Guzman Contractors

He came to give the estimate and in the middle of the estimate he said that he had so many jobs lined up because of the special he was running on Angie's list that he wouldn't be able to do my remodel for at least 3 months. He never called me back and never provided me with an estimate.

Everything went well, but I decided to postpone the work since the cost didn't fit into my budget.

Carlos thoroughly reviewed our project and incorporated all of our wishes before starting. His contract was clear, and he accommodated our choice of dates to begin and complete the project. Carlos answered our calls promptly, and confirmed the dates and times he and his crew would be on site.Crew member Ruben did an excellent job with the tile installation and creatively solved a dilemma of us not having quite enough of the decorative ribbon on hand. We had ribbon on hand from a project several years ago and wanted to incorporate it into our bathtub surround. The manufacturer discontinued the design a couple of years ago, but Ruben was able to stretch the number of ribbon pieces on hand to fit. He incorporated the pieces we had on hand with additional coordinating tiles to make a fantastic design for the tub surround. The crew was knowledgeable and cleaned up when they finished. Carlos cordially answered all of our questions throughout the project. We had a very positive experience and are very satisfied with the outcome.

Carlos came to give us an estimate on the job. He was very helpful with ideas and suggestions. He started and finished the job on time.

There were a lot of extras that weren't covered in the Big Deal. Make sure you clarify what is included, because there were a lot of add ons (like the shower door) that substantially increased the price to have the project actually completed. I didn't appreciate that everything wasn't disclosed. He was very thorough in his estimate, and I am sure he does very good work. The price was too high for me.

Went through a planning process to define what we wanted, and looked at the cabinet and countertop options available under the Big Deal, and found that the Big Deal constraints precluded an under the counter sink that we wanted in the redo. The refund of the substantial Big Deal coupon purchase went quit painlessly after we concluded not to go ahead with the project with thsi contractor.

Mr. Guzman is obviously quite busy and so I had to wait a week for him to be able to make it for an appointment, which was not a problem. He was on-time for the appointment, we discussed the project, and he was going to provide me with a quote by the end of the following week. It was a long wait, but I was willing. At the due date, I received an email from him that he was compiling some last costs on the project and that he would be in touch within the next few days. I never heard from him again. So I cannot recommend him due to lack of follow-through.

I was very satisfied with Guzman Contractors. They were very professional and I felt very confident in their abilities. I had no complaints.

Overall, it went very well. I am pleased.

Wow! Carlos and his team were awesome! I have never had work like this done before and was not sure what to expect. Since the work was so extensive (for me), I was worried about any part of it being poorly done. I was happily surprised! The team showed up on time and explained what was going to be done that day. I was kept up to date on how much longer the day would be and what they accomplished. Much care was taken in every aspect of their work. They covered our floors and some of our things that had been unloaded from the cabinet. After the work was done they cleaned up their work. They either wiped up and vacuumed or on one occasion they "sponged" the floor from one end to another! The work was beautifully done! Everything was meticulously done! My husband and I keep looking at it and admiring their handiwork! They were kind and helpful and Carlos was always available to answer any questions I had. I really appreciate their service and plan on hiring them to redo our bathroom. Thank you, Carlos and team!

They was a misunderstanding on communication from the vender and I feel we wasted the vendor's time and out time on figuring out if the project could be done. We were planning to go ahead on the project, but the price changed on the estimate and that's what held us back from doing the work.

Both bathrooms were done in under two weeks.

How it went: very frustrating and confusing in initial attempts to contact the company. I left messages with several different receptionists and all they could do was take a message. It didn't seem they knew much about the company.After a few attempts and messages back and forth, about a week and a half later I talked with the person who could actually make an appt. to come see my cabinets. Decision was made about how to redo the kitchen cabinets. They were busy so I had to wait to find out when they could come do the work. Carlos is a nice guy and did say the wood grain would show through the new paint on the cabinets. That was fine. But how it turned out is that black dots and lines show through the white paint and it looks incomplete and bad. Some of the outside doors are ok but a few are bad...and on the inside of the doors (which you see when you open them to get something out) are all spotted with the black dots. When Carlos came to inspect the work and I saw it done for the first time, I pointed out the black dots and lines showing through. His worker said they did a few coats of varnish and that's the way it came out. I asked for touch up paint for the most glaring problems. Seeing I was going to try to fix his work, the worker tried to touch up some spots but really just made it worse since the varnish was already dry. Later I touched up some spots and covered them smoother. Several friends have seen the work and said they should have fixed these problems. I am embarrassed about the cabinets and of course upset about the shoddiness. I can't help but think if this was their home, the workers or Carlos would have done a better job perhaps put more varnish on to cover the black dots and lines?Again, Carlos is a nice person and perhaps this just was an unsuccessful job for his company. But I did not have a good experience with this company. And would not hire them again, even at a reduced Angie List price.

