Description of Work: My wife and I want to remodel our kitchen. Through Angie's List we contacted Crowworks and arranged to meet at our home for a consultation and estimate. Crow was prompt, very pleasant and professional. He provided us with an overall high level estimate of what the job would cost us and made worthwhile suggestions on variables such as flooring, cabinetry, counter-tops, etc. We appreciated Crow's approach and demeanor, unlike others who gave us the hard sell, like your typical car salesman. When my wife are ready for the kitchen remodel, Crowworks will be the company we choose.

Description of Work: This my first time using Angie's List and I'm disappointed with my experience. I asked Crowworks to come to my home to do an estimate for a laundry room. We e-mailed back and forth for a week, and then settled on an appointment for l/5/12 @ 7:15pm. When I got home at 5:30pm, "Crow" had left a message saying he had accepted a 5-month project and he decided that I probably wouldn't want to wait that long to get my project done, so he was cancelling our appointment. I didn't have a time line, I just wanted an estimate. A true professional would have kept the appointment and let me decide if I could wait for their availablity.

Description of Work: Crow has come and done work for us before in the bathroom and also currently plumbing. He is always available and will give advice and support often for free. He has also told us how to save money by doing some things by ourselves. He is honest, hardworking, fast, and thorough. We will continue to use his services for everything. He even came out and reviewed saudering today with my husband on a project so we did not have to hire him! I have never seen that before.

+ 8 moreRight from the start Crow gave us great advice about different options and how we could stick to our budget. He was very respectful of our need to keep costs down, and helped figure out how to do things so that we could save money. For example, Crow took out a medicine cabinet that had been built into the wall, and when he installed the new cabinets he placed them so that they covered the hole the old cabinet had left, so that we wouldn't need to deal with fixing the hole. He gave excellent design advice and was very patient about helping us select wall color. He was on time every day, returned my phone calls immediately, explained things to the extent that I wanted them explained, was cheerful even when having to reinstall the toilet every night (we only have one bathroom), and was nice to my kid. And the bathroom looks beautiful -- very professional work.
Description of Work: We updated our bathroom: floor, sink, toilet, lighting. We installed a fan. We didn't replace the tub, but did replace the fixtures. Crow did the entire project.

Description of Work: I called because a breaker had popped out in the circuit breaker box. He told me he could not come out as he is booked for months but had me tell him the problem. He had me walk to the box and talked me through pushing it back in. All is now working.

+ 13 moreI was very happy with the high quality of Crow's work, his design sense, and the smoothness of the whole process. Crow was very attentive to both practical details (e.g. shelf heights and my kids' heights) and aesthetic details -- he totally understood what I was looking for. The bathroom and kitchen turned out absolutely beautiful -- even better than I envisioned -- and are also much more functional than before. I liked the way Crow involved me in design decisions but also offered excellent advice and suggestions. In addition to his fine workmanship and design sense, I was grateful for Crow's attention to staying on budget, his excellent communication and people skills (e.g. negotiating between my husband and my differences of opinion!), and his cheerfulness and easiness to work with. I had never had any major work done on my house before and I was expecting it to be a big hassle -- lots of decisions and lots of disruptions -- but Crow made the whole thing easy -- even fun! Everything was always cleaned up at the end the day, and throughout the kitchen remodel, I never missed a night of cooking. I really liked the way that Crow could do all aspects of the projects, from design to plumbing. I hope to bring him back to work on other rooms in the house and I'll recommend him to my friends.
Description of Work: Crow remodeled our bathroom and did a partial remodel of the kitchen. In the bathroom, Crow stripped the room to the studs, removed part of a shower wall to open up the space, reconfigured doors, installed a tubular skylight, and put in beadboard, tile, flooring, shelves, lights, and a new pedestal sink and medicine cabinet. In the kitchen, Crow put in a new gas stove and added cabinets, shelves, and trim. He and his assistant Ryan also painted everything inside and out. While in the middle of the bathroom remodel, we discovered a leak in the other bathroom and Crow fixed that for us, saving us about $400 compared to what the plumber wanted to charge us. He also helped us with a couple other small jobs (e.g. moving / replacing a door) in other parts of the house.

