Fantastic overall. Will use again.
Description of Work: I live in another state, and I have a rental home in Aurora, and there was a leak from the downstairs bathroom. My tenant had no idea the extent of the issue, and when I had another cmpany call her to set up the service call, the other company simply went on her description and suggested we tear out the concrete floor to fix the drain. Master Blaster was the first to respond to my call, and went out to the property. They did their best to do as little damage as possible, and ended up snaking the drain and repairing the pipe. They did a great job!

Did not solve problem. Was willing to proceed to do work that is against code in colorado. Poor ethical practices.
Description of Work: I have had many problems with the kitchen sinks poor drainage over the last 2 yrs. Master blaster came out with the intent to do a sewer line video only. since the sewer line was clear that meant they had done all the work they were willing to do for a $79 video of the sewer line. They did not put anymore time into figuring out why the kitchen sink was not draining correctly, which is the reason for the call. I expressed my concern while the two gentlemen were at the home. They responded with telling me that the kitchen sink is draining incorrectly and that they could hook the kitchen drainage and in with the sump pump drainage line and hook that to the sewer line. In colorado it is against code to build your sump drainage in to the sewage drain. They quoted me $3900.00 to do work that would have to be redone later if I ever wanted to sell my home. Do things right! For the same price I went with another company they took out the concrete and relaid a new kitchen pipe from the sink to the sewer line. 8 feet of the kitchens castiron drainage pipe was rotted out on the bottom.

Response from Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain LLC
I appreciate your bringing this to our attention. Our first issue to overcome is legitimacy, Master Blaster is a fully licensed and bonded company. We do work within plumbing code under no circumstances would one of our highly skilled technicians offer to connect your ground water pump to the sewer. After fully researching this with our technicians, there were some discrepancies. The amount quoted to redo the existing system was $1,000.00 less than what was stated in the review. Most importantly the piping system with the kitchen line draining into the sump station is pre existing and the quote given was to correct this. According to the information given to me by our camera technician the kitchen drainage was diagnosed in this way. The customer was asked to run water from the kitchen faucet while he listened for the drainage sounds in the basement. In his opinion he could clearly hear it flowing into the pump station. He even pulled the lid and checked the viscosity of the water in the pit with his hand. Typically groundwater has no grease in it, this was totally greasy. I will not comment on whether or not a house with this type of plumbing system other than for any home buyers who get to see this report to be aware. Groundwater pumps can not be tied in with the sewer besides being against code its very unhealthy and increases the probability of experiencing a back up. We do understand dealing with plumbing issues can be very frustrating and can lead to a misrepresentation of circumstances. However I would like to ask that some of the facts be acknowledged. 1. The repipe was quoted to reroute the drain line away from the pump station and tie in directly to the sewer 2. That the amount quoted was significantly less than what was stated in the review 3. Attention was given to the drain pipe for the kitchen sink.

Had Master Blaster come out to give us a quote on replacing a sewage pump for our downstairs toilet. The man was very friendly & professional; however, the quote was nearly $800 more than what Total Plumbing quoted us! Needless to say, did not choose to go with Master Blaster. Still amazed at the price discrepancy. Make sure to always get a second quote - even if you have to pay for the visit - it can obviously save you a lot!
Description of Work: Had no services done as I was grossly over-quoted on price!

Thank you for taking the time to review our company. It is unfortunate to learn of your experience. I would like to communicate with you on the specifics of this job so all of us can understand the difference in price. At Master Blaster we do intend to maintain competitive pricing and we strive to provide the best value for your dollar. We do not want people to be denied the high skill level of our staff over a miscommunication. I encourage you to get all over your bids together first then invite us to give a written estimate. The plumber who was assigned to this particular job has an incredible background and its possible he saw something our competition did not. That is of course just an opinion until we get a chance to follow up with you. Please feel free to contact me at 303-762-1211 or email [email protected] I would appreciate the opportunity to earn back your business.