We were very pleased with their work and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

The job went great... at the end of the day his crew cleaned up and washed every thing up. They worked weekends to get the job done. This is the second job he has done for us and we will not use anyone but Guzman Contractors. He shows up when he says he will and his prices are great. The work is quality and done right.

He is a very nice guy. I liked him. He gave me a bid that was fair. He was punctual and very professional interaction.

Carlos came out to give me an estimate on my work. He was a very nice gentlemen and took all the information and took pictures etc, and seemed to know his business quite well and I was anticipating an estimate via email. I called twice and left messages due to a long wait of a couple of weeks and not hearing anything.. He returned one call and said perhaps my email spam filter was dumping his reply into my junk mail folder and he would re-send it. I provided two email addresses and checked the junk mail folders. It has been over 6 weeks since our original meeting and there has been no response or follow ups other than what I mentioned. I was very disappointed after reading all the positive reviews on Angie's list. This is very unprofessional behavior. Win some, lose some.

We responded to Angie's Big Deal for half-price bathroom remodel. This was something we really needed so we contacted Carlos Guzman. He was very busy with the Big Deal bathroom remodels, but he got to us as soon as possible. We are extremely pleased with the work he has done - he has finished about a week under the estimate. He is good about making decorating suggestions (he took us shopping to choose tile, cabinet, faucets, shower door, and paint) and making just about any changes we want. The quality of work is excellent. And we really like Carlos. We have also contracted with him to remodel our other bathroom (not covered by the Big Deal) which he will be starting in a couple of days. We are also planning on having him do other work for us - laying ceramic tile in our kitchen and entryway, and repainting our entire interior at a later date.

Contacted company twice on my own based on excellent reviews on Angie's List. Spoke to answering service and received no call back. it has been 3 weeks. Also had our design group try to contact them and they received no call back.

My husband and I interviewed eight contractors. After talking with Carlos, we felt assured that he would do a good job. And he did. He's very professional. We would definitely hire him again. THANKS, CARLOS.

The estimate went fine. I did like the guy and I liked the service but I couldn't afford it. I was happy with them.

I couldn't have asked for better. I got three bids and Carlos' (owner) was the middle bid. I chose him because he seemed to be the best listener, and was able to envision what I was attempting to convey. He had suggestions and ideas about alternative possibilities but wasn't pushy about them. I described what I wanted, and made a couple of adjustments as we went along, which he took in stride. When I was definite about my ideas he went with it, but when I wasn't sure on something he made suggestions-- which were excellent. I was glad to be able to rely on his judgment when I wasn't sure about something. We went together to pick out all the materials (tub/shower, vanity, toilet, faucets, cabinets, mirrors,tile, etc) which was great b/c I had some sense of what I wanted, but didn't know anything about relative pros and cons of the products. I was given two finish-dates: one was a definite date by which the project would be completed, and one was a target date (one week earlier) that he said he would try to meet. As it turned out, he finished one day ahead of the target date, so the job was completed more than a week before the "definite" date! Because this is the only bathroom in my house, I really appreciated that he was able to leave the toilet intact for all but a couple of days and that even during construction I was able to use the shower for part of the time. The house was always left clean, and although materials and tools were left at my house during the project, they were kept out of the way. It was exciting to come home every day and see the progress that had been made. Carlos, the owner, was on site every day and did much of the work himself. I met two of his employees and they were both hardworking, friendly/polite, and good at what they were doing. In all, I couldn't be happier with the process or with the product-- both exceeded my expectations. The bathroom is absolutely perfect, even better than I had imagined it. Everything is not only solid and high-quality, but also beautiful. I'll be re-hiring this company to do some work on my kitchen as soon as I can.

Carlos is very polite, honest, genuinely a good guy. Gave a very reasonable price, finished on time, if something was done and it was not to our liking, they immediately fixed it without question or excuses. Plan on using him again for future projects

We found out that our guest shower was leaking and called 3 people to bid on the work. I was really impressed with Carlos when he came over to do the quote. We live in Phelan and he was the only one that did not complain how far we lived. I also liked that he did a detailed bid. We liked him so much, that we had him fix other things in our home that needed repair. He started on 6-13-11 and finished on 6-22-11. He was very clean and picked up all the trash. Loved his work!!