+ 2 moreThis is one of several jobs that he has done for us. He re-designed our upper deck by rotating a metal spiral staircase, vastly improving our access to the lower deck. He oversaw the refurbishing of over 2100 sq. ft. of our redwood decks, keeping in mind our budget for the project. He re-designed and built our back porch which now opens access to all of our garden. He replace all four of our toilets - access to the pipes was inconvenient - and an ordinary plumber would have taken twice as many hours to finish the task. And Crow hourly fee is 60% of what our plumber charges. Crow is fast, smart, reliable and I would always consult and hire him for creative work. The only downside, is: he is much demand. We had to wait nearly a year for him to be available to work for us the first time. I am so glad we did not give up on waiting for him!
Description of Work: Crow turned our old woodburning fireplace into a gas heater which is actually now a beautiful stainless steal scupture. Surprisingly, he has not yet published the photo of this work on his website.

Description of Work: Crow remodeled my bathroom. I had a tight budget and he made sure that the work was performed within the budget constraints. He did an excellent job, giving recommendations and completing all the purchasing (tile, tub, sink, toilet). He cleaned up every day and I had use of my toilet throughout the project.

Description of Work: Crow remodeled our bathroom from a complete gut-job: electrical, plumbing, tile work, toilet, shower & vanity. Because we loved his work, we extended the project to a bedroom remodel that included the installation of a custom closet wall unit, replacing a wall that had been removed by the previous owner and installing sliding glass doors in the adjacent room.

+ 10 moreThe main bathroom remodel involved gutting the entire space down to the studs. We replaced the tub and shower over the tub, which included moving the plumbing and the tub drain to the opposite wall. To accomplish this, one of the windows had to be removed. The exterior wall need to be restuccoed. The new copper plumbing was run through the attic above. The new, half shower door was perfectly installed. Crow helped in the selection and ordering of all new materials: vanity cabinet, marble countertop, sink, plumbing and light fixtures, tile, under cabinet heater, toilet, etc. The job was perfectly executed in a timely manner and without one hitch. We adore our new bathroom and so do our guests! Crow has also created and fabricated two art items for my garden.
Description of Work: Crow completed a number of projects for my husband and I over the past five years including a complete bathroom remodel and remodeling a second story sun porch requiring installation of all new windows on three walls. He arrived every day promptly at 8:00 with a smile on his face. Everything was cleaned up at the end of each day before he left. He accomplished feats that astounded me. I still can't figure out how he lifted three walls worth of new windows from the ground up to the second story sunporch without damaging the landscaping below and without a scratch! He is very artistic and creative in his work and finds imaginative solutions to challenging situations. Great communication skills. Highly recommended.

+ 18 moreMy children and I were occupying the house at the time so I had a need for control over where construction was taking place at a given time. Crow took every precaution to make sure all areas were safe and was able to manage everything perfectly. He was exactly what I wanted, someone I could trust to take care of the job with a particular eye for design and small detail and the ability to perform the job. He is also very personable which made things just that much nicer. There were a multitude of details to work through and Crow took the burden off my shoulders and worked with the county offices as well as architects and engineers. At one point in the job, the county decided that my engineer was wrong on some calculations for a load bearing member and it was after it had already been installed, again, Crow handled everything so that I had no worries. Bottom line, I was and am happy with the work performed here and I have recommended Crow to my friends and family, now I'll recommend him to you.
Description of Work: I had a couple of bad experiences before Crowworks so when we originally started the project, the scope was just installation of crown molding. He did an excellent job so I continued to use him and kept him here for a year and we completed the remodel of the entire house. The entire scope of the remodel was a downstairs room of about 300 sq' with an attached bathroom of about 120 sq' which contained extensive stone work, custom plumbing and lighting as well as glass enclosure. Engineered hardwood was used for flooring in the room. A new stairway was also built. An upstairs bathroom with custom stone work, extensive plumbing (electronic controls), custom cabinetry, custom glass enclosure, custom arched ceiling, and a large bay window. A mid level kitchen/dining/living room with load bearing members re-configured to create a great room, custom audio/video was installed in the living room, extensive lighting throughout, granite counters, custom cabinetry, hvac, window and door replaced, and an arched wall entering the kitchen. Engineered hardwood was used in the living room and slate was used in the kitchen for flooring. The garage was also remodeled with a nook for a laundry area, electronics hubs for cable, phone, and network (you'd have to see it to believe it). New sub panels were added and amperage was bumped up to 200A. All wiring in the entire house was replaced with 12 gauge romex.

We told him the general idea of what we wanted, and he skillfully and creatively filled in the blanks. He was very flexible and accommodated our requests. His estimates were accurate and he was professional and a good human being. We plan to ask him to remodel our other bathroom and kitchen.
