It went great. They were able to see us the next day after we called. They came promptly, fixed the problem (as much as it could be fixed without removing the new toilet we'd just installed), and did a rapid and very neat job. Nice guy, too! (and he told us something about using both our old and new toilets that we never knew! Holding down the handle vs. just tapping the handle, depending on the flushing need. He also recommended the least clog-worthy toilet paper -- Angel Soft). A very positive experience all around.

We were absolutely thrilled with the service we received! Service Technician, James White gave us a 20 minute call ahead and arrived earlier than the estimated time given by dispatch. He cleared the toilet clog and replaced the water fill valve with efficiency and professionalism. We were impressed by his knowledge, friendliness and strong work ethic. I woke up this morning and discovered that my entire first floor was flooded due to an obstruction in my main drain line out from the house to the city connection. I called a couple of other services who offered to come to my house the next day or at the end of the day. Due to the urgency, I kept calling other services and discovered Affordable Drain Service. Chris (dispatch) was quick to answer the phone, asked what my needs were and gave me a service window that was within a couple of hours from my call. Within an hour or so of my initial call, I received an update call from Chris on when I should expect a call from the Technician that was finishing up a job near my house. Soon after that call, I received a call from Mathew who was in-route to my house and gave me a 20 minute window on his estimated arrival time. He showed up on time and immediately got to work. He reviewed everything that took place and concluded that the main drain line was likely the problem. Mathew's equipment and tools were organized and modern. He explained everything he was doing throughout the entire process which I appreciated. The drain cleared and he completed the process by using the snake router along with a strong water stream from a hose a few more times to make sure there was no further obstruction in the line. Mathew was professional, confident, on time and certainly knew what he was doing. It was clear to me that he enjoys his job and takes pride in his work. Communication from Chris at the dispatch office as well as Mathew was exemplary and very much appreciated given that I was desperate for help at the time. The value for the service I experienced as excellent! I would definitely recommend using this company for drain service.

Everything went great! Dispatch was able to schedule us for a same day evening appointment. Service professionals, Ryan Kiernan and Robert Verdugo, arrived promptly after giving us a 15 minute call ahead. They were knowledgeable and did a fantastic job! They unclogged the drain quickly for a fair price and I was seriously grateful. We will use them again in the future.

Ryan utilized the cleanout closest to the kitchen and cleared the line of suspected roots, repeating several times, to the main. He then tested it and it was and is draining well. He informed me that he suspected roots; He cleaned up thoroughly after the job. Ryan was very helpful and informative and knows his job well. I used my Angie's list coupon and the price was very reasonable. I have 3 cleanouts in my home, and need the camera at a later date (after tree removal). Will definitely give Affordable Plumbing another call in the future.

I loved them. I was very pleased. They were great at calling me back. They arranged for Jonathan to come out the same day. I know I thought it was extremely affordable. There was an service charge. It wasn't exorbitant. Most people were already scheduled. I think there was something happening. Maybe an storm. There were a lot of demand for plumbing services. They stepped up to the plate. I was exceedingly happy. He wasn't here long, and he took care of the problem. He knew I was an happy camper when he drove away. I told him that I would write an recommendation. I am coming late to the party. I meant to give an shout out to them. They totally stepped up to the plate. I know they were doing their best to get somebody there as soon as possible. Seems to me he even put on booties, and it wasn't even raining. I was pleased. They came on an weekend. I called and had to leave message. I put four to five other calls. He was one of two that responded at all. They were the only company that was able to come, and did come. It was an weekend, it was the same day.

Received a call from Seth about 25 minutes. Seth came on time, and had our drain clog cleared in less than ten minutes. Professional & Friendly, Very impressive!!! A reasonable cost. Will now use Affordable for all of my plumbing problems. Bill Bailey

Had it handled in 25 minutes. The minimum charge I was quoted $112 was the final price.