Sent email through their website to schedule service for a clogged pipe/drain (water from shower or toilets was backing up through floor drain in basement). Email was sent on Thurs night and I was called first thing in the morning about scheduling visit. Was told that they could come between 3 and 5pm and would call later to give more accurate time. They called me around 3pm to say that technician was running late, but would be there within the hour. Snow began falling harder outside, so they called before 4pm to say that snow was messing up traffic, but tech was still on his way. In the meantime, I found their $79 discount on Angie's List, called to make sure that it would be acceptable before buying it and got confirmation. (The technician later mentioned that just that morning there had been discussion to end that discount offer, but assured me that as I had already purchased the coupon, he would surely honor it.) Joe finally arrived just before 5pm (so still within their promised time). He quickly assessed what needed to be done, but as there was no direct access to the main line (all pipes are under floor or between walls) he would need to remove a toilet. He explained that was an additional charge of $69 and got my OK before going ahead with anything. Joe was very personable and helped by explaining how to prevent this problem in the future. Even explained how I might make an access point for the pipes, so any other time a plumber wouldn't need to remove a toilet to do the job. I very much appreciate Joe's work and attitude and also the attentiveness of the customer service people (Crystal & Lenay ?) who kept me informed of when he would arrive and answered all my questions. Altogether, the whole experience was better (and easier) than I could have expected.
Description of Work: Cleaned out clog in main line between house and sewer. Needed to remove toilet in order to access the main line. Whole service took about one hour.

When I called for an appointment I inquired as to a cost estimate, I was told that would be determined by the technician. The technician told me his boss set the price, I was very surprised that he did not bring or have parts to replace defective item needed and had to make a run to get parts. I was given and quote and it was later changed after it was determined that I needed a whole new part to stop the leak. next time I will make sure that the diagnosis is complete before I authorize service.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We regret to hear when someone isn’t completely satisfied with our service from beginning to end. I also understand how frustrating it can be to not have your toilet functioning properly. Perhaps if I can offer my opinion as to why other parts need to be replaced in a toilet it could help to restore your faith in Master Blaster. When you are dealing with a gravity toilet ( this is the standard most people have) there are 3 sections that can fail. 1 is the water supply which includes shuts off, supply tube and fill valve. You may hear the fill valve referred to as a ballcock. Sometimes the fill valve fails with age or is exposed to high mineral content. They can also fail due to high pressure. Once the fill valve shows us that it has failed either by not supplying water or failing to shut off and the water level rises to the set level. Then the shut off going to the toilet needs to be turned off. Many times these valves have not been exercised enough or fail for another reason. Which may lead to needing additional work. The second is the flush valve. On a few occasions I have seen the fill valve continue to run (which can give the appearance that the fill valve has failed) because the flush valve has a worn out gasket. Sometimes it's merely the flapper which allows water to seep thru. One could easily see a flapper that is worn out and propose that as a possible solution. The flush valve replacement is a bit more involved and requires the tank to be removed on most toilets. I do recommend always having a professional do this if you have not had enough experience working with them. Again a high mineral content in the water supply can damage flapper’s and tank to bowl gaskets. Another tip is to avoid using in tank cleaning tablets as I have seen them destroy gaskets many times. The third section is the trigger which is linked to the flapper by a small chain. This runs up to a arm which is angles to pass thru the porcelain to the handle on the outside. Again the nut can be tricky as they can be reverse threaded and its not a bad idea to have a professional work on it. From time to time I have seen these fail due to the arm being positioned too far down or bent at a dysfunctional angle. Most of us have heard about fixing the toilet by adjusting the length of the chain. That comes into play here. These are of course just my opinions based on my own experiences. There can be different ways for toilets to fail. I also want to point out its common for additional problems to be found while work is in progress. The Staff here has been At Master Blaster we do intend to offer the best solution at a competitive price. Many people would prefer to have toilets and faucets repaired if possible and we are absolutely willing and able to help. Please feel free to call us with any questions 303-761-1211 or email [email protected]

Plumber was prompt and professional and answered all of my questions. Work was done in an efficient manner and he cleaned up and gave me tips on preventing the problem in the future.
Description of Work: Diagnosed cause of water coming up out of overflow drain in basement utility room. Determined it was soap residue and food particles and verified this was cause of the flooding by emptying out a full kitchen sink and putting washer in spin cycle simultaneously. The plumber snaked out the piping starting at kitchen sink area and found debris upon retrieving the snake line. Tested sink/washer again and water did not come up again. Recommended snaking the line every couple of years and treating line with bacterial enzyme product monthly.

As I described the brand of H2O heater, he explained that particular brand would probably last 8-12 years - we've had it for 9.5 which reassured me that we could wait until the warmer weather for a test and/or a replacement. I'm thinking plumbers are the new lawyers in people's minds but if I have plumbing problems - I mean if my house has - I'll call Master Blaster.
Description of Work: Talked with Craig at Master Blaster about having our water heater checked using an Angie's List coupon. He explained patiently and thoroughly why I could save by not purchasing the coupon until after the technician came out. If work needed to be done, I could buy the coupon at that time and use it.

I had two very slow moving, almost totally clogged drains that needed immediate attention: a laundry tub drain and the family tub/shower drain. Within 2 hours of my phone call (price was given over the phone!), I had a clean cut, uniformed, extremely knowledgeable technician out to clean out both drains. He was at my house for about 1 1/2 hours and cleaned the drains thoroughly. I will definitely use this company again!

