Overall we are happy with the result and the bathrooms look much better however I am giving this company a lower score based on other important factors that I think potential clients should be aware of. In the interest of making this less than 1000 pages long I am going to break down my comments into categories to help you understand the issues we faced so you have some good information before booking with them for your own job. Communication Communication with this company has been horrible. Originally we meet with Usher (a sales associate) who promised us things that Ben (the contractor) later had issues delivering on. It seemed like they weren't on the same page through the entire project. Usher would tell us we could have something then Ben would find a problem with it and we'd go back and forth causing delays and for some of the work to need to be redone. The other issue was with the items we had to purchase. Usher told us up front there were a few things we’d have to buy because they didn’t want to assume design liability. That was fine but most of the items we purchased (even though he told us what to get and where) the contractor had issues with installing causing more delays and multiple trips to home improvement stores to get what the contractor needed. It just seemed like Ben and Usher weren't on the same page even though Usher assured us in the beginning everyone his company hires would be. The same thing happened with the glass guy and the electrician. Usher eventually made good on all his promises (which was one of the only positive things to come out of this) but it didn't come without headaches and aggravation. About half way through the job they took Usher off our project and replaced him with Aviv who was much harder to deal with. Not only is he very difficult to understand on the phone but he refused to meet with us in person, cancelled several appointments without giving us proper notice and was hard to get in touch with. Overall it would have been nice to have one person designated as our contact point through-out the project who could have effectively expressed our wishes to everyone involved. I feel like I was always repeating my wishes to multiple people and answering questions that should have been answered by the company representative. Involvement When we originally met with Usher we told him what we were looking to have done and what our must haves were. I also expressed that I didn't want to be involved much outside of that. I was looking to hire a company that could come in and do a great job with minimal involvement from us. This was possibly the biggest disappointment we had and one of the main reasons this company is getting a low score. Usher assured us he would be working with everyone to make this as hands off for us as possible. That did not happen. We were constantly having to relay our wishes to several different people (arguing over what was promised at times) and had to fight/become actively involved to get what was originally promised both of which caused delays and added expenses to the project. As I said they were very good about wanting to make us happy but it didn't come without a struggle or without being talked to like they were doing us a favor by delivering on what they promised. I'm sorry but if you promise us something for a price and it ends up costing more that isn't my problem and it isn't unreasonable for us to ask you to stick to what you originally promised. It was a lot of stress and involvement, which is what I didn't want. When we started this project I was 12 weeks pregnant. The last thing I wanted was something else to do or to add more stress to my life. I don't think Usher was very up front about how involved we would need to be. They certainly don't seem equip to do a good hands off job and that is something I wish I would have known ahead of time. Now maybe we were more involved by choice at times but that was only because we wanted to make sure the job was done right. A responsibility I assumed MNM would take on but definitely didn’t. I feel like they were hoping to come in, do a subpar job, and have us be thrilled and not notice the work wasn't up to professional standards but that was not acceptable for us. My husband and I are not in the business but we know what looks good and there were several things that weren't up to the quality standards of a professional company and needed to be redone. When we brought up these concerns we were treated like we were being picky and like they were doing us a favor by redoing the work but, in my opinion as a professional company, shouldn’t you always want to do the best work possible? I think someone should have been by the house daily (or at least a couple times a week) to ensure the work was being done at the highest standards. No one came to check on the work until we brought up issues to them and then they agreed it should be done better. In my opinion we shouldn't have had to be the ones to bring that up. This project definitely could have benefited from a supervisor whose involvement providing communication and making sure professional standards were met would have made the project run a lot smoother. Timeline We originally met with Usher in October to get our quote. He told us he wanted to start November 2nd and estimated 3 weeks to complete both jobs. I was hesitant about starting around the holiday but being pregnant, wanted it finished before baby arrived so we agreed. The master wasn't completed until late December, the guest not until late January, and we were still dealing with 2 final issues well into March. I know we experienced delays but 4 months is a little ridiculous considering the original estimate of 3 weeks. My husband and I have gone out of our way to be available to them (whenever they needed to work) and feel we have been more than accommodating through-out the job. We seem like a priority for them when they are expecting a payment but after that the work is scheduled at their convenience with little regard for our schedules or needs. Professionalism The workers that came to the house were very nice and I believe did a pretty good job of being polite and respectable while in my home. However I do feel like they could have done a better job enclosing the work area so my home wouldn't be exposed to more dirt and debris than necessary. Being pregnant during this I was very concerned about being around airborne pollutants and that didn't seem to be a concern for them even though Usher assured me it would be. They covered our bedroom with tarp for the first couple days and then stopped. There was a two-inch layer of dust for several days in a row in our bedroom and, while sanding the guest bathroom, they didn't properly tarp the door so we ended up with dust going into our entire home. They also weren't consistent with putting paper down in the hallways so they were constantly walking through our home and into our bedroom with dirty shoes. Ben would often come in our home to check on something in the guest and just walk through to our bedroom to the master without asking my permission. I found that very off putting and intrusive. They made our guest room their personal storage area without asking permission and made an absolute disaster out if our porch using it to store materials even though I had asked them to keep things on the driveway. Even after both bathrooms were 98% finished they left materials and paint on our front porch. It wasn't until I brought it up someone that they finally asked if they could move the materials to the garage for us. Our front screen and door have stains on them, which I had to remove and there were several scuff/paint marks in the hallway, we had to ask them to fix. Those are the main points I wanted to get across. If you want a hassle free remodeling experience and you want your job done well (the first time) I would not recommend working with this company. However, if you like being hands on and involved they do pretty good work at a reasonable price and really do want to make their clients happy. Just be advised it might take some work on your part to get them there.
