluid was in need of flushing but said they could wait, too. Overall, I found them to be extremely honest and professional. I look forward to doing business with them again in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced sway bar bushing kit on my front suspension and replaced the door jamb ajar switch on my driver side door. I also had them drain and flush my cooling system and I had my steering fluid flushed. They did a overall check on the vehicle, tested the battery and the alternator.

They were fantastic and had a lot of good reports on Angie's List so I want to add another positive report. They did the job within a reasonable period of time considering what they had to do. They dropped it off to my son and he tried to drive it the next day and it conked out and the check engine light is on. They take it back into the shop and they end up doing another $1,500 worth of work and they did not charge me for that. That is unbelievable. They felt like they needed to stand behind their product. They gave it back to my son and it worked fine but then he had trouble with the steering wheel and the trouble light came on again. They cleaned it all up and made it like brand new so it shifts like butter now. This is a company that stands behind their product. They were listed on Angie's List as a super vendor and I was led to them by your list and they truly are a super vendor.
Description of Work: I used Elder Auto to change the intake manifold gasket and literally take my son's auto engine apart to correct a number of problems. They ran a number of tests to determine what needed to be done. They steam cleaned the engine and got everything back and running. They checked all of the other parts free of charge including the muffler and brakes. They rotated and balanced the tires.

I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone searching for a great auto shop.
Description of Work: Was searching for a shop that would provide quality mechanical work at a fair price, searched Angies's list and decided upon Elder Auto. Turned out to be a great decision. Stopped at the shop for a quote on my 2005 Honda that needed major maintenence work done. I was suprised to be waited on right away and Gerard came out and took a look at my vehicle and told me that he did not feel that I needed all of the work to be performed - that got me as a customer right off . I left my vehicle there and it was done the same day, they even installed a cabin filter for no charge because I had no idea where it went. When I came to pick the car up they had even washed it for me, I intend to recommend them to all my friends and family, and will be a customer for as long as they provide such great service at a fair price.

I live in south central Denver and was looking for a reliable, competent and close to home general auto repair and maintenance establishment. I checked Angie’s list and found Elder Auto which was less than half a mile from home. Since my car needed brakes I dropped it off and was told the car would be ready by 5:00 PM. I walked home. To my surprise Elder Auto called around 11:30 and the car was done. The cost was a bit less than the dealer. I left a pleased customer. A few days later I got a call from Elder Auto checking to see if the car and brakes were okay. There were and still are. I am quite pleased to have a competent auto repair shop close to home and will use Elder Auto agqain and highly recommend them to others.

I found Elder Auto on Angies List and called them to explain the problem. They told me all the likely scenarios and their speculation was actually correct. They were able to replace my transmission pan the same day I had my car towed there. They looked over the entire car for anything out of the ordinary. They found nails in the tires, removed them, and patched them at no extra charge. I called a Toyota parts dealer to verify the cost of the pan and Elder Auto did not charge me extra for it even though they had to send someone to the dealership to pick it up. They were able to perform all maintenance within 2 hours. I was very impressed with their professionalism and efficiency.

This was the first time I've decided to use an auto service centre that was not a Chrysler/Jeep dealer. Became tired of being gouged. Spent a fair bit of time researching options on craigslist .... but never developed a good feeling re any of the options there ... and decided to try AngiesList. Elder Auto popped up early on .. and after reading the feedback from others selected them to quote me on the work I wanted done. Initially spoke with Ramon Elder -very courteous, very professional and friendly. Quote in terms of price / time estimate was accurate. Subsequently my wife dropped off the vehicle & went to collect it -and she also fully agrees with my opinions re everything about dealing with these guys ... they were great. I'm more than happy to serve as a reference for Elder Auto and can be contacted directly if anyone has any specific questions. We definately plan to use them again in the future. Wayne.
Description of Work: I had the standard Jeep Liberty alternator replaced with a Mean Green high output alternator and a new serpentine belt. Also had 4 aluminum billet door handles installed in place of the standard, original moulded (plastic) door handles.