We recently purchased a HUD home and this place was a mess. We called for 3 different plumbing services to give us a quote and Jeremy came out from Master Blaster. Other companies were vague about the cost of the job because of there were several services that needed to be done and talked about how much time they would spend, but Jeremy was able to give us clear cut figures which is helpful for a family on a budget. Jeremy also helped my husband with installing our bathroom vanity and gave him some helpful hints on various aspects to the plumbing job he performed. Be prepared for a few trips to Home Depot to pick up some pieces, but Jeremy tells you exactly what to pick up and it is worth the time to do it because he quoted us the best price and did not complain or worry us with any of the difficulties he encountered. He did his job and did it well. We will use Master Blaster in the future!

Since I had already purchased the bulk of fixtures and supplies necessary, my goal was to find a professional plumbing company that would charge by the hour vs. by the project. The most important thing to me was to hire expertise. Unfortunately, Master Blaster's business model prices out by project rather than a specific hourly rate. This did not fit my plumbing requirements. I have had a number of unpleasant experiences in the past going this route and did not want to have a similar experience. I'm sure this business model works well for some customers who want an exact dollar amount regardless of the project timeframe, but it's not for me.

Saw them on Angies List, mostly good reviews. Hot water heater pressure relief valve was leaking intermitently. Jose came out the afternnoon of Dec 20th, 2012. He opened a valve at the bottom of the water heater, saw a little rusty water come out, and immediately said our 6 year old hot water heater was ruined - due to falty instalation. He then gave us a quote for $1650 to replace it. He was nice (as most con-men are) and seemed shocked when I said I needed to talk it over with my wife. We did some research and found out that it is very normal for hot water heaters to have some rusty water in them. We called GE and they sent us a free new pressure relief valve. We then called Zane Michalko - who put it in and cleared two drains in one hour for $115. I would never recommend this business. I have it when companies take advantage of people and try to sell them expensive solutions they don't need. Further evidence of this is that I asked Jose to give a quote on cleaning our drains. He said someone would call us the next day. Obviously, since we didn't bite the first time, they never even bothered to give us a drain cleaning quote. Now, I will always check Yelp as well as Angies list - and always get a second opinion on anything expensive. I am so suprised this company has relatively good Angies list reviews. Pehaps they have changed how they do business for the worst.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, I would like to extend an apologize for any bad experience you may have had with our company. Any time there are multiple opinions on the right way to proceed when dealing with water heaters this can be very frustrating for the consumer. Of course if there’s ever an issue with any estimate one of our highly skilled plumbers does please feel free to call our office 303-761-1211 or email [email protected] . We do truly care about all of our customers and work to improve the customer service experience all the time. The research process is still in effect, there are some obvious differences between this report and what is reflected on the invoice. The water heater was infact 10 years old according to our information. A typical lifespan for a standard natural gas fired water heater is 8 to 12 years. Given how older water heaters can develop different problems the option of a full replacement with a multi year guarantee is a reasonable solution. We always encourage people to get good information before making a final decision. We also understand that as an Angie's List member there is a higher expectation to offer a successful solution. In addition we are always happy to help with clogged drains just give us a call or email and we will prove it. Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain LLC has put lots of effort into being one of the most competitive companies on pricing. I also feel it is important to note that the customer did mention another plumber by name in the review which could lead one to believe that it was written by one of our competitors. There is only one way to find out the truth about Master Blaster and that is to give us a try. Then you will know how we maintained such a high rating for so long.

The technician arrived on the scheduled day for the estimate promply. The estimate was concise and details of the outlined work were accurate. The appointment to do the work was easily set and the technician arrived within the set time window, however, did not have the parts available to begin the job. The technician had not taken accurate material details at the time of the estimate. Another appointment was required, the technician was on time, and the work was completed in a timely manner. There have been no problems with the gas line installation. The fireplace gas logs were installed separately.

This was a big job that started when we noticed a leak in the basement. No interior damage, but the water line was leaking where it entered the house. MasterBlaster was called late afternoon on Wednesday and had a crew foreman out in under an hour. They gave us advice over the phone when we initially called ("call the city and have them turn the water off") and the foreman (Matt) handled all of the city stuff after that. Thursday morning, the crew showed up with the heavy equipment. They dug a 5' x 2' slab out of the driveway to get to the meter plumbing and another hole next to the house. Lots of heavy equipment and manual labor. They pulled the new line underground -- no trenching in the yard. Long day, but the water was running again on the new line by 8:30 PM. I think there was a scheduling conflict and they didn't get to the final cleanup until Saturday. In this last step, they reconnected the sprinkler system and filled in the holes (including a cement patch in the driveway). Complete cleanup, ready to use. I'm always a little leary of doing a job like this "on a handshake" but we never signed a thing up-front. What I was told on Wednesday was exactly what I paid almost a week later. We've now used MasterBlaster on four jobs (large and small). This was the largest. The smallest was a drain cleaning at my daughter's house where they cleared a 60' drain clog for $85. I've been pleased on all of these jobs and won't hesitate to use MasterBlaster again.