Our downstairs toilet was severely backing up and plumbers helper repeatedly applied would not do the job. Sewer line even started backing up into the shower well in that bathroom, at which point I knew the problem was beyond the toilet. The shower well had an inch or more of very sticky sewage backed up into it. I called Affordable Drain Service and relayed the problem to them. They said they could have someone at our home in about one to three hours and they would call before arriving. I was called twice. Once was to let me know that someone would be on the way to my home in about 15 minutes. About a half hour alter, I received a call from Seth who said he would be at my home in about 15-20 minutes. Seth arrived about 2:00 p.m. and after hearing my story and assessing the situation went to work. He snaked the main line to no avail. He then removed the bathroom shower drain cover and placed about 55 feet of snake into the sewer line. That cleared the line and he went about cleaning up, especially the very stinky shower well. He was very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable about what needed to be done. He was here approximately one hour. I cannot complement Seth highly enough for a job well done. I would highly recommend this firm given my experience with them.

I have used this company for seven years at two different residences. As a side note, I had another company come out to our previous home and was told they would need to break through a wall connecting the two bathrooms for a charge of over $900! I contacted Affordable. They sent someone out immediately and he discovered that the master bathroom toilet was almost completely blocked with roots. After clearing the drain I never had another problem at that residence. I needed their services again a few weeks ago at our current home. In less than 20 minutes the problem was solved. They have always responded quickly and their rates are lower than most. Even with such low rates their work is exemplary. In my experience every tech they've sent has been super friendly, honest and fair, which is really important to me. I also appreciate that they come all the way down here to the So. Bay. I will continue to use Affordable Drain and highly recommend them to friends and family.

Seth advised that he may be able to fix both problems with clearing the laundry room first. Once cleared the laundry drain did not solve the kitchen problem. Seth then cleared the kitchen drain. Both drains are now working great. Our plumber Seth did a great job. I know we will use Affordable Drain Service for any future drain problems

Michael came out on time and was very polite, professional and took care of the problem. He was careful to keep everything clean and answered all of my questions. I will definitely call Affordable Drain Service the next time we have drain issues.

The tech did a good job clearing out my kitchen sink drain. He was very efficient. I called and scheduled on the same day which was a Sunday. He arrived within the time window given to me over the phone. I chose to have the work done on a weekend even with the x1.5 rate. I suggest that the company update its Angie's List 15% off coupon if it isn't accepted on weekends. I'd still recommend Affordable Drain Service as their rates are competitive and service is great.

The Affordable Drain guy did excellent work and helped me understand the layout of my sewer pipe. He also helped me dig for the line where the issue was. Unfortunately, there was no riser from the tee with the city line at a reasonable depth and he had to leave for the next call, but before that time we managed to dig down about two feet. I finished the digging a couple of days later myself. It turned out the tee (and the place of the obstruction) was within an inch or two horizontally from the mapped surface point. It was at the approximate depth determined by his equipment: four feet. When I removed the tree root that was causing the trouble, the line still didn't drain properly so I had them out again to do a rooter job from the tee. The second guy showed up promptly and cleared the drain. I installed a new riser with a cap and haven't had any trouble since (four months as of this writing). The cost of service listed was for the first call only. The second call was an additional charge, but still fair.

