Description of Work: Having recently arrived from Australia, I discovered my laptop was configured in a way which would not allow efficient Broadband connection nor WIFI from local provider. There was also something wrong with internet connection even when I could connect with Broadband. Dan fixed all problems, made some recommendations and appeared to have a wealth of knowledge and experience. A cool, calm and collected gentleman. Would call him again if required!

Description of Work: My networking was down and after hours trying to fix it I called Daniel at West LA Computer Fix. He came out within hours and started to trouble shoot what was wrong. After diagnostics on my new HP 6520 and then seeing that my IPad did not connect, nor his laptop, we thought maybe the router was bad. He had an old trick he used with a paper clip and everything is up and running. He was so gracious about not using the full time I had paid for that he stayed and went over some other things on my computer cleaning it up. Great service, personable, reliable...will definitely use him for all my computer needs.

Description of Work: My wife's laptop had a dead (black) screen. I contacted Dan and found that he did not do the kind of hardware repair I needed. He gave me a referral for someone who does this work. He even followed up with an email to see how it was going. I'm sorry we couldn't work together, but I will certainly keep him in mind if I need the kind of work he provides. Overall, a very professional response to my needs. At this writing, the technician Dan recommended has my wife's computer and I expect to hear what is required shortly.

Description of Work: My Computer completely shut down, I thought I was going to lose all my Photos, Docs, etc. Dan restored all my Photos, Docs, Etc. He also added Virus protection at no extra charge to me. I will call Dan for help, If I even need help again.

Description of Work: I have the highest regard for West LA Computer Fix. Windows 7 began to have a number of problems.. Finally Windows would not work and the only thing that came up was a screen stating that Windows was trying to repair itself (to no avail). The computer was under warrantee, and the computer manufacturer stated that it sounded like the hard drive was crashing. It was recommended that I see a professional to back up the data, and then send the computer to the manufacturer for diagnosis and repair. Dan from West LA Computer Fix removed the hard drive and placed it on his computer so he could back up the data to an external drive. He then figured out that the hard drive was not crashing and that windows had been corrupted. He repaired windows and meticulously restored programs and then the back up data. He did this at a very fair cost, speedily, and kept me informed every step of the way. This is the best repair job I have seen on a computer. It was not a simple job, and it was done with great care, speed, and at a fair cost. I highly recommend the service.

Description of Work: Scanned numerous times to I'd and remove a very nasty virus. Dan was very conservative in his approach with an eye to protecting my data. He provided various tools to get to the problem and back-Kuomintang the data before restoring. Would definitely call him again if a similar issue come up. very reasonable and thorough.

Description of Work: My overall experience with Dan's services was that he was very good. He emailed me once I signed up on the special (unlike other companies on Angie's list who wait for the customer to contact them). We exchanged several emails prior to his visit and after his visit. He was very helpful and prompt in his email responses. My computer was very slow and there were several problems with it. During his visit, he asked a lot of questions and he got to the end of the problem. My computer is a lot faster now. Dan was very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend him.

Description of Work: My toshiba satellite wouldnt boot up. I dropped it off at Dans and he diagnosed and performed the repair within a few days. He got me a great price and fast shipping on more memory. He restored all my data and updated my systems. Dan is a professional that really knows his stuff. I cant say enough good things about the experience. My computer works faster and is like new. I will take ALL my PCs to Dan from now on.

Description of Work: I'm on the computer all the time. Had a major corrupt file in outlook. Called Dan on Saturday at 10:00 - at my house at 5:00 - calm, professinal, nice, expert, fixed the computer. Can't get any better than this guy. Kudos. He's a keeper and I will use him again.

Description of Work: computer gave me a message that my windows copy was not genuine. Dan quickly found that it was indeed a genuine copy and just needed to be rebooted. at same time he updated my antivirus program and improved the esthetics of my screensaver.

Will not hesitate to call him again and refer family and friends to him. He was able to deal with a very difficult problem (trojan/virus affecting registry) which kept me from accessing apps and programs. He responded to my weekend email within a minute and provided service the next day. This got my personal and business-related stuff running back to normal. He explained things well and gave advice on how to avoid such problem in future. His services saved me much time in having to do data re-entry and money in having to reinstall some of apps.

Description of Work: Our PC had been "hijacked" with a virus and we were not able to access any of our programs. We called Dan . He arrived on time, was very professional and at the same time was patient in explaining what had occurred. Not only did he fix the problem, he was helpful in showing us how to prevent future occurrences.

Description of Work: very good - Dan tried a couple of hardware swaps after the computer refused to boot up. In short time, he was able to zero in on what wasn't working; got the replacement part, Windows booted up again, computer performing as it should.