I read the reviews and called this plumber based on the reviews. I was happy they could come out today versus tomorrow as one of the showers was leaking. However i was not told ahead of time they had a minimum charge. After they couldn't find a leak (that I knew was there) that I was asked if I had any other plumbing issues because they had a minimum charge of $189. Talk about getting fleeced! I was able to come up with two other minor things. On top of the minimum charge I had to pay $16 for parts (okay understandable) AND a $59.95 service charge!! I will NOT use these folks again! Oh and the best part, the shower was run for about 10 minutes tonight and it started leaking!!

Your review is appreciated, Please know we are very concerned about what has been stated here. No one can remain employed here who communicates to our customers that we charge for jobs not yet discussed or offering to fix something that does not need to be repaired. I want to be very clear that if our plumbers are asked to track down leaks that are not obvious there are charges involved. Any bad experience a customer has is regrettable especially if there is a misunderstanding with a estimate. We encourage customers to call or email our office in the event they are confronted with anything they are not comfortable with. Many times we can correct problems immediately and continue with the technician completing the work we were called out to do and everyone can have clarity about what is being done and how that will be charged. We always seek to improve our performance and to correct any service issues that come up. For clarification to the issue with the shower leak, after watching the shower run for a period of time our plumber did not see any leaks. On many occassions water is splashed out of the tub shower onto the floor and leaks down thru openings in the corner or breaks in tile, caulking or grout. These types of leaks can be corrected by positioning the shower head at a different angle or adding a plastic triangular piece between the wall and the side of the tub. This was the opinion of the onsite plumber, he felt he identified the source of the leak. He did mention the handles on the shower were difficult to turn and asked our customer if she would like those repaired. He also asked if there was anything else our customer would like us to take care of while on site. There was an estimate for the work offered before anything was complete. He also offered to leave this customers home without charging any fees due to the source of the leak not requiring a pipe repair. She decided to have him complete the work at an agreed upon price. At Master Blaster we understand the holidays are the most financially stressful part of the year and its very easy for human beings to misunderstand each other. Please feel free to call our office if such misunderstandings occur during a service call.

I have used Master Blaster Plumbing three times since August 2012. They have been very polite, explaining the problems and helping me to avoid further issues. One time to check out my hot water heater that was spewing out brownish water. They advised me that I would need a new hot water heater, but when the water ran clear, they advised me that I could wait a few more months. The last 2 times they came out was to unblock my toilet. They were fast, efficient and I rely on them for every plumbing need. They are the best.
Description of Work: Called Master Blaster for brownish water coming out of the shower head. They advised me that I would need a new hot water heater, but could wait as the water was intermittently brown and clear. Called Master Blaster a few months later for a blocked toilet. They cleared it immediately and all has been well. Called Master Blaster today, 12/26/2012, just after lunch time, and they responded at 4:00 p.m. same day to fix another blockage. Tyler was great, and cleared it within minutes. He also showed me how to plunge the toilet for small issues in the future. They are great.

Service call 1: Repairs were to be accomplished in a condo high rise bathroom. Arrangements were made (seven day required building notice) for necessary building-wide water shut-down. The company was aware of the scope of work and that the work had to be accomplished within a three hour window while the water was turned off in the building. The plumber arrived an hour late and departed for almost an hour mid-service call to secure a common pipe attachment. The repairs were done well but were not completed within the three hour shut-off window. After the three-hour shutoff window expired the water had to be turned back off again so that the repairs could be tested. The repair work was done well but would have appreciated greater adherence to the time constraints inherent in a high-rise building. As well, repairs for a hot/cold water shut off valve replacement and replacement of a pipe that had worn threads were more expensive than anticipated. The plumber was courteous and pleasant. Service call 2: A new dishwasher that had been professionally installed resulted in a leak. Manny was courteous. knowledgable and professional. He arrived on time and fixed the problem at no charge in a manner that stopped the leak until a replacement dishwasher could be installed. Excellent service.
Description of Work: Two separate service calls: 1. Replace water turn off valves in bathroom. Repair tub spout pipe. 2. Repair leak in kitchen