Pros: Quick service, nice attitude on the technician, did exactly what I asked quickly Cons: Bait and switch pricing, running the business through his phone while at my house and charging me for it, never saying that the quote over the phone was different than the price I would be charged, not telling me that the hours he spent on the phone and working at the already solved problem were actually going to cost me more money, leaving saying the job was not complete and needed to come back out with cameras and a larger crew (when the job was complete), offering token discounts off a bill still way larger than what was quoted over the phone and in person, disputing the events by the owner (?Dan?) over the phone and justifying why the tech should be charging me MORE than what he did, essentially calling me a liar over the phone. Longer version: I called Saturday for a mainline back up. I had had this issue before and my regular plumber was not available. I needed 100-120 ft snake run through some roots in the front yard. Received quoted price twice over the phone and once in person of $250 for going in the roof and $200 for the toilet pull. I said lets try the toilet pull. Tech started the work but then immediately was receiving phone calls and messages through out the whole time he was here. I told him to take whatever time he needed, offered him something to drink etc.. When he was able to get the second drum on the snake he ran it all the way out (?150ft) and pulled it back. (this is when the job was completed) then he tried again and said he hit something at ~130ft. I asked if he had tried to run water down it since he cleared the pipe at 150ft already, he said he did and could still see it in the bottom of the pipe. I went to the lowest spot in the house (garage basin) and saw it was clear, ran 20 gallons of hot water down and saw everything was moving fine. I couldn't find the tech. He was outside on the phone again. He apologized for being on the phone for so much, said that he was responsible for all the calls tonight and that it was a crazy night, one guy (tech maybe?) had failed to show up and didn't call. I was understanding. He kept trying to snake the pipe since he said he still saw water in it (which maybe he did, but the mainline was clear non-the-less). I suggested he try running water down it, he balked at that. More calls, more snaking, more me saying "do what you got to do". Finally he came to me and said he could spend all night here but he didn't know what was wrong and that it would be really expensive. I told him to stop at this point. This is the first time anyone had said the quoted price would change. He left sorry and saying that they could be out Monday with a camera to inspect the line. He gave my an invoice for $350 a full $150 over the quote. He said he didn't charge for the cost of the second drum (which I specifically asked for on the quote) and he took off one half hour. So total was 2.5 hours, $200 for the first 1.5 hours and $150 for the next hour. I questioned him about that, he was sorry, said he had to charge his time to something, can't spend 3 hours at a site and not charge for it. It was seven PM, I had 2 week old twins, a toddler and a wife standing 15 feet away so I signed the bill and paid instead of fighting over it. I did two things right after he left. I called the office immediately to discuss and left a message and I ran hot water down every faucet in the house for 10 minutes with no issue. I called again on Sunday and left a message. Finally spoke to someone Monday who said that if it were up to her she wouldn't have given me any discounts and that I should be happy with the bill as-is. I asked to talk to someone else. Shortly after that Dan(?) called me back and I discussed the above. He did not once look at it from my side. He even had the audacity to say that he didn't charge me for HIS time when the technician call him at his house that night to ask for advice! I suggested that he discuss this with his tech or look at the number of hours his tech was on the phone and not working my job, he evaded saying it was not possible. Yet they have GPS on the truck and knew he was at my house from 3:50 to 6:50PM. Dan repeatedly asked me if I thought it was fair for them to work at my house for 3 hours and get paid $200 for it which works out to $66/hour and no one works for that much. I restated my argument repeatedly, 1) I got a quote for a job, a specific need that I knew would solve it, 2) the technician solved it very early on, did not admit it and kept working 3) the technician was on the phone for way over an hour running the call center for the night and charge me for that. After running through the argument 3 or 4 times with Dan I hung up. And here we are. If they had quoted me $500 I would have paid it. I need the line clear and was pretty desperate. But they didn't work on my problem while they were here, or respect me when I called to discuss... so this.

Called at about 10:00 PM and they said it would be double time. $224 for main line. I waited until the next day and called shortly after 8:00 AM. They arrived around 11:00 and cleaned the main line. They did a fine job on the main line. However when it came time to clean the remaining lines the tech got out this very small hand held snake with a very short line on it. The drains only drained slightly better. I had another company out several weeks after that to install a new garbage disposal. He ran a 2 inch snake for 75 feet from my kitchen line. What a difference. My drains work like new. I had used affordable drain in the past and they did a fine job. This time I was disappointed with the work performed on the house drains. I am not sure if I would use them again.

Had some trouble setting up the appointment; company has some issues with returning phone calls and keeping jobs straight. But the actual doing went very well. Technician (and a trainee) showed up on-time, diagnosed issues quickly, unclogged drain and (somehow, I never actually saw it) unstuck the drain auger I'd wedged in there. These guys were great, particularly in comparison to the first bunch who'd been out to the house and charged us *more* for not actually achieving anything (see other review if you'd like details).
