McCleary Painting

This company's estimate was significantly less ($800 vs. $1200) than other estimates for the same job. He did a great job over all, but lacked perfect attention to detail. Some lack of crisp lines (he paints free hand with a brush, rather than taping), some small missed nooks and crannies, some extraneous paint (e.g. on tile near baseboards). You get what you pay for: If you can't stand to paint yourself but don't want to pay a fortune, McCleary painting is for you, but if you want the job done perfectly, pay the extra for someone who will take more time.

There were several non-standard elements to our exterior painting project but they didn't seem to phase Mark and his crew. First, we chose a very deep color that had to be color matched twice through no fault of Mark's (We are designers so are quite picky). We'd already purchased 10 expensive gallons of the mismatched paint so they ended up treating that as the base undercoat color and then the corrected color as the topcoat. He worked with me on this solution but made sure we were keeping on schedule. We also chose the fairly new Benjamin Moore Aura paint which he hadn't used on exteriors (most people don't want to pay the extra cost- but its well worth it!). Mark provided his educated opinion on pros and cons for our choices yet in the end left the decision up to us. To Mark's credit I should mention he showed true integrity when advising me of the new and unpopular lead abatement rules and conducted all necessary testing to insure the safety of his workers and to abide by the law. He and his crew were also very flexible in altering their technique to a much more labor intensive process (in blazing July heat no less) in order to accommodate the trim color going under eaves and faschia. In the end it was very impressive work and a real head turner. Only gripe is that our lawn died where they had to rinse out their brushes. I did ask if they could clean them in another manner but that would have meant my sidewalk or my bathroom would be stained with paint splashes. Also, I was disappointed that Mark was so busy he was unable to personally work on the house himself except for checking in on the workers. He will be coming back, however, to paint our new door and I will highly recommend he and he and his crew in the future.

The price was very reasonable and it was significant less than the next higher price. The work was good but they aren’t the neatest. I don’t feel like they covered everything or took real care to protect things. Their work was good enough that I called them back to do another job.

very well. Visited to create free quote which was provided via email. Showed up when as as promised except for one mix-up where they showed up a week early after the holidays. That mix-up was quickly resolved with no problems. All the work was completed with high quality.

Mark did an excellent job. He came out when scheduled to walk through and give us an estimate. His price was the middle of three bids. I picked him due to his reports on Angie's List. He was always on time and did a great job.

While prepping the house for the painting, they ran into a large area where stucco had disintegrated. Painted around the area while repairs were being done, then returned to complete painting after repairs completed. Very professional. A big difference from other painters we have had. Easy to deal with, responsive, great work.

Perfect! Mark is prompt, more than efficient and his work is impeccable. He painted my walls with the care and attention he would use in his own house. Mark is a perfectionist! To prove my point, I have to impart another unfortunate experience I had with another painter. It was during a recent whole-house remodel, I made the mistake of going with my contractor's painters. Not Mark--and it was a bad move! Nearly every room needs to be repainted. I learned my lesson - I'll be calling Mark to mop up this mess.

We had a floor that needed to be matched. He did a perfect match. The project took a couple days. He cleaned up well and we have a great looking set of doors.

I called for an estimate to paint the full interior of our house. Mr McCleary walked through a house, and asked many questions to determine what our needs were. He offered suggestions and ways to handle related services to get the best results. He was very knowledgeable about his trade. He was prompt and punctual in our meeting as well as in sending out the estimate. His pricing was reasonable, and I wish we had him do the work instead of using the DIY-approach (which seems cheaper, but is full of headaches).

We noticed the paint on some areas around the peaks of our house was worn, and we were concerned that it could lead to more serious problems with the house. After some procrastination we decided that this was the time to get it fixed. We got bids from a couple of painting companies. The bid from McCleary Painting was lower, and also included an additional worn area that neither we nor the second painting contractor had noticed. The painters came as scheduled, and did their work efficiently and well, with minimal disruption to our routine. We are happy with the results, and plan to become repeat customers when we need painting done.

Mark was very prompt and professional. We had some bad luck with paint stores being closed/ out of stock on the color that we chose but he went out of his way to find it and still stayed on schedule. He even came back a few times to check the paint as it dried. Our garage floor looks great!

Fantastic experience.. I'm actually looking forward to my next project just so I can call Mark.

This project went smoothly. Mr McCleary is excellent about returning calls and adjusting schedules to the customer's need. The walls in the room that was painted were in bad shape and his painter did a good, extensive amount of prep. I was pleased and will use him again.

As noted above the job went well. I paid him in full at the end of the job. He was one of the few painters that did both interior and exterior painting. I would definitely use him again.

Gave us a good estimate and emailed it to us. Came promptly as scheduled, completed the work better than we could have expected and left everything clean and neat.

I called McCleary Painting looking for a bid, and Mark was able to come over the next day. After taking a walk around the house and assessing it, Mark emailed me a quote over e-mail a few hours later. Quote was competitive -- a few days later we finalized the contract and the very next day, his crew members were at my house bright and early -- 7 a.m. -- to begin the work. They came at this time every day and put in a hard day's work each day. They were very attentive to detail yet were able to get the entire job done in 4 days. The house was build in 1948, so there was a lot of careful prep work needed to be done on the stucco. Also we were going from a dark brown trim to a white trim, and now you cannot even see the brown trim at all ... looks like a brand new house. Mark and his crew are very polite, respectful and you can tell they hold customer service as their highest value. He was on time (early in fact) each time, and the quality of the work exceeded our expectations. After completing the work, he left no trace of having been there, except of course for the excellent paint job! They charged $250 for the job. They were good. They were punctual, responsive and professional. Overall, I had a good experience working with them. I’ll use them again in the future.

We were doinig some remodeling on our home, so the house was empty and furniture did not need to be moved or covered. Mark, the owner arrived on time and gave me an estimate for work to be done. He sent Juan who arrived on time each day and was happy, courtious, and concsientious.

Mark and his staff did an awesome job in our painting project. Everything looks updated and fresh He was always punctual, responded to all our questions, and when we added more items to our to do list willingingly accomodated us. Would highly recommend Mark, and will be using him in the near future for additional painting projects
