Description of Work: Mr. Goodberg came to my home and spent the afternoon with me. We went to Best Buy and he helped me buy an iPad and he helped me buy a telephone. He helped me install an iPad and get everything set up. He was so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He was very reasonable in price. He makes sure everything is correct before leaving.

Oversaw the installation of internet cable by Time Warner, which resulted in installation of the appropriate cable for our home given the distance between the modem and the cable connection to the telephone pole. Description of Work: He did not listen to what we wanted or needed even though a list was provided. He actually called apple help line for 45 min on an issue we did not need & charged us for most of time. Bait and switch with add. Charged addl $70. Waste of time & money.

This member is completely unreasonable and is lying about how his service call went. He bought a $49 Big Deal coupon for one hour of labor, and yet presented us with 4 broken computers to fix when we arrived. His "list" was: fix all this within one hour! Impossible, although we tried. He paid NOTHING for the time we spent on the phone with Apple. We gave him a 50% discount on the labor we provided him that was in excess of what he bought with the coupon. For this, he rewards us with a nasty review. Glad we will not be going back to this member.

All I wanted them to do was configure my brother printer settings, which they said they were unable to do. My computer was old but it was still working and running. After about an hour they said the computer is too old you need a computer. (by the way, a client of mine - NOT an computer expert by trade - came over and configured the printer in 20 minutes, leading me to believe that they had no intention of honoring the deal I bought.) They said they had a refurbished computer I could buy. It wound up costing me $600.00. One of my clients came over the other night who is not a computer expert by trade and within 20 minutes he had the printer configured perfectly. I ended up with a year old computer that took them days to set up and transfer data taking up my valuable time. In one instance I was upset when I could not find my emails. I called and he was terse and condescending saying, "for christ sake its all on there!' that they could be accessed online. However, he did not upload my email operating system which I prefer and used before. I do not want to deal with him anymore, even though I am having issues with this refurbished computer I purchased from him. I tried to troubleshoot this myself and it was giving me more than a hard time for almost a whole day. I called him twice and sent two texts messages with no response. I was looking at the card that said all work guaranteed. They haven't called me back still and it has been four days. I feel like they got my money from me and I left a positive review which was encouraged at the first meeting and now they are not responding. Basically I feel like I got bait and switched. It's now been months, the computer gets worse and worse. It freezes with a milky white haze over the screen several times a day. When I called them, their answer was "I just don't think we can service you anymore" and hung up on me!

We regret that you are not satisfied with the refurbished computer that you purchased from us on October 15, 2012. At this unhappy juncture let it be noted that: 67% of your reviews on Angie's List are rated "D". THE HISTORY: At the conclusion of our service to you in October of 2012, you had published an all "A" rated review of our completed work for you. One week later you called, angry and crying, saying your files were all missing. We provided 30 minutes of free phone support to help you successfully find your files which were NOT missing. We were polite and patient, you were loud and unreasonable. Three months later you left an incoherent message on our answering machine at 9 P.M. on a Sunday night. You did not request any help, and you were not making any sense on the message. Since that time we heard nothing from you until we got a notice from Yelp that you had published a review accusing us of conspiracy against you. That same day, you called us, yelling on the phone. We told you then that we could no longer provide service to you due to your abusive behavior. YOUR WARRANTY: Your refurbished computer came with a 90 day HARDWARE ONLY warranty from us. This is the same industry standard warranty that Dell offers on its NEW computers. That means that if during those first 90 days, the hard drive crashed, or the video card failed, or the power supply needed replacing, we would have repaired that for you at no charge. We discussed the terms of this warranty with you before you bought it. We received no claim for hardware failure from you during this warranty period. You are not making any specific claim even now, 9 months later. According to your own words, the computer works, you just "don't like it". After using this computer for 9 months, your request to get all your money back for it is entirely unreasonable. Here is our understanding of the facts of what we did for you: THE SERVICE: You purchased an Angie's List Big Deal coupon from us for $49 for 45 minutes of diagnostic service. We began work for you on October 10, 2012. You thought you had a printer problem because you couldn't get your Brother printer to assign paper drawers in a custom manner. Our diagnosis revealed that your printer was fine, but your very old PC was corrupted and the drive was close to failure. We spent 2 hours with you that day detailing our professional opinion of what your options might be. We did not charge you anything more that day than the $49 coupon you had purchased, thus saving you $175 in labor charges. You declined to purchase a new computer because you did not want to spend that much money. You declined repair of your old PC, because the labor involved to do this exceeded its residual value. We offered you the Gateway, with file transfer, installation of all your programs, and configuration of your profile. We worked over a weekend at no extra charge to you to get the computer ready for delivery for the following Monday, as you had requested it in time for the work week. We installed the computer that next Monday, connected it to your home internet service, installed the printer, and sat with you while you operated the computer, got your email, found all your files, and printed. We did not leave until you told us that you were satisfied, and your comment was that "this Gateway computer is so much faster than my old PC." We did NOT trouble shoot the custom printer function as we told you we were unfamiliar with this specific problem. At your request, you suggested that you had a friend who could help you with this. We are glad that after using the refurbished Gateway, your friend was able to solve your printer configuration problem. OUR CONCLUSION: We have provided professional service to you in good faith. You received a 90 day hardware warranty during which time you made no claims. Your Gateway computer continues to function even now, 9 months after you bought it. We cannot offer to refund your money, as there is no legal, moral, or otherwise legitimate basis for your request. You have unfortunately demonstrated such unhinged and aggressive personal behavior that we don't feel we can provide service to you without putting ourselves at risk. We have been repairing computers since 1982. We have wonderful, long lasting relationships with most of the clients we have worked for. If you read the more than 30 all "A" reviews on our profile, including several Page of Happiness reviews, you will see proof of the standards of our professional work. Our conclusion is that unfortunately you will never be satisfied with our work, and that your request to Angie's List is entirely unreasonable, and not in conformation with normal business practices. We would love to offer you some kind of help because we want our customers to be happy, but due to the difficulty with your behavior we can't think of anything that we could do for you at this point.

The story has been told. If you want someone to analyze, consider and then do, and do it well, give Ira and Bonnie a call.
Description of Work: I called Ira when my ancient PC gave it up. After determining my needs he made suggestions for a new computer (Mac) which he would set up with my old data. Because the old one died, getting this data was not so easy and required a bit of technical skill, artistry and some wizardry. With Bonnie keeping track of the steps, in case something went wrong, everything came out just as promised. When he transferred data from my ol laptop into the new computer, he noticed some malware and other problems, which he went out of his way to pick up, fix and drop off at no extra charge. A service business indeed, without jargon or geek speak, so anyone can understand what's happening.

After reading reviews on Angie's List and calling a couple companies, they were the first to answer the phone directly. We made the appointment the next day. They were prompt, courteous, and very knowledgeable. My problems were solved. They went above and beyond what I requested.