Excellent! From the time I called to make the appointment the day before, I was able to get an appointment the next morning, to the actual diagnosis and service with a wait time of only an hour. Granted, the problem was minor; but still, they did not make me sit around and wait for hours. They fixed it immediately and I was on my way! Very professional!
Description of Work: I actually went out of my way to go to Elder Auto based on the reviews from AngiesList, and I must say that it was well worth the extra miles and time! I was told that it would cost $65.50 for a diagnotic and that is exactly what they charged. Fortuantely, the problem was minor and only required replacing a hose for an additional $3.28. They did not try to oversell or convince me that I needed additional work done. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it within an hour! Talk about punctuality! If I had taken it to the dealership,well....some things are best left unsaid, and I'll stick to the positive comments about Elder Auto. The staff is very, very courteous and friendly as well as a having a pleasant waiting area. I have certainly found my new auto repair shop! To the staff at Elder Auto...Thank You!

As stated above, the kind people at Elder Auto helped us make the best of a bad situation. Being new to the Denver area, it was great to find a place willing to go out of their way to provide honest customer service.
Description of Work: We dealt with both Ken & Ramon(Mr. Elder, the owner) at Elder Auto; they were both extremely responsive & professional. The timing belt had broken on our 2005 VW Bug & caused valve damage; the cost of the repair exceeded the value of the car. Ramon took the car off our hands for a very fair sum & truly helped us make the very best out of a bad situation. They gave us a ride to the grocery store afterward & offered to assist us by inspecting a "new" vehicle when we are ready to buy. We were very pleased with the service we received here & will definitely do business with them again.

I have taken my Audi S4 and Dodge Ram pickup to Elder on several occasions. Until now, I have had no issues with their work. They are friendly and honest, and take the time to explain options as well as suggest what work is required versus what work is optional. My Audi S4 has been leaking coolant for a while. It is not a standard leak - the coolant will dump all at once, and at random times. I had spoken with different outfits over the past year or two, and all said it would be an expensive repair. Finally, I decided to ask Elder to fix the issue. I took my car in and Elder worked on it for three days. They replaced the water pump, which involved a significant amount of labor (and was therefore expensive). When I got the car back, the leak was less frequent, but still occurred. I took the car back in a month or so later, and they looked at it again. They performed all the work again, and did not charge me a dime (they have a warranty on their service work). I thought this was very professional and honest of them. The warranty work did take a few days longer than they said it would. Unfortunately, the car is still leaking coolant in the same manner (though not as often). As my previous experiences with Elder have all been positive ones, this may just be a very difficult problem to diagnose. Still, after paying a lot of money, I would like the problem to be solved! I plan to take the car in again in the next few weeks. I will follow up with a report on whether they are able to fix the issue and whether they cover the work under warranty.

The clutch was slipping on my Integra, so my husband and I looked on Angie's List and found Elder Auto. We called on Thursday, 5/27 and they explained that they were really busy and because of the holiday weekend they would not be able to look at it until the following Wednesday, 6/2. We dropped it off that Wednesday morning and by 11:00am they called my husband with an estimate of the repairs. The mechanic that called was very nice and explained all of the charges. We told them to go ahead with the work and the mechanic told us that they would probably have the work done by 5pm the next day. They also looked at my oil change sticker and noticed I was due for an oil change, so we had them add that on as well. That was an added bonus because we did not have the hassle of taking the car somewhere else. At 6:00pm that day the phone rang and the mechanic called to say they have finished the car! It was such a great surprise. We told them we would pick it up first thing the next morning. They don't open until 7:30am but I got to the shop early about 7:15 or so and they were already open. Another great surprise! I was on crutches, so I got a ride to the shop and while hobbling my way up the stairs one of the mechanics came out and offered help. The total cost of the repairs was exactly what they said it would be and my car was all ready to go. While I waited for my husband to get there so we could leave (I obviously couldn't drive being on crutches), I waited in the lobby which has nice chairs, tons of magazines, coffee and cold soda and water. Everyone my husband and I came into contact with at Elder Auto was wonderful!! Very friendly, informative, helpful and kind- they didn't even laugh at me trying to get up stairs on crutches! I will continue to go back to them over and over again and would recommend them to all of my friends and family.
