PEOPLES MORTGAGE

It was the worst home buying experience. For starters, Debbie Laney (our loan officer) is VERY unprofessional. Debbie led my husband and I to believe from the get go that she could get us this loan it would just take a little bit longer do to our unique employment situation and by that I mean, my husband is self employed and has been for 2 years in Dec. 2015. She said that she could easily work around that. When the market crashed in 2008, my husband lost his job and we were at an all time low. Since then, we have bounced back tremendously financially. We pay our bills and our credit scores aren't too bad either. So we are not the worst loan package ever, just a little more work than someone with 800 credit score and no blemishes on their credit (not common in the day and age). So, we decide that we want to purchase the home that we have been renting for the past 8 years. This home has a lot of sentimental value to us and its the only home that our children know. My husband and I already spoke with the owners and our relator and have agreed on a price. Now, we are going to do some upgrades to get our home ready for the VA appraisal. (my husband is former Navy). We put 9000.00 worth of work into our future home, not to mention the blood, sweat and tears that went into our home. All the while, Debbie still assuring us that we are moving in the right direction. Its now time to put the earnest money down on this house on Debbie's word that we are certainly going to get approved. We put down $6000.00 and continue to work on our home. Debbie starts calling us out of the blue asking for documents that she already has, but we agree to get them to her again thinking maybe she just has too much on her plate and didn't remember. Mind you, these are very personal documents in regards to our financials. Well, this continues for MONTHS!!!! Anytime that we would hear from Debbie, it was like we were telling her our situation for the first time. She is very scatter brained and it was almost like she has forgot that she even knew us. We Always got her any and all paper work that she asked for. My husband and I are finally fed up and became very uneasy about this situation so we thought about leaving Peoples Mortgage, but decided that we were too far in with them and were assured through Debbie and our relator that we were close to sending our paperwork into underwriting. So we stayed, Documents continue to be missing. Communication continues to be rare and we continue to prepare our home for the appraisal. Debbie will not return phone calls, text, or emails. When making the biggest purchase of your life, communication is a top priority and is completely void when it comes to Peoples Mortgage and Debbie Laney. Around the 1st of Sept. I was speaking with our relator on the phone because I am excited that we are getting so close to buying our home. When my relator say " Debbie has been telling me from the beginning that it will be a miracle if you get this loan"!!!! I said " WHAT? Debbie has told us from the very beginning that :we had this in the bag". My relator continues to tell me that Debbie has told her we had a slim chance of getting this loan. So again, we went from being on a high about buying our first home to a low. That has been a normal rollercoaster ride from the beginning. We feel that we were scammed. We were always misled. We put faith in Debbie Laney and Peoples mortgage and as a result, have just experienced our worst nightmare!! She lied to us from the beginning about getting the loan for us. She lied to the underwriters at Peoples Mortgage about my husbands employment and as a result we did not get the loan for our home. As if that wasn't bad enough, instead of Debbie calling us to inform us that we didn't get the loan, we had to hear it from our relator!!! I will NEVER recommend this company. Peoples Mortgage and Debbie Laney should be ashamed of themselves for scamming people out of obtaining the American dream and putting a hard working family through the wringer and making the experience of obtaining the American dream the biggest scam and nightmare.
