Over the past two years I had taken my car times for repair. I felt that they had integrity in fixing what was wrong, however, the price was high and getting to them was always a bit of a challenge especially with the construction.
They switched owners in the spring and I have only had it serviced under the new owners once. I think they did a good a job and the price was ok, but still on the high side.

As usual their work was thorough and excellent.
For the last many years, I have been using ?Import Specialists? to maintain my vehicles. They always have been a reliable, honest and fair repair facility. If one of my vehicles develops a problem I can always rely on them to repair it promptly and correctly. They always call for approval if additional work should be required.
I always insist on having the job done completely and correctly. They have never disappointed me. I trust them implicitly with my vehicles.

They called and told me it needed a new catalectic converter and charged me for the entire process. I did not do it because I was giving the car to a friend in California. When we gave it to my friend he took it to a mechanic we used to use in California and he said just put premium oil and premium gasoline in a couple of times and it will be fine. It was and I am wondering why this other place was going to charge us a fortune to put in a catalectic converter when in fact they could have done what the other people did so I was not impressed. I do not recommend them and will not use them again in the future.

They were very pleasant and were able to get my car in quickly. Estimate was given to reattach the bumper and oil change, synthetic oil was stressed by me and on the sticker in the car, was going to be a bit over 100 dollars as the bumper could be popped back in and not replaced. I received a call the next day saying the piece connecting the steering column to the wheel must be replaced immediately and it was dangerous for me to drive. So I told them to go ahead even though they estimated my bill would be 4 times what was originally quoted. When I picked up the car they had a number of other items that should be fixed but I declined- one was the brake pads even though they were replaced 12 months earlier. I asked for them to give me the part they replaced. Two days later the bumper came off again and when I called they stated that I could bring it back in for them to fix but it would cost more. At that point I decided to take my car to my other mechanic for a second option on the work that was done. I After looking at the part he was surprised that the entire part was replaced and that I was charged double for the actual cost of the part. The whole 'unit' did not need to be replaced. Additiionally, they used REGULAR oil and not synthetic as I requested and the sticker clearly stated. Fortunately this was caught.

"1.)We may have had a miscommunication on the oil change, since the repair order only stated "oil and filter change," but when the error was discovered the oil was immediately changed again to synthetic and the member was not charged for the price difference. 2.)He was charged one half hour to repair the bumper/air dam with the understanding that the plastic was damaged and only replacement would truly fix the problem. He authorized the temporary repair. the part was $.81 We did not say the brake pads needed to be replaced. We always inform customers how much brake pad they have left, and in this case it is stated on the repair order "brake pads look newish,rotors are lipped and rusty at edges, no lube on brake pads." We informed him that next time he needs brake pads he should also replace the rotors, but he should wait until then. 3.) The outer tie rod end on the left side had excessive play, and was bordering on a dangerous condition, The outer tie rod end is available seperately, however the outer tie rod and the inner tie rod were rusted together and would not come apart, thus the assembly had to be replaced. We regret that the member did not discuss this with us prior to sending a complaint to Angie's List five months after the repairs were made. Import Specialists stands behind our work and our warranty, and we would have appreciated the opportunity to work with the member to achieve his satisfaction."

I was very happy with the quality of the work and their professionalism. The shop is clean and very organized. The owner and everyone working was very personal and pleasant to talk to. They took the time to explain the work they did and gave a list of items that may need attention in the near future. I had made an appointment and they told me how much time it would take. I waited and the work took twice the amount of time. Better off dropping off the car and picking it up later.

Had neglected maintenance for a while on an infiniti qx4 and they got me up to date. A good chunk of the price was basically rebuilding the suspension. Staff gives great descriptions of the issues they find and don't overhype problems that don't need immediate attention. Probably could have saved a few dollars elsewhere, but felt the high qualit work warranted it.

We've been using Import Specialists for years and trust their service entirely. Most recently we had them inspect a car (actually 2 cars within the last year) prior to purchase and then bought the cars based on their recommendations. They have serviced our cars for decades - keeping our 83 VW well running as well as our newer vintage autos. We've learned we can trust their recommendations on repairs. They've also been candid enough to let us know when their recommendation was to part with a car too. We've been through many repairs together - replaced clutches, timing belts, repaired AC systems, replaced batteries, replaced brakes and exhaust systems, replaced broken lights, etc. We would recommend them without reservation.

I had to work with them because it's becoming difficult to find independent service stations who will work on hybrids. They were very collegial, up front about why they were doing everything they did, and I felt that they seemed very forthcoming and reliable. Some of the labor charges were a little high (something like 20 bucks to turn off the dummy light that says maintenance required - something I will insist on doing myself next time), but it was all about on par with what I've paid previously. And with a hybrid, you have to be willing to pay those premiums now, I guess. They were very quick to return my phone calls, and get me in. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the service.

I've been very satisfied with their service. They have kept both our cars (a '92 Honda & a '95 Subaru) running great. Their rates are a little better than just competitive, & they do not recommend unnecessary repairs. They are prompt to call, inform me of problems, & request authorization to proceed on any work not previously discussed. They are very good at having my cars ready when they say they will be.
